MAY/DECEMBER ROMANCE

A May-December romance is any where there is a larger than average age difference between the partners involved. Sometimes this is met with disapproval, sometimes it is arranged, sometimes it is abuse of power, and other times it just happens and it's no one's fault or doing. This meme focuses on those relationships.

[Is it normal for women to hide their faces in their hands after spilling their hearts? Because that's totally what Orihime is doing. Her face is burning with embarrassment, and red really isn't her color. Her lips are pressed tightly together as her heart jackhammers in her chest. This took way more courage than she thought she had, and now that the words are out, her knees are shaking, and she's flooded with self-doubt.]

[But he needed to know that he isn't feared in this town. Thor has saved them all, probably more often than anyone realizes. Sure, his display of power might be intimidating to those without. Sure, the thunder and lightning makes people jump out of their boots. But he's also kind. His ways are archaic, but not condescending. When he's around, she feels safer. And as one of those rare people with powers of her own, she feels as if he's probably one of the few people who doesn't look at her like a monster, or a freak. She'd follow him to Asgard if she thought it was allowed. She'd follow him anywhere to shield his back and heal his injuries. But right now, all she wants is for him not to go. She laughs awkwardly, feeling the heat of her face radiate into her hands, but she doesn't shrink back. What's said is said.]

I hope I wasn't too forward. I just...I wanted you to stay. And if you don't, then I thought you needed to know I was happy I got the chance to meet you. And grateful.

[Thor has lived a very long life. He has been worshiped and feared; loved and hated. These are things he has grown accustomed to. It didn't change his desire to help, to protect those that needed it. He had been prepared to leave -- to return home and leave these people in peace. It was no place for gods.

And then she said that and he finds himself pausing. It isn't often that he's surprised so thoroughly. Surprised, but not displeased.]

Lady Orihime... [He starts, lips curling as he watches her shield her face, watches her tremble. She was so very kind... and stronger than she realized, he thought. To have her affections--

He reaches for her hands after a moment, his touch soft as he tries to guide them from her face.]

[Slowly she lowers her hands, coaxed by his big and gentle fingers and calm, deep voice. It's much harder NOT to look at him, in all honesty. She's been drawn to the design of his face from the first moment she ever set eyes on him, fascinated by the shape of his jaw, the angle of his nose. There's a lot of character and expression in that face. When he grins, it's infectious.]

[Her fingers curl over his as she gazes up at him, eyes flicking back and forth as she studies his expression for hints of rejection. It's hard to tell if he's pleased, or trying to let her down easy. She stares down at his hands holding hers, just for a few moments, before she finds his blue-eyed gaze once more. For now, she doesn't say anything. It already feels like she's said too much. The words just started tumbling out, and they didn't stop, not even to gauge a reaction before she finished babbling every little secret she's kept in her heart all this time.]

[Warsman is 27 and can be played up to the age of 60 with a canon update- due to being partially robotic, however, he doesn't physically age.]

[Canonically 1500ish as of the 21st century, so could be the December, but also happy to go with canon timeline or AU to play him as May. No partners younger than 18, please - other info is in his journal! Cross-canon and historical/fantasy/sci-fi settings are all equally welcome.]
