It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they?
i n s t r u c t i o n s • Post with your character (note the name and fandom in the subject). • Other people reply to you by generating a number from 1 to 10. • Have fun!
o p t i o n s 01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet. 02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops. 03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it. 04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them... 05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort. 06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help? 07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on. 08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them. 09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you. 10 • WILDCARD. Choose one of the options above, or make up your own scenario. |

I dunno. As much as you've done for me? I just want you t'be happy-- like you deserve.
[That's what she wanted for everyone she knew and loved]

[Now, he just follows the bees. He looks at his hand in hers--and moves to lift it, and run the fingers of his other hand over her wrist.] I don't wish for you to be sad.
Everyone is sad. And angry. On and off. [He turns a smile to her again.] I missed you. I was in Mykonos today. I always wondered why they named it after Apollo's brood. He was an ass.

What about you? Are you happy?
no subject
..I'm here.
no subject
I'm glad you're here, Cas. I'm always happy t'see you, whenever you want.
no subject
Then I'll come back. I want to see you--I'm glad you want to see me.
[He's certain the boys wouldn't, as much as he'd like to see them. Sam would, maybe. Dean. Maybe not Dean. Meg is very nice, but thorny. Just her way.] I'll come back.
no subject
You better. It's hard t'find you, y'know.
[A slight tease. She couldn't resist.]
no subject
Yes. Though, it's a good thing now. Crowley is looking for me. [He shifts, looking up at her--well, looking at her ear, really, in the great, lovely mess that is her hair. Curly hair follicles are flat.] Be careful.
[Not that Crowley knows about her, or would ever. It's just a small thing. He's lost so many friends lately.]

He'd deserve it. He's the King of Hell now, so it wouldn't be a wise decision. You shouldn't fight demons, especially in numbers.
no subject
And how'd you manage t'piss off the King of Hell?
no subject
Of course, in retrospect, Crowley should have never been involved in the first place. I think.
[Don't like conflict.]
The Bee Hummingbird is the smallest of it's genus. In one day, it can visit over 1500 flowers.
...hadtousethisicon8|b
And what about you? What's your favorite type of flower?
i approve this icon usage /sagenod
I love all of Earth's flora. I was there when they were colored. Not here, but somewhere else in the Ether. There was dispute over goldenrods, and how orange they turned out.
If I have any favor over one genus, I suppose it's Hyacinthoides. Hispanica and non-scripta.
[He lifts his head to smile at her--] Non-scripta grow in open canopies, before the trees fill and leaf. Iridescent colors, bleeding from violet and indigo.
FLOWERS. EVERYWHERE.
I dunno if I have a favorite flower. [She never had the chance to get flowers from anyone. At least anyone she cared about.] Lilies remind me of my mother.
[One of her mothers peculiarities. She had never been one for frivolous things, but she had always made sure there were fresh flowers in the dining room. Lilies were the most common.]
YES EXACTLY
Do you like lilies?
no subject
Hmmm..... [Lilies... they were beautiful... but so formal. Like her mother. Now that she thought about it, it was probably her mother's upbringing which made her so stiff. She hadn't considered what it would have been like to actually be raised from birth as royalty.] I dunno.
I think I prefer dandelions... or cherry blossoms. [Flowers who reminded her of other people in her life.]

Zachariah wanted them white. I think Gabriel liked pink. I imagine the inconsistencies were the fault of the latter brother. [he gives a smile, looking off--He wonders what Gabriel would say about many things these days. Uriel may have been the funniest by popular opinion, but Balthazar and Gabriel always managed to make him laugh.]
I can bring you cherry blossoms.
no subject
You don't have to, Cas.
[Though she hadn't taken any time to appreciate flowers lately...]

He tilts is head, a more gentle smile gracing his features. Just those five little words, and he's feeling over the moon. Of course, he could go over the moon if he wanted, and see what all the talk is about. Come to think of it, he's been there before. Not all that interesting.
He leans over, a hand sneaking around the back of her head, and he tenderly kisses her forehead.
And then, he's gone.
There's a good ten minute stretch, after Cas vanishes out of sight again.
But he does come back. And hell, if he didn't strip an entire tree of their branches. The space he occupied before, when he first appeared, is now full of cherry blossom limbs, the flowers bright, whitish and pink, petals floating about from where Cas's metaphorical wings gusted them on landing.
He smiles, picking a cluster of five blooms and stepping over to her. Peeking from his trenchcoat pocket is a burst of indigo colored bluebells. Seems he made a side-trip too.]
I had to move a birds nest. They seemed content with their new location in an akamatsu. [Yes. He went all the way to Japan. And he probably went to the UK for those bluebells. He extends the fist of flowers with a smile.]
YOU MADE HER CRY CAS.
Then there had been that kiss on her forehead. It was unexpected and soft, entirely unlike how she was used to being treated (if Cas had stuck around he would have noticed she was even blushing a bit).
And just as she was getting ready to go to bed-- Poof.
Flowers.
Flowers everywhere.
She felt like she had stepped into some Japanese romance comic with the amount of petals fluttering though the room.
Then she sees Cas holding out the flowers to her and her heart stops, because, in all honesty, she hadn't had anyone treat her to such kindness in a while.
She hadn't even had flowers given to her in-- over eight years (She remembered the last time well. It was at one of her first public piano recitals. Her mother and father had been so proud they had bought her a huge bouquet filled with pink and yellow chrysanthemums.).]
Cas... [When she tries to speak is when she notices the lump in her throat. She was about to cry over flowers? Really? When had she become such a girl.] Y'didn't need to--
[Her hands extend out to his anyway, holding onto the branch and his own hand.]
I can't even do anythin' for you and---
[That. is when the tears hit. One of her hands is at her face, pushing up her glasses and scrubbing at her eyes.
Crapcrapcrap. She didn't want to cry. She hated crying.
She never thought that flowers would make her cry.]
HE LOVES YOU, NIKE.
Please don't cry. [So many answers he can't give, so many things he can't bring himself to think of, so many things he's locked away now because he simply cannot process them anymore and stay here, awake, alive and working.] I can take them back. If you want. You don't have to do anything, Nike.
Please don't cry...
SHE CANNOT EVEN HANDLE THIS OKAY? (NO ICON EVER)
No-- no, you don't-- [She hiccups slightly and there's Athena weaving herself through Cas's legs.] Please don't take 'em.
[The scent reminded her of Shinji-- Yoshie always smelled like bubble gum and candy. But Shinji had always had an underlying floral note, probably due to one of the shampoos or conditioners he used she hadn't paid that much attention to his hair care.
And the blooming pink flowers, against all odds, dyed with the blood of warriors.
Shinji. Shinji. Shinji.
Home.
It was all that kept her together nowadays. The thought that they were hopefully safe and maybe one day she could return.] I love them, Cas. Really, I do.
[The tears aren't coming as hard now, the burst of emotion is subsiding as fast as it came-- though she's still left feeling raw.
Then she presses a chaste kiss to his lips. Not out of romance, but complete adoring affection, in the only way she knew how to show it at the moment.]
Thank you. Thank you so much.
I APOLOGIZE FOR NOTHING
He opens his mouth to say, 'all right'--and is distracted by Athena by his legs. He looks down at her, something comforted in him by the gentle motion. Just so purely Nike.
He tries a smile--he's glad she loves them, even if her face betrays the sentiment. He always marveled at how they did that. How looks never matched with the turmoil in their heads. He wonders if he can do that now. He probably does.
He blinks at the kiss. Different from their first meeting, of course, but something so gentle and sure and...oh, Nike. He does love you. Like his family, more than his brothers, the same as the Winchesters, the same as a missing Father he doesn't hope to find anymore.
He feels that way, sometimes, watching the sun touch the horizon.] You're welcome.
[He lifts a hand, and his thumb wipes away a few of the tear tracks on her left cheek, then the right. His free hand reaches into his pocket and he withdraws one of the stems of bluebells there. He frees both hands, leaving the cherry blossoms in her fingers--the memory comes from a picture, that he saw in the pacific. He doesn't understand the meaning, not like he used to, but her hair reminds him of the deep-skinned woman in the photograph, wild and dark. He slips the stem into a curl, and the bluebells hang near her face, a splash of purple-blue.]
...Hm. [He smiles again with the sound, and plucks two of the cherry blossoms from the bunch in her hand and frames them with the bluebells.]
AND YOU'LL NEVER HAVE TO.
She gives Cas the best smile she can muster because even through the intense feelings of regret and want and helplessness, she is happy.]
I dunno why you're so nice t'me, Cas. I haven't done anything t'deserve it.
[Not in her opinion at least.]
