The person you care for the most been pushed to the edge. How or why doesn't matter so much now, what matters is that now, they're a danger. To themselves, to others -

To you.

But you're the only one who can bring them back. The bond you have - realized or unrealized - is the strongest weapon now. You have to help them. If you don't, they could be lost forever. Or worse, someone else might have to take action. And if that's the case, it may as well be you.

HOW TO PLAY

- Reply with your character and preferences.
- Mention whether or not you want to play the one reaching out or the one being reached or if you're open to both. Seriously guys, this is important, don't just leave your comment blank. Feel free to include other relevant information.
- Tag others.

TYPE OF BRINK

- Power Surge: Their abilities are going nuts and they can't control themselves.
- Anger: They're beyond the pale in their anger, perhaps at something done to them, done to you, or the situation in general. They're going berserk.
- Sadness: The despair is destroying them. They're wailing, self-destructing, or even catatonic.
-Mental Breakdown: They're not aware of what's real or what's not anymore. They're frightened or lashing out.
- Possession or Brainwashing: It's not them, but it's their body and they're somewhere in there. You can reach them.

WHAT YOU DO

- The Truth: A confession about how much they mean to you might remind them of what's important.
- Touch: Reach out and pull them back.
- Comfort: Do anything that's special between them to reassure them that you're you and it's all right.
- Embrace: Hug them, either for the merit of hugging itself or to hold them back physically.
- Kiss: Extreme cases call for extreme measures.
- Violence: Whether it be a slap or a full on gut punch, maybe they need some manual recalibration.
- Risk: You'll jump into the line of fire just to stop this madness.
- Shock: You plan to do something so out of character it will bring them back to reality.
- Passivity: If need be, you'll let them hurt you as much as they need to get it out of them.
- Mercy Killing: You can't get through to them. But if anyone has to kill them, it's going to be you.

Doctor Aodhagán Adler - 'Please just call me Egan,' when someone-everyone stumbles over how to pronounce Aodhagán (EH-gahn, in case you were curious) - looked at his patient who was sitting at attention. How someone could sit so straight and proper without a back brace was beyond him and it looked rather uncomfortable and stood out in the relaxed setting. The office was decorated in the style of an old gentleman's club, with wood paneling, bookshelves, dark leather armchairs and warm wood throughout. Even the lit fire was meant to put his clients at ease. Aodhagán set his tablet aside and poured tea into the two cups, offering Steve sugar and cream, before leaning back.

"How did this week go, Steve?" His rumbling tenor left the question open ended so that anything that came to mind could be shared.

[He'd been dropped off at the school shortly after being discovered alive and reincarnated. The hope of Asgardia had been that growing up away from Asgardia would help to keep Loki from growing up back into what he'd been.

They either hadn't realized or hadn't cared that the old Loki had been a known and hated threat to people besides Thor.

Not everyone had been terrible. He'd made friends - or thought he had, because Loki didn't have much of a frame of reference - with a girl his age who insisted on being called Leah and an older girl apparently named Rogue, among a scattered handful of others. But mostly, it was a quiet, miserable, lonely existence. He'd mostly avoided making use of his magic unless required by class because, quite frankly, Loki was just as afraid of it as most everyone else seemed to be.

Maybe, if he'd had a bit more control over his powers - or any control at all - he could have saved Leah from the Doombots that attacked the school one day. He didn't know the reasons why. He didn't care. All he knew was that Leah died and there was no one there to save her.

Loki disappeared after the battle, before the dust settled. But the school would barely have time to recover before he appeared outside the gates, godly Engelfire licking his fingers and following in his footsteps, and the light of blind, animal rage in his eyes.

Let them burn. Let everyone burn.

And he'd started by raising his hands and trying to wrend the freshly reconstructed gates down with magic alone. A screech of tortured metal would attest to the fact that he was suddenly allowing himself a lot more power to work with.]

[Rogue, in her own, strange way, tended to become the friend, adopted sister, confidante, or whatnot of the children with nowhere else to go. The ones who came from big families and the like tended to get along with each other. The ones who went somewhere for holidays and called their parents at least once a week didn't need her. She was there for the ones who would otherwise be alone. She took even more of an interest in the ones who either didn't embrace their powers or couldn't be trained too much.

Because she got them. Her own power was only used in cases of emergencies. She fought alongside the others in sims and the like, but never with her powers. Because they hurt others, even when she didn't mean to, and they were best reserved. She was, in a way, a shining example of being part of a team without using one's powers.

The doombots had come without warning and without mercy. They tore through the security and decimated a lot of the Institute. By the time the last one was taken care of, there were several dead, more missing, and almost everyone was injured in some capacity.

Rogue was still pretty bandaged up under all her clothes, and she wasn't sleeping well at all. Which was why she was the first one out onto the lawn after that sound. She expected Magneto and was prepared to raise the alarm more than it would already be. What she saw...]

[In the end, Steve finally tracked Bucky down at one of the labs where he had been transformed into the Winter Soldier.

Steve had been looking for the place, looking for any clues or information he could find on what had been done to his best friend, above and beyond the file he'd been holding on to. He was hours too late, and so only found it in the end because the flames from its destruction reached that high.

He still rode out there, knowing that there was only one person who could have caused that much damage. Knowing that this might be his last, best chance to reach his old friend.]

It seemed that the lab had been in use, after all.

They had been trying to create more like him - take a human being, strip away everything that made them a person, and turn them into a tool, a weapon.

He'd killed the experiments, and burned the place down with the scientists alive and inside. He stood, watching the fire. Hydra would be coming soon, and he didn't intend to let them take him alive. He was going to take out as many as he could before they destroyed him.

He would recognize that man even if the light of the fire wasn't shining off his metal arm.

Steve isn't sure if the rumble of his motorbike's engine is audible over the tumult of the base falling apart, but he guns it down the road anyway, around a couple of abandoned jeeps. Only at the last second does he hit the brakes hard and skidding to a stop, tires screeching, just a few scant yards from the soldier.

He makes to take off his helmet, but thinks better of it. With this much fire, it's going to get hard to breathe soon. Instead, grabbing his shield off the back of the bike, Steve gets to his feet and calls out: "Bucky!"

He turned, eyes wide. Not HYDRA. The man from the bridge. He would recognize that voice anywhere. Steve Rogers. The man from the museum exhibit. The man he had apparently been friends with as children. A childhood he didn't remember. "Steve?" He asked, voice weak. He wasn't moving, feet frozen in place.

He intended to die here, Steve Rogers or no. He wasn't going to fight, the man wasn't his enemy any longer, but he wasn't going to go. He was going to wait for HYDRA and he was going to destroy them until they destroyed him.
