The (Platonic) Love of my Life Meme

They're your partner, your soulmate, your other half... but you don't think of them *that* way. This is a meme for playing out intimate platonic relationships.

Post with your character, canon, preferences, etc. Despite the wording of the meme, Golden Trios (or more) are fine too. Here's some prompts to get you started:

1. Love at First Sight: Your eyes met, and you knew with the tugging at your heart that this person would be your best friend for the rest of your life.

2. Better as Friends: You have mistaken your platonic bond for a romantic one, and are trying to make it work as lovers (and failing). The love and trust is there, but there's no attraction, no spark. When are you going to realize the truth?

3. Wedding Bells: The two of you want all the legal benefits of marriage -- or maybe you're being pressured to marry someone, so you pick your best friend. Just don't let anyone know you don't plan on consummating.

4. Confession: You've been friends for a while, and it's time to let them know the truth -- that your feelings for them go beyond friendship and into platonic partnership. Here's hoping they understand.

5. Under One Roof: You live together. Sharing a bed, arguing over furniture, going for groceries... can your relationship withstand being around each other nearly 24/7?

6. New Life: The two of you are going to raise a child together. Maybe you're adopting, or using artificial insemination. Maybe one of you conceived a child with someone else and the other one will serve as another parent figure for the child.

7. Not my Lover: The two of you are constantly mistaken for lovers -- how could you be so affectionate and intimate with each other without something romantic or sexual going on, after all? You might even get in trouble for this perceived relationship.

8. Three's a Crowd: One or more of you also has a romantic partner in addition to your platonic partner, and they're getting jealous of all the time you spend with your platonic partner. They may even accuse you of cheating, and you may have to choose between the two relationships.

9. Friends Never Say Goodbye: It's been a good run, but it's time for you to part ways. Perhaps you're simply breaking up, or someone has to go far away. Whatever the cause, your memories of this person and what you had together will never fade.

10. I Love You (Intensely and Platonically): Wildcard. Combine prompts, or make up your own scenarios. They might even show up on any future iterations of this meme.

[Natsume and his feelings spent a good deal of time not being on the same page. Repressed or ignored, they got neglected a great deal. There was only so much that he could shoulder on his own and yet he had a bad habit of trying to carry everything by himself. That smile hardly wavered, and who would guess that behind that silly facade was someone who had a great deal he worried about.

Well, if anyone noticed, it was probably Soushi. Though he was at his most ridiculous when he was beside his best friend - clinging and saying any manner of strange things, it was probably because Natsume's head and his heart were at their most chaotic when he was with Soushi. But there was probably no one who even noticed the change, as these things had been normal before, but there was most definitely something a little bit different about the way he teased and hung onto his friend. If anyone noticed, it was probably Soushi, who had always seemed to know Natsume better than anyone and sometimes, more than Natsume wanted him to.

It wasn't like he'd ever considered romance as a possibility for himself. He wasn't the type who saw himself giving and taking on an equal basis. Putting so much emotional attachment into a person was tiring, and more of a strain for him than anyone would guess. So for him, it was only natural that his fate was to be alone.

Soushi, well... he threw that off. Natsume, for too long, had been able to say easily that there was no one he loved. Until one day, he realized quite gravely that he could no longer say that. Things became more difficult from that point on, as he tried to figure out in just what way he loved Soushi. He was attractive, sure. Natsume had always admitted that, long before he'd realized he'd felt this level of attachment to him. However, he'd never much thought about that fact. No, what he was reminded of most were the little things. The things that made Soushi. The way they understood each other. The fact that sometimes, he could let his guard down around him.

Being in love with him seemed about as crazy as theories went, though even just saying that he loved him was a much stronger admission than he'd ever imagined himself making. So he'd been forced to re-evaluate all of his feelings.

It was pretty late, when Natsume stepped out of his room to take a little walk around the building. What he didn't expect however, was that he'd run into Soushi at this hour. His thoughts were still scattered and feelings unsorted, but that wasn't the kind of face he wanted to show his friend now.]

Oh~? You're still awake?

[It has been a few months ever since the problem with Inugami and the Thousand Year Demon Parade was solved. All due to the efforts of their incarnations from the future. A sacrifice Soushi felt a great deal of gratitude over as he, somehow, felt as thought if it weren't for their help, then they would have been trapped in a endless loop of time or worse. There was so many outcomes the change Inugami tried to recreate could have occurred if it weren't for the warning given ahead of time.

Due to the change of time, Soushi was able to grow more as an individual than he ever once imagined would have happened. His relationship with those living within the mansion was stronger than ever before. He had actual friends, comrades, and family with everyone now. Relationships he never once believed in his wildest dreams he could have ever hope to achieve along with strengthening the ties he had with those in his past. A past he has been working tirelessly to forget, only to learn he didn't need to do so -- he had to accept his past instead of hiding and running away from it.

His desire and motivation to explore the world more was slowly growing. The world that once was filled with mainly Ririchiyo was beginning to expand, allowing other people to enter into it. And out of all those people, there was one other individual, in particular, that he has been growing increasingly closer to, which wasn't a surprise as it was, Natsume. One of his childhood acquaintances, one of the few people who know him more than he knew himself, and one of the few who was allowed to learn about most of his secrets and fears.

Needless to say, Natsume has always been someone Soushi could rely and confide in him enough to allow him to meddle within his life whenever it was needed. One of the few people Soushi trusted in, even before they began to grow closer to one another.

In every lifetime, Soushi is absolutely certain that Natsume will always be one of the first individuals who will cross his path. That's why he could trust him even if he no longer had any of their past or future memories. He will simply place his trust in his friend.

That is the reason behind Soushi's late night stroll around the mansion. He was feeling concern over his friend as he took notice of his odd behavior as of late. It wasn't difficult to pinpoint whenever Natsume felt concern over a particular matter because even if he smiled while the concern passes through his mind, he had the awful habit of distancing himself and trying to find a way to escape from whatever situation he was currently in. After all, the 100 Eyes Atavist was the type to distance himself from others as a way to protect them from his own concerns. He rarely relied on others. Actually, he usually would avoid doing so. Always thinking of other people instead of himself was Natsume's way of life. A life he knew too well about.

Upon hearing the voice he was awaiting for, Soushi will turn to his friend with a kind smile on his lips as he was dressed in his nightwear which was mainly him wearing a dark long sleeve shirt and baggy, stylish pants.]

It would seem as though we're both having some trouble resting tonight. [After all, Natsume was outside, away from his room and sleep like he was.] Good evening, Natsume-san. [And with a short pause, he will add.] How are you feeling in this fine evening?
