The "Wedding Dress" Meme

In the past, weddings and marriages were simply business contracts to bind family and property together. Though that remains in some cultures, weddings in the modern day tend to be a time of joy, commitment, and looking forward to the future. That is, of course, if you're the one getting married to the person you love. But what if that person is getting married, and you're the one on the outside looking in? Maybe they left you, maybe you didn't know a good thing until it was gone, or perhaps they were forced into marrying someone else.
That decision is made, and the only one that remains is this: what will you do?
HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character and preferences. State whether or not you want your character being the one married or the one crashing the wedding - the default state, and for best results, is characters being able to do both.
- Tag others.
PROMPTS
1. Can't Believe What's Going On: You've just been told the "happy" news. How do you respond?
2. Screamin' Out of Control: There's still time before the wedding day. You could still talk them out of all this foolishness! You're the one they should be with!
3. Is It too Late?: Uh oh, it's the end of the line! You have to get to the church and crash this wedding.
4. Hurt the One I've Cared For: You were hesitant about trying to interfere, but then you heard the person your love is marrying has hurt them in some way.
5. I Was Never Perfect: You weren't exactly good to your ex-lover, and now you're willing to change. Too bad you picked this day to tell them that...
6. Making You Uncomfortable: This isn't a marriage of love, it's an arranged marriage! That stings even more, and you're determined to set things right.
7. Claimed Everything Was Okay: Right before the wedding, you're trying to get him/her to call it off, but they seem hesitant, even with the past history between you. They really love their spouse to be...or there's something else...
8. Gotta Keep My Cool, Be Calm: Okay, just barging in isn't the right thing to do. You have to find some way to get this wedding derailed, whether it be calling in an anonymous bomb threat, raising your army, or ordering party clowns.
9. No, No, No: There's nothing else to do but crash this in front of everyone the old fashioned way. I OBJECT!
10. I Know We're Done: It's your wedding being interrupted by a familiar face! Are you angry? Hurt? Happy?
11. Cause You Should Be My Lady: You're one of those people of dubious morals, so when in doubt, kidnap the object of your affection so they can't get married! Great plan!
12. Take My Hand: Or, on the other, more ethical side, they've come along with you and the two of you are going to start a life away from all of this.
13. I'd Never Let It Go: You may not even love this person or your love may not yet be clear, but one thing's for certain, and that's that you don't want to share or give them up.
14. Life Carries On: You've decided to let the wedding go on and live with your regrets.
15. WILDCARD

Things could have been like this. ]
Hans-- [ she gasped, her arms wrapping tight around his neck, now, her forehead pressed to his and eyes slipping shut as he slowly began to enter. It wasn't painful, but-- it was a new feeling entirely, toes curling and back arching ever the slightest. She would live the rest of this fantasy, not even deigning to think of anything else, the world outside her room forgotten as she focused solely on him.
The dark was comfortable, minimizing any fears she might have about a first time- just feeling a need to love, to be loved, as she pressed her lips to his, pecking them slowly once, then again- lingering, slowly opening her eyes to view his expression. ]
no subject
He would have told her so, had their lips not met in a warm kiss, the disgraced prince sinking readily into the affection Anna so freely offered. Carefully, Hans pulled himself back out, pressing back inside her with a bit more confidence, pressing deeper than before.]
A-Anna-- [He managed out, face flushed dark red as her body enveloped him, moaning low and deep as he pushed himself in to the hilt.] —You’re perfect.
no subject
Not to mention how deeply he pushed, her toes curling as she moaned with him, unable to be completely quiet. ]
I-- [ She flushed deeply at being called perfect, pecking his lips again. The praises and loving affections spilling from him were something she craved as well, something that poured into the holes of insecurity he'd dug inside her, that Elsa had dug inside her, that everyone had dug inside her- ] You're perfect. This is perfect.
[ Her hands slipped up the sides of his neck, up to the sides of his face, rustling his sideburns and pushing up into his hair. She couldn't stop the overflow of affection she felt, sensing the fragility of the moment- what felt like a vacuum in time confined to this room- and wanting nothing more than to let herself act, entirely unedited and unashamed. So she did- trying herself this time, her hips slowly shifting back in an attempt to mimic his actions, and pushing closer again, exhaling softly. ] ...oh-...
no subject
He would have made an attempt to disagree with her, insisting that he was the very opposite of perfect--but then the shift of her hips drove him so deep, it pulled an unrestrained sound of pleasure from deep within his gut.
Unable to speak, he gasped against her mouth, kissing her slow and deep as he thrust steadily into her. She was right, this was perfect.
Slowly, he began to pick up in intensity, the wet sound of their bare skin smacking together starting to ring out in the quiet of the room. He could barely keep himself together, his moaning becoming louder as they continued. Hopefully, none of the passing guards would hear their lovemaking from the hall.]
no subject
When he picked up his pace, she moaned into his mouth, parting from his lips only to wrap her arms around his neck and pull him as close as she could get him, kissing his jawline and gasping against the skin over and over again as they moved rhythmically-- ]
Hans, [ she moaned against him, letting his name whisper up her throat and tickle her kiss swollen lips, trapping in the air between her mouth and his skin.
Maybe it was a blessing, maybe it was a curse that they weren't heard, Anna too entirely focused on everything she could feel from him, everything she could feel of him inside and around her... not to mention the entirely new feeling swelling up in her with every movement, a pressure that made her gasp and blood rush in her ears as her back arched, so close-- ] --Ah--!
no subject
He didn't want this to end, but he could also feel himself approaching the point of no return. She was just so warm--]
A-Anna-- [His voice was approaching something closer to a whine, feeling a jolt of pleasure surge down to his hips when she gasped. Had she enjoyed that? Hans tried to aim at the spot that had drawn the noise from her, driving against it even as he lost control of himself.
But too soon, he could feel the pressure becoming unbearable--grinding deeply into her, moaning low as he spilled his orgasm deep inside of her, his body shuddering.]
no subject
Anna felt herself tense entirely under the feeling just before a surge of pleasure shot up her spine, tingling and warm and making her curl her toes with a whimpered unintelligible sound, just before she relaxed entirely into the mattress, sinking into it as he shuddered. For a moment she felt grounded in her body in a way she'd never thought possible, a pleasurable ache crawling up her thighs as she hugged him close, a hand pushing up the hair in the back of his head, simply breathing. Taking in everything. The smell of sweat and sex, the weight of his body atop hers, the oddly fulfilling sensation of him inside of her- everything still felt right. ]
I love you, [ she said softly, again, but with the certainty of someone who was declaring that the sun rose in the morning, and set at night. She felt a dull ache in her heart, the back of her mind reminding her this closeness was very temporary- and to try and compensate, she gently kissed at his temple. ]
no subject
He'd never felt this peaceful in his life.]
God, Anna-- [He kissed her fully, passionately.] I love you so much.
[In the afterglow, it took him a moment to realize the hint of sadness in that kiss to his temple, forcing himself to slowly pull out of her. It was momentarily startling how wrong it felt not to be inside her, carefully moving to lay beside Anna in the bed, pulling her smaller body against his. His callused fingers brushed the stray strands of hair from her face, sinking back to reality as he examined the bruises around her neck.
He pulled her closer, kissing the crown of her head. It was difficult to tell how much time had passed.]
...How do you feel?
no subject
There was an odd emptiness when he pulled out, so Anna was thankful he pulled her close, their skin flushed and radiating warmth. She'd never felt so vulnerable before- at least, not in this way, swallowing and closing her eyes to just-- listen. From his breaths in the darkness, to the contact of his lips, Anna tried desperately to remember every single thing she could. Even though there couldn't be any good in it for her.
So when he asked her how she felt, Anna answered honestly and immediately: ] I-- I don't know.
[ Hushed, small, she clung to him, hiding into the crook of his neck- arms and legs wrapped around him almost childishly. ]
I mean- I just wish- [ helplessly, she tried to find the words to describe it. It was happy- so happy beyond words that he was here, atoning and apologizing and holding her close like she once thought with certainty it'd always be- but her heart swelled, her eyes burned with tears she hid in him, wishing there hadn't been so much of him to scrape at to find this. To find her dream. So much of him to hurt, to betray, to make her heart hurt for him even as he had attempted to choke her to death-- ]
I... I feel like we were meant to be. [ There'd been a connection. Now, Anna knew- that the laughter, the sock sliding, the promises of roast and chocolate and their shared dreams of not being alone-- they weren't completely empty. She hadn't been completely off, completely wrong, even if he had made it seem that way. He just couldn't see past his need to be more than that.
Maybe if things were better, they would have been meant to be. Maybe they would be the ones getting married tomorrow, utterly and completely smitten, sharing the love Anna had just finally decided didn't exist, until now, it did. Until now, even the most innocent and gentle of his touches made her heart swell in a way she didn't think possible anymore. ] Do you... do you feel that way, too? I mean... it... it sounds stupid, but...
no subject
Even when his life was certainly ending, he was selfish.]
I'm sorry-- [He blurted out, pulling her closer.] If I hadn't-- We could--
[The reality of the aftermath was finally sinking in, knowing that it was only a matter of time before he was torn from her warm, loving embrace. Did he want to spend his last moments in a state of panic?]
I would... wake you with a kiss every morning, and we would go to breakfast--my beautiful wife on my arm. [He was describing what their life could be, in a world where they'd stayed engaged after the coronation, where he hadn't ruined everything.]
no subject
Though when he started speaking again, he piqued her attention- sighing softly in the crook of his neck, closing her eyes to imagine it. She could see it: his eyes, brightened by the morning glow filtering through the curtains. The way he looked at her now, transposed onto this morning Hans, who offered her a small smile, not something dazzling and gleaming, but perfect in its own right. ] Then what?
[ she asked, kissing the underside of his chin as she cracked a small grin. ] We go sock sliding, right?
no subject
Of course... All the way to the stables, where we would take Sitron and Kjekk on a ride around the coast.
[Seeing as this was an unattainable fantasy, why wouldn't his best friend be alive for it? In this fantasy world, his brothers hadn't taken everything that had meaning to him.]
And when we returned, we'd help the children with their studies.
no subject
And we love them all, so much. They'd never feel alone. [ she added, more enthusiastic, her fingers tracing patterns on his arm, connecting weathered freckles like constellations. ] And we'd have a dinner with all of them around the table, telling us all about their days.
no subject
But... Not too many. Two at most. [Coming from a family of such immense size, Hans dreaded any of them feeling like an afterthought. If he were with Anna... their home would be filled with warmth and laughter. He knew she would make a wonderful mother.] They'd adore you.
no subject
They'd love you, too. A little boy, and a little girl, just so we can teach them everything. So we can experience it all.
[ She imagined it so vividly- a little girl with red curls, dancing on Hans' feet as he swept her about the ballroom. A little boy, a freckly mess, playing sword fights with his mother in the same room. ]
no subject
Anna... We belong together, you said so yourself.
[He sounded almost frantic about something, pulling back to look meaningfully into her eyes.]
Run away with me. We'll never have to look back, never have to feel that pain again--
no subject
[ she blinked, the change in his tone surprising her. And that was before he even brought up his suggestion, something that widened her eyes and made her go entirely quiet, clearly taking it seriously.
For a second, she considered it. Really considered it, but what about Elsa? They'd just reconciled- could she really just leave her sister now? And Kristoff? They were meant to be married tomorrow-
Her stomach turned, her nerves twisting up inside of her. Two whole different lives, laid out in front of her. The life she thought she was going to live, all this time, with her budding friendship with Elsa and Kristoff by her side, in the castle- everything different but also the same.
And this life- a life possibly far away, a life with just Hans and the stories they imagined, realized. A life where Hans could live, have a chance to be a better person, to be happy. ]
I can't just-- [ her voice broke ] --leave. I just got Elsa back. I just... got my life back. I--
[ She swallowed, gently cupping his face. ] But maybe- maybe I can help you. You-- you deserve another chance. You really do.
no subject
Right-- Of course. That would be-- I'm sorry.
[His heart had noticeably fallen, but he still held Anna close, enjoying the brief time they did have.]
I doubt I'll be able to get out of here without notice. I know what comes next.
no subject
No, no- we have to at least try. Please- you need to try. I can't just- [ She swallowed back tears, kissing his temple, his cheek, before trying to pull back. ] Just knowing you're somewhere else, alive, starting again- you need this. I need this. Please?
[ If they were to sneak him out, they'd have to move quickly, before dawn broke. She couldn't stand the thought of not even trying. ]
I can't just let you die, [ she whispered, hushed. ]
no subject
I need this.
If not for himself, he could do it for her. She would never have to know what happened to him outside the kingdom walls, she wouldn't have to watch his execution. Maybe that would be kinder.]
I'll do it for you.
[He didn't want to, but this wasn't about him anymore. Slowly, he pulled away, kissing her forehead before climbing out of the bed, collecting his discarded clothes.]
no subject
I... okay. [ she said softly, rolling out of bed after him and searching for a robe to wear. She tied it tightly, slipping on some underwear underneath and considering this. How could they sneak him out... The window wasn't really a viable option, given how far up her room was in the castle, so they'd have to go through the halls. ] Don't put on your shoes. We need to be quiet until we get you outside.
[ Her hair was more than a little crazy, but it seemed that it didn't really matter, given she wasn't going anywhere. Instead, she tied it back simply with a ribbon, pulling it into a frazzled bun to keep it as out of her face as possible. ]

I... [ Anna paused, clearly putting weight to that thought. She'd missed Elsa so much- her entire life, she'd spoken to closed doors, sang to them, hoped and prayed Elsa would one day come back. And now, they were together again.
And Kristoff- sure, she realized now maybe what she felt for him wasn't love. But how would he feel if she just disappeared and never came back? How would Elsa feel?
But how would she feel, never seeing Hans again? The amount of change she'd seen in him in just one night, the love, the care he put into righting his wrongs, the way he so honestly told her he loved her--
And she loved him, too. She felt it in her heart, so powerful, and wasn't that what she'd always wanted? True love? How could she send a man she loved like this to his death? ]
Okay.
[ She didn't want to leave Elsa. But maybe- this was the best choice. ]
no subject
Wait, what?
[No, she couldn't possibly-- Could she?
Hans looked into her eyes, showing his own vulnerability. He was trusting her with his heart--she could do with it what she desired.
If that was the case... They needed to get going. He had no idea what time it was, and the servants would be back for Anna in the morning.]
T-then-- We have to go. We have to get dressed and get outside the castle walls before sunup.
no subject
Y-yeah. [ She nodded in agreement, slowly moving to part from him to clamber out of bed, squinting in the darkness and padding to her wardrobe. There were lots of more casual outfits she owned that she didn't need to be helped into, and if they were running away, she supposed it would be better not to look like a princess. Blindly she picked one out with an autumnal palette, neutral with browns and tan colors and a pop of orange in the skirts, pulling up some bloomers and clumsily pulling up her skirts, as well as stockings-- ] You have your outfit, right?
[ she'd ask as she got ready, doing her best to make it so in record timing. After all, her hair was a bit of a... mess. ]

But first and foremost, Hans was fixing his trousers and pulling on his boots. Finishing with that before tugging on his shirt and vest, trying to button them simultaneously and having to start over. By the time he'd finished locating his gloves and putting on his cravat, Anna was starting to fuss with her hair.
Feeling entirely responsible for the state it was in, Hans walked to where she was sitting at the vanity, taking a comb and carefully starting to work out the tangles. What he didn't tell her, was that he picked up this skill when he started caring for Sitron.]
