The 'We're Stranded' Meme

THE ‘WE’RE STRANDED’ MEME

You’re stranded it’s as simple as that. Maybe you were on your way to a nice relaxing holiday, a business trip or maybe you were just on your way home. Whatever the case, it doesn’t look like you’re going to be reaching your destination any time soon. You’re stuck and all you can do is to try and survive until help arrives. If help ever does arrive. Well, at least you’re not alone. No, there’s someone here stranded with you. Maybe you know them, maybe they’re a complete stranger or maybe they were stranded here long before you. Whoever they are you’re going to have to work together to get out of this mess.

What you do to survive and what happens to you is up to you. Do you search for food, do you try and find any signs of human life, do you have a run in with the locals or the local wildlife or do you just close your eyes and hope someone finds you. Whatever happens good luck.

WHERE ARE YOU STRANDED?

On an island – You’re stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere. There’s no phone or radio signal and there are no signs of life (that you can see). It could be a huge island with a dense forest in the center or it could be a small, sandy island with sparse vegetation cover. It’s up to you.
In the jungle – One minute you’re making your way along a jungle trail and the next minute you’re completely lost. You have no idea where you are, you have no idea which way to go and all you can see around you is trees and more trees. Have fun in the jungle. Look out for the wildlife and any local tribes
In space – The sci-fi option. For some reason you were in space. Maybe you’re inside a ship stranded in the middle of nowhere or stranded in the middle of some kind of asteroid field. Or maybe you were outside of your space shuttle and now you’re stranded with no way to return. Let’s hope your oxygen supply doesn’t run out
Open Water – Maybe you were simply out for a swim and the current was too strong, pulling you out to sea. Maybe you were diving and after resurfacing you’ve realized you have absolutely no idea which way is land and your boat is nowhere to be seen. Or maybe it’s a Titanic-type situation and your ship has sunk. Better get your life jacket ready.
High in the air – Maybe you’re trapped in a ski lift high above the ground just like the movie Frozen. Maybe you were on a roller-coaster or a Ferris wheel and the rides malfunctioned. Or maybe you’re just stuck at the top of a really, really high mountain or cliff. Whatever the situation you better not be afraid of heights!
Inside an elevator - This one is pretty self-explanatory. You were in an elevator, the elevator stopped and now you’re stranded inside the small space, probably with a bunch of people you don’t know until help arrives.
A cave – Maybe you had planned to explore the cave system or maybe it was a spontaneous event but you went inside and now you’re stranded with no way out.
The middle of nowhere – This can cover any landscape really: a mountainous area, a desert, the middle of the countryside, a tundra area. Whatever the landscape there’s no signs of human life anywhere. You’re stranded.
Wild Card! – Don’t like any of the options given? Come up with your own scenario!

Setting up a camp/shelter from the rain
Coming into contact with (possibly dangerous) locals/local wildlife
Calling for help
Trying to find a place with better signal
Just generally freaking out

[This was the last place that Peter had ever hoped to find himself: stuck in an elevator with Deadpool. What had he done to deserve this? Scowling beneath his mask, Peter kicked one last time at the door. The only response was the metallic thud that echoed back at him. It was almost like it was mocking him. Peter crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall, not even bothering to acknowledge the other man. If he did, he might really start freaking out.]

[Guess who's freaking out. He's freaking out internally because a man like Wade Wilson doesn't do well in enclosed areas for any amount of time. He only took the elevator because he saw Peter get in.

And he wanted to dance to the easy listening muzak. He regrets all his life choices.

So instead of obviously freaking out, he's going to take his discomfort out on the only other person in the elevator.

By standing as close as he can to him without actually touching]

Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssspidey. Hey. Yo. Dude. Duuuuuuuuuuude. Spidey. Spiiiiidey. HEY.

[It was hard to ignore him. Peter slowly counted to ten, but it didn't seem to really work. Just barely. Worked enough that he didn't flinch at Deadpool's attempt to get his attention. He kept his gaze across the elevator, staring at the unmoving door. Why wasn't it moving? After a few seconds, he spoke:]

What? What could you possibly want from me?

Uh, a conversation? Attention? Acknowledgement? Some human affection? A hug?

Sure, let's have a conversation. Let's talk about how you followed me into the elevator. Why would you follow me into the elevator?

[He turned to scowl at him. Not that he'd really be able to tell. But Peter hoped it was obvious. Heavily implied.]

... Because I really like you? And I'm bad at normal, rational conversations so I figured I'd force my company on you like friendly dog on your bosses leg at a company picnic?

[Oh. Well, Peter wasn't expecting that reply. But it didn't really change anything. He sighed, arms still crossed over his chest, but they loosened lightly.]

...Okay, let's talk. I'll bite. Who knows when we'll be let out of here. What would you like to talk about?

[Wade prides himself on lying very rarely to Peter. He still lies just not as often. It doesn't feel as good lying to him as it does to other people]

Super.

Who're you after in this building? Because I'm after whoever the hell is playing as Green Goblin this time around. Keep forgetting who it is. Can't imagine why.

[Peter blinked in confusion. What...?]

No one. It was a bust. I was looking for someone, but they weren't in the office. There was just a note with a smiley face on it.

[His voice turned suspicious.]

Hey, you wouldn't know anything about that, would you?

No one? Hey spoilers, there's an Osborn in the building and they're a massive dick.

... Or was.

...

Don't have any idea what you're talking about, Peter.

...He should be locked up, at Ravencroft. Are you sure you're after the right person?

[Peter was alarmed. He'd be making a stop at the Institute later now. If Harry was out, he didn't want to think about what that could mean. Or why he didn't know about it.]

... Yeah pretty sure. He shot me. You know anyone else with an ugly goblin getup?

Don't worry, I took care of it.

Wait, what do you mean you 'took care of it?'

[Oh, he was never going to forgive the Goblin for what he did, who he killed, but that didn't mean he wanted him dead. The Green Goblin had once been his best friend. As twisted as Harry had become, he wouldn't forget that.]

Please tell me you didn't.

Okay. I didn't.

But he did fall on an ambulance, so credit where credit is due.

[Peter shrugged. That was fine, as long as he wasn't dead, Harry deserved a little pain. ...Maybe Peter was still too bitter for this conversation.]

Well, at least he's not dead. Good job.

[Peter slid down the side of the elevator, sitting with his knees drawn up, hiding his face against them. If he stayed like this, he could pretend he wasn't inside an elevator.]

I got it on video too.

[Aw man. Wade was hoping to avoid actual human emotion in this elevator. He was so, so bad at this comfort thing. Seeing Peter curl up against the wall like that was disquieting and an uncomfortable reminder that he was just a kid.

Wade shifts his weight around awkwardly for a moment]

Hey, they know the elevator's busted, someone's gonna open it up in no time flat.

[Peter raised his head at that.]

Show it to me when we get out of here? Maybe it's not really him.

[Small hope, but stranger things could happen. ...Like Harry becoming the Goblin in the first place. He shuddered at the memory of the look that Harry had given him.]

Yeah, I know. I just... I'm not good with small spaces.

[He cast his eyes up at the ceiling, wishing for the umpteenth time that there was some sort of trap door - a grate - on it. But there wasn't.]

Yeah sure, whatever floats your boat.

If it helps, neither am I. So at least we're both extremely uncomfortable. Would it help if I punched the door?

I'm just... hoping it's not him, that's all.

[Peter considered for a moment, before shaking his head.]

I've already kicked it, I doubt punching is going to do any good. No reason to hurt yourself unnecessarily. I have bad luck, so you see, we're probably between floors.

Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyeah.

... Could teleport out.

[Peter blinked in surprise.]

...You can do that? Then you should do it! Get help if you can.

Kay. Just gimme your phone number first, I wanna call you and make sure no one else has gotten this shithunk moving yet.

[Peter nodded, and rattled off his phone number to him. He might regret this later, but he'd deal with it then.]

...Okay, go save us now.

[POOF. And Deadpool is gone. About three minutes later, he texts]

[Maybe he shouldn't have asked Deadpool to go and save them. Being alone in the elevator was definitely worse. He kept checking his phone for the messages, and when two texts came through, he scowled down at his phone, reading over them. He should have known. He let out a frustrated sigh.]

Why am I not surprised?

Whatever, it doesn't matter. Just please tell someone I'm in here, alright? That's all I'll ask you for.
