Flowers, for thousands of years, have been a popular way to communicate with someone else—especially if the message had to be secret. Most popular in the Victorian Era, it was at that time that flower meanings expanded to more than just apologies or expressions of love. They could now also contain warnings, silently break off an engagement (worse than text messaging someone), or have symbolic meaning in stories and paintings.

While it is no longer used as much, everyone remembers the more popular flower meanings and some delight in discovering the little-known ones. So, go to a florist and create a special bouquet for a loved one. Hopefully it’s for Valentine’s Day not National Break Up Day.

[That's...only the explanation he can give her? No, there had to be more to it than that. The smile on his face is mildly convincing, but Aqua has the feeling there's something else there. A guy can't simply give another girl flowers without a meaning behind it, right?]

No...no, there's more to it than that. So...what did you do?

[Clapping a hand over his heart, Cent feigns a staggered step back as though wounded by the insinuation]

Whatever did I do, she asks.

[She can't help but look over her shoulder just to make sure no one else is there. Yup, it's just her. He's paying her a compliment...okay, that's fine.]

The conversation changes gears, making Aqua blink again until she gives him a bright smile.]

You heard, huh? I read the acceptance letter a dozen times until it finally sunk in. I'm actually going to travel across the world...and write stories about the people I meet.

Really? I was growing anxious when their letter arrived weeks late. I completely thought I didn't get it.

[In fact, she was ready to take on another interview for a boring desk job. Thankfully she didn't make an appointment with anyone or sent out her resume.

She scoots over slightly, giving Cent enough room to sit next to her. Carefully, she lays down his flowers on the table, just to make sure they wouldn't get crushed in her arms.]

I don't know yet. They're supposed to send me this huge packet of information, and receive a call from their Human Resources about signing paperwork. So I'm staying here for at least another month. Enough time to get things together, that sort of thing.

[Since they're talking about food, it's best if she gets up and push in her chair. Better to gather all of her things now before taking off.]

[Seeing Aqua get up, Cent follows suit. Fortunately for him, he doesn't have anything to gather up, but he does help her arrange her things]

Mine's closer, but I don't know what state my roommate's got it in.

[There's a soft murmur of thanks from Aqua for helping her all her things situated, including her flowers. She didn't want to leave those behind or have them crushed.]

[Cent can only shrug at that reality. Hell, every time he tries, Dito just complains. Theatrically. Sometimes he has to wonder how he got saddled with the guy]

[Sometimes, Aqua wondered the same thing. How in the world Cent got stuck with Dito for a roommate when the other barely did anything. It wasn't her place to say anything, but she stood by Cent and helped him out with his place when she could.]

As long as there's nothing crawling around there, I think we'll be fine.

[Aqua wasn't a saint. She was just being a good friend. But yeah, Cent's place should never get to that level of mess where something could be crawling around.

She followed right behind him and stepping inside, she's amazed to see the place is decent.]

[Or maybe a handful of guests he wanted to entertain while Cent was out. Regardless, it's nice to come back to a clean place. She takes off her shoes, setting them by the door before placing her things at the table.]

[Unless she was wrong? Which seems to be the case right now, but they have the apartment for them to use.

She takes off her shoes, shrugging off her jacket to put on the chair.]

You did? I thought she promised not to tell anyone, but I can understand why she told you. I was hoping to you myself, but she beat me to it. [No harm though, she's not too upset.]
