It's an old trope, admittedly, but an understandable one. You're hurt - physically or emotionally - and perhaps even on the brink of death. And then, out of the blue, someone saves you and brings you back. They heal you, they feed you, cloth you, wash you. In the human mind, the intimacies can bring up warm feelings, even in the hardest of hearts. Will you fight them or let them grow? And what about when it's time to leave? You may not feel like leaving your angel...

HOW TO PLAY
1. Comment with your character and preferences. Mention if you'd prefer to play the healer or the healed - or both, for greatest versatility!
2. Reply to others.

["Hawke" was a lucky name. That's what his father always used to say. Like the bird it was taken from, a Hawke always had the fortune of flying away from danger at the last second.

Garrett always found that his father's definition of "luck" always seemed a little funny when it applied to him. Not funny ha-ha funny, but laughably unfortunate but for a single stroke of luck, or miracle, or whatever it was that kept him alive time after time.

It was a week ago, on a routine errand on the Wounded Coast. Everything was going just swell, until the group was attacked by a group of Tal-Vashoth. One minute Hawke was getting ready to blow one of them to bits, and the next he found a pair of arrows sticking out of his left shoulder and his whole body crippled with pain. Some kind of venom? That was unusually clever of them, came his last coherent thought.

He'd have been in line for more arrows had he not unintentionally taken his father's advice and "flown away," taking a step backwards, sliding off the back of the trail and skidding down about 20 yards. One broken wrist and ankle later, he went mercifully unconscious.

Hawke woke up four days later in Anders' clinic. Apparently the venom acted as a muscle relaxant, which was probably the only reason he didn't break his neck in the fall. So in a way, it was kind of funny ha-ha funny, even if Hawke was the only one who thought so. Poor Anders had had his work cut out for him and likely didn't find it nearly as amusing.

It had been a week now. The venom was out of his system, his right arm and leg were splinted and set, and the arrow wounds were wrapped with bandages around his left shoulder. He could finally sit up, and now it was just a matter of time before he could stand and hold his own weight again.

And he was apparently getting antsy about it.]

I could at least hobble here and there. You shouldn't have to be waiting on me in addition to all this.

[he's killed innocents in the name of a cause she believes just, and for that it's difficult to forgive him.

but when she finds his body left for dead, a dagger in his back, templars scorching the city to weed out the mages, she knows she can't leave him even when his friends and companions have. he's helped too many to be condemned such a dismissive death, and with the help of fugitive mages she manages to bring him outside of the burning city despite the increase in patrols and battle. a camp of refugees from Darktown, humans, mages, and elves, people he's helped, people he's healed, people like her.

she's not as skilled a healer as he, a city elf only has access to so much, but she does her best, removing his robes and using what few healing spells she knows to patch up the deep wound, cleaning it, stitching vitals together with magic and when that becomes too much, she finishes her job with thread and needle. she bangages him with gentle and nimble hands, smearing salve over the stitches, allowing him to rest in one of the few tents they managed to recover for themselves.

he's helped her once when an older templar had burned her and left her for dead in the Gallows (condemned of seducing him with blood magic when she did no such thing), so it feels only right to return the favour as best she can. and even as her adoptive brother assures her that she's done the best she can, Esmeralda still checks on him frequently, redressing his wounds as best she can with their limited supplies.]

[Could be the healer, but more likely (and reluctantly) would end up as the healed. I'd prefer F/M for romance and smut.]

[As far as dumb decisions went, this one could have been worse. It was early evening, the sun wasn't even down yet, and the bar wasn't bristling with the usual types that made dive bars like this so uncomfortable for Johnny.

But, trouble followed Johnny like a dog, and he pissed off the one guy in the bar who'd been drinking in the bar since noon. Drunks were easy to piss off, especially when you were brutally honest and saw all their sins. Johnny was half hoping the sun would set in this bar, just so he could properly trash the guy, but the Rider wouldn't be coming out at least for the next two hours.

Down Johnny went, with a bottle to the head and two hooks to the jaw. Police were called, and it was the drunk that got hauled away.

Johnny, on the other hand, was resisting the EMTs]

There are a lot of shinobi lessons that Gaara missed out on, growing up. Things that didn't involve being a stronger and scarier shinobi just didn't seem all that important when he was ten and angry at everything. At the time, he didn't really care all that much, and no one wanted to take the risk of pushing him on it. Normally, it isn't a big deal these days. He's caught himself up a little, and rarely needs things like first-aid skills anyway. But now, faced with a friend and temporary teammate who needs him to have those less-fatal skills, he finds himself regretting his former aggressive apathy.

"I will do my best," he promises Hinata, kneeling beside her against the cover of a large boulder. They're in the River Country, and the joint Konoha-Suna mission they're running is now officially under attack. One ambush defeated, they know it isn't the end.

She's bloodied and bruised. Of course, he isn't - but he's tired. And he will only get more so as they keep fighting onward.

Rich's not sure where he is, or when, or what is happening whatsoever. His head feels stuffed with cotton, except it's made of asbestos fibers. And his body, he's not sure he can feel that at all, right now. But he's awake, that part he's familiar with. (Saal. Xandar. Phalanx. He's getting real familiar with this feeling, of another match with Death, whether he actually won or lost...)

He makes an effort to open his eyes. That's usually a start, right? But he's not fully sure it works, even if the colors of the wavering blobs in front of his eyes kind of change a bit.

Words are out of the question just yet, but he does manage a groan. That's something, right?
