Congratulations, Tribute.

You have been selected to participate in The Hunger Games.

The rules are simple: there can only be one victor.
You have to kill everyone else before they kill you.

Put on a show for us here at the Capitol—this is a big deal, after all, and you should be honored to be selected.

The last one standing wins.
May the odds be ever in your favor.

It's recommended that you include a bit about your character in the body of your comment instead of leaving it blank: vital stats like which district they're from, their strategy in the arena, their performance in the pre-game training rooms, etc., to provide others with something to work off of.



1. PRE-GAME: before the bloodshed
Before your world goes to hell, preparations are made. There are parties in the Capitol, the splendor of which you and your fellow tributes finally get to enjoy—for the last time, in most of your cases. There's training to be done, too, with the rest of your tributes in the Training Center and alongside your mentor.

2. MENTOR: shoes to follow in
Your mentor's duty is to guide you to victory. They understand better than anyone what's about to happen as the Games begin—and they know they aren't likely to see you come back.

3. ENEMIES: in for the kill
The truth is you've been plotting each other's death for a long time. The only thing different about this situation is that everyone else actually wants you to off each other. Who cares if both of you are probably going to die anyway: no one is taking this bastard down except you.

4. ROMANCE: lovers in a dangerous time
What do lovers do when they know they're about to die? Last kiss, last words, last fuck? Maybe you're desperately trying to protect each other from the rest. Maybe you're the last two left alive. What sacrifices are you willing to make? How far will you allow each other to go?

5. ALLIES: set your arms down
It's in both of your best interests to stick together. Two together is more deadly than one, and you can pool supplies and weapons. Of course, this arrangement is most definitely temporary. Maybe it'll fall apart tonight, or tomorrow, or next week. Maybe your alliance has already run its course, and it's about to fall apart...right now.

6. TORTURE: death's not the worst
Sure, the point is to kill them. But why leave it at that? Maybe you've always secretly gotten off on this sort of thing, or maybe you've just cracked under the stress. When everyone is going to die, there's no point in sticking to all those rules society laid down for you any more. You've already incapacitated them; there's no way they can fight back. Might as well have some fun, right?

7. BETRAYAL: one victor
An alliance can only lat for so long in the arena. It doesn't matter how long the two of you have been working together or what you thought you had. Finally a breaking point has been reached—is it the tension, does it feel like your options have run out, is this the perfect opportunity to get them, or are you the last two left? Someone has to come out on top. In the end, there can only be one victor.

8. VICTORY: the finish line
You've done it. Last one standing. You've chosen to live, and no one but you knows how much that choice cost you, because they're all dead. At this point there's nothing that will stop you from stepping up to claim victory. You killed every other tribute. Or did you?

( ooc: valerie's mutation is the ability to mess with the flow of time — ie: she can make the outside world slow briefly so that she can have more time to complete a task or, in this case, run away. she has very little formal hand-to-hand training and had never shot a projectile weapon before being selected to be a tribute. i'd put her at about a 6 or a 7, slightly above average because of her mutation but not remarkably so because she's basically just a regular girl. )

(tribute/recent victor from district 3. won his hunger games by luring the two remaining tributes to separate locations where they each triggered a tripwire that then launched small projectiles towards them, essentially shooting them without a gun. the projectiles were from an arrowhead that he had repurposed from one he had been shot with early on in the game, but he had been fortunate enough to have a wealthy benefactor who had sent him a cream to apply to the wound, since it was just of the flesh.)

[Pansy grew up with a keen knowledge of all her District's victors; as such, she feels very comfortable walking straight up to Tony and introducing herself. After all, Maria Stark was from her District, and even though her son followed in his father's footsteps, there is a rather large degree of fondness for Tony at home, and District One cheered his victory as loudly as they would have cheered had their own Tributes won. Sadly, Tony cannot be her mentor, since he is from District Three, but that doesn't mean he can't still be useful for her.

The Games haven't begun yet, as the whole Capitol was waiting with bated breath for all the Tributes to come trickling in from their Districts, which means Pansy is basically allowed to do whatever she likes, including attending parties for those who wish to place bets on who is likely to emerge victorious. It's early days yet, which means this party is mostly an excuse for everyone to get drunk together, but Pansy can work with that.

After slowly making her way through the crowd, Pansy engineers it so that she winds up right at Tony's side, reaching for a flute of champagne the same time he does.] Tony Stark. [She smiles at him, cocking her head a little, and extends her hand towards him.] Pansy Parkinson, I'm from District One. I have to say, your performance was very impressive in last year's games. Congratulations on your win.

Richard Cypher | Sword of Truth Series

(Richard has excellent mental and physical capabilities, both with his bare hands and with weapons. Has fought in many battles for his life and for others. I would put him at between an eight and a ten. He has an unbelievable amount of knowledge on surviving having spent most of his life as a woods guide. He is above the normal age of a tribute but I would be glad to play him younger or have him be a mentor, which ever is preferred.

I would say Richard would come from District 11 or 12, just because he is not one to be like the careers and they resonate the most with me for him when thinking of it. I am willing to change that up however and place him in another district for fun and games. Pretty much up for anything.)

Cassie Lang | Young Avengers

[ Cassie is from District 8 and is the daughter of a victor, Scott Lang, who died a few years ago in a mysterious accident. It's rumored that he was trying to sabotage the Capitol in some way along with a few other victors, but was found out and killed. Since then, Cassie has sought answers and quietly tried to train herself, against the wishes of her mom and stepdad.

When she gets picked as a tribute, there's some excitement due to her being a "legacy" tribute. She first shows some mid-range prowess at hand-to-hand combat, but when someone angers her during training, she accidentally grows bigger due to the powers she didn't know she'd inherited from her father. After that, she's advised to spend most of her time at the tamer stations, but finishes each day by growing larger and practicing forms of combat at the others.

If you want her as a victor, then she wins by a combination of sheer brute force and survival skills. The tributes she kills, she kills in close hand-to-hand combat. ]

( ooc: for this meme we're going to forget hp canon entirely and say that pansy has no magic talents and is simply a district one career tribute. while she was raised training for the games, she was never going to volunteer to be a tribute herself, because that's suicide. pansy is too clever for that kind of thing. but nevertheless, she was picked and it was utterly inconceivable to let someone else go in her stead (the shame), so here she is. she's tailor-made for the games: pretty, cunning, ruthless. she knows how to play to the cameras, and she already has many wealthy patrons lining up to send her gifts during the course of the games. )

( it wasn't so much that tony cared about any of the other tributes that drew him to the skinny little boy from district six. in general, he hadn't paid them much mind. of course he had casually observed them during the training sessions, but he already had a plan. he knew how he was going to survive, or rather, he knew at least that he was going to survive. to win. he had to. it was about family honour. both his mother and his father, from district one and three respectively had won their games. it would bring shame to the family if their only son didn't do the same.

but this kid had spunk. one of the careers from district one had said something tony hadn't caught on one of the first days, and then suddenly a fight had broken out, and even though it probably caused a lot more bad than good for him, it had shown that he had a fire in him. maybe he would have, well not a chance, but he might be a somewhat valuable ally, at least at the start. his own district partner, well, she didn't have a chance. it was her first reaping, and since her name had been drawn she hadn't stopped crying (thankfully it wasn't sobbing anymore, but the tears never really stopped). he had worn an expression of pure disgust to his fellows when no one stepped forward to volunteer for her. and he already knew what he had to do. her parents had come to him before he was taken off. they had, crying too, asked for him to take care of her. to get her out of the bloodbath, and then to kill her himself. they said they had told her about it, too. because at least he would do it gently. at least, as gently as was possible.

they were at a party, currently. one of many, and frankly for tony they were all starting to blend together. they didn't matter much anyway, not to him. he schmoozed his way around of course, charming and flirting just enough, but sometimes he needed a break, which is why he had seeked this steve rogers out. he had a drink in his hand as he sidled up to him, and then, well, no need to be anything other than straight forward, right?)

Jemma Simmons | Agents of SHIELD (tw suicide)

[ Jemma Simmons is from District 3. She's extremely intelligent and generally works as an experimental physicist and inventor. During training, she spends her time at the more intelligence-based stations, like Edible Plants and Insects, Fire Making, Snare Setting, etc. She also quickly becomes adept at using a slingshot at that station. (Optionally: when Jemma is picked as tribute, her long-time best friend Fitz volunteers to go to the Games with her.)

If you want to play her as having won the Hunger Games, then: She and Fitz spend their time hiding from the other victors and surviving with their combined skillset, but eventually they accidentally contribute to the death of a tribute when he gets caught in their snare, and other tributes find and kill him. After that, they begin to fashion a plan to kill the others. They kill the tributes that aren't part of the main surviving alliance with poisonous darts from a blowgun they make. After Fitz and Simmons argue about Fitz committing suicide with the poison to let Simmons win, Fitz is given the last remaining item they need to complete their plan, which he takes as a sign that he is supposed to kill himself, despite the pain it will cause Simmons. He commits suicide just before Simmons is to kill the others. She follows through with the plan, electrocuting the remaining tributes and becoming the winner of the Hunger Games. ]

His father is essentially a Capitol lap dog and specializes in building top of the line explosives and other weapons for them as needed. JD's mother disliked her husband and being constantly under the Capitol's watchful eye caused her to eventually commit suicide by willingly walking into a building her husband was just about to blow up. Her death, coupled with his father's horrible personality and the idea that he's being groomed to die in the Hunger Games, have driven JD to resent Panem society at large and causes him to feel little remorse about anything he does once in the arena. He's very intelligent, probably a little too self-confident for his own good sometimes, his weapons of choice being explosives and firearms. )

[ a tribute from district seven, reaped sixteen years old. like most he started work at a young age, so he's strong, but not particularly fast. he comes from a family with a couple of siblings.

in canon he's placed seven of top ten graduates, but he also is the only one to die, so i'd rank him about a six or seven in his games. he's strong, and he has some familiarity with the woods and the creatures in them, along with a quick recollection, but not much else. would probably end up killed, if one wanted to play that as an option. also a bleeding heart, totally the type to end up trying to ally cross-district. ]
