The "just scroll" line wrt bakerstreet is pretty much the equivalent of anons sticking their fingers in their ears and going lalalalalala I can't heeeeeaaaar you!

The problem is that we end up just scrolling through a whole page of content where half of it is just a re-posted clone of what came right before. People play less because content so quickly gets bumped off the front page by posts that are virtual repeats of it.

Bakerstreet is meant to be a place for people to roleplay, not a place to come and "just scroll" like you're reading tumblr where it doesn't matter if you see the same shit two dozen times.

This isn't anyone's personal musebox and it's not your tumblr dashboard! This is a DW RP community.

Community means that it's here for communal use, and if people are going to post here then they need to be considerate enough of others to see beyond the ends of their own noses.

You sound like somebody whose complaining that they're too many kinds of chocolate ice cream in the store.

Chocolate crunch ice cream and chocolate with raspberry ice cream are not the same ice cream, even though it may seem that way to somebody who doesn't like chocolate in general.

And you had to dig through all the infinite variations of chocolate to get to the mint, burning your hands in the process

The store has much more then 20 slots in front of the shelf, and most people manage to find the get the mint ice cream or the or the vanilla ice cream they want with no problems, it seems.

It is also perfectly possible to post on a meme which is not on the front page, yanno. I do it all the time, after all.

Same here. I like smut and thread plenty of it, but 3-5 smut memes in one day is overkill. I don't even bother seeing if any of them might actually interest me anymore, I just scroll right on by.

I occurs to me that a great deal of the front page problem could be solved if we asked the mod to put more memes on the front page.

I think we might be able to put 35 or 40 memes on the front page without having to worry too much about loading times getting too long.

We all know that you are one of the worst offenders about this anonyhamster/whineandcheese/or whatever your two dozen different meme socks are.

Nothing you say is ever going to change the fact that you continually act selfishly by not being considerate of those around you.

What you're saying here amounts to "Well I see the difference between these things, so no one else matters." But you are in a community space, and you (and others) need to grow up enough to learn how to be considerate of other people who use that space, because this community really really isn't a stage for YOUUUUU!

I have a suggestion here.

Since it seems like lots of people want their memes to stay on the first page as long as possible, what about trying putting more memes on it?

I think we could probably put 35 or 40 memes on the first page without any problems, though I'm not sure about the loading times if we put on any more than that

It would definitely cut down on the people complaining that their meme or the meme they wanted to play in had slipped away from the front page already, however.

I also think it might be a good idea to add a sidebar that shows the post titles on that page, if possible, to make things as easy as possible to look for.

Also, there really is no need time-wise. At 20 memes max, the one at the bottom is from the 10th. 2 days ago. If someone has time to check once a day, they're going to see everything.

agreed. This is more annoying and intrusive to me than whether two memes on the front page seem similar or not.
