but even that hardest of hearts unhardened suddenly when he saw her there: persephone in her mother’s garden, sun on her shoulders, wind in her hair, the smell of flowers she held in her hand and the pollen that fell from her fingertips. and suddenly, hades was only a man with a taste of nectar upon his lips To live your life in darkness is no easy task. Evil may be just a point of view - one you may not ascribe to yourself - but a black heart or a ruthless mind is hardly quieted. While you don't regret what you've done, at least not outwardly, you do wonder if there isn't something more. Grey morality has discolored your world. That is, until you see them. They are beautiful, pure, good: everything that you are not. You should be annoyed or at least ambivalent to their presence; after all, they serve you no purpose, promise you no gain. But oddly enough, you are drawn to them, and not even in hopes to destroy or corrupt. No, you want to have them, to keep them with you. What to do with this newfound feeling? Act on it, of course. You've never let anything stop you before. What you don't realize (or perhaps do, you just don't exactly care) is that the object of your...affection may not be too keen on being taken what they see as prisoner. Yet you only have their best interests at heart! Still, you do care for them, in your own fashion, more than almost anyone else, so surely a deal can be struck... You just couldn't bear to lose them.

/dumps this on you does this work?
But not all of them are gone.
Long ago, when Elves and Men walked beneath the sky together, tales were told of the sons of Feanor. Crazed by revenge and the need to fulfil their father's oath, desperate and dangerous, they were cursed for their actions against their own kin, and one by one, they died... save one. Legend tells that he wanders still, mad and lost, seeking ever for his family's treasure.
There's a ghost by the sea or so the stories go Whose song is tears. Do not go down to the sea when you hear him singing, for he tolerates no intruders on his grief. If you go down when the sea is high and the voice on the wind is crying, you will never return home again. ]

(There are darker stories, too. Ones spoken of only in a whisper in the dark of night, stories that speak of what might happen on the day the stars in the Traveler's eyes go out, when chaos becomes ruin and even salvation bites sharp-toothed.)
Still, for those willing to look for him, he's easiest to find either where trouble lurks or on the edges of things. The shore of a sea, sometimes. Or where the mountains begin to rise up from the foothills, or the place where a city begins to spread out into countryside. But no matter where or when he is, his faithful blue box is somewhere nearby. In fact, it's often the first and best sign that he's anywhere at all, given that he's a wanderer born and no two ways about that.
This time, his box stands on the edge of a field as the sun sets, turning the sky itself ablaze. It's quiet too. Almost ordinary, and yet there he must surely be, for all that he's not in sight.]

this perception of the world does not readily make space for the creature called 'vampire', but that is inarguably what she's encountered; the creature that she saw rise from a grave came with no electrical pull in her belly to warn her, as do her own kind. it - he - had been empty. no; not empty, but as mortals are, only...
she's spent the past month following this newborn, caution the better part of valor; she might learn more if she sought out an older mark, but this one is too inexperienced to realize he's being ... hunted? perhaps. she hasn't decided yet. she knows too little, understands even less. she should write to the others; she should write to her mother, seek her counsel, but she doesn't want to be forever a girl who runs to her mama's skirts. she wants to be a woman who brings new knowledge to share.
she will not go unnoticed by them forever. )
