But though they were l'Cie, with powers granted them from the demigod fal'Cie themselves, they were at their core, still human. More than that, Vanille and especially Hope were young. It would do them no good if they collapsed of exhaustion; they'd all pushed themselves to the brink already.

Stopping to rest for the night in Oerba, or at least the remnants of it, had its pros and cons. Seeing the empty shells of their homes was heart-wrenching, but maybe it gave a sense of closure to the two Pulse natives, in a way. At least Oerba's surroundings were lovely, much like the majority of Gran Pulse they'd seen.

It's late at night, the kids (as she affectionately called them), Sazh and Lightning have long since been asleep. It's Snow's turn for guard duty, but after laying listlessly for what felt like hours, Fang had given up sleep in favor of seeking out the moonlit beach.

It had started with a tease, that Snow couldn't enjoy the beach in those heavy boots. Snow's coat and Fang's sandals and blue sari-like wrap had begun a pile on the beach. The toned Pulse warrior seemed unconcerned with being exposed save for the black top and shorts she wore.

They'd waded into the water after some prompting from Fang, enjoying the balmy night.

How they'd gone from that to Snow being flat on his back just out of the reach of the waves, and Fang straddling him, she's not entirely sure. It started with a shove, she thinks, ended up with playful wrestling.
