Arthur sipped his own drink. "That he does." He was genuinely happy for Cobb and especially the kids. The last thing he wanted was for Pippa and James to grow up without their father. That's why he stuck around for so many years, making sure Cobb didn't get into too much trouble.

She admired Cobb more than anything, especially now. He had fought for the longest time, looking for a way to get home to his family. And now he had what he wanted. A silence fell between them as she stared inquisitively at Arthur. Why was he doing this?

He caught her looking at him and met her eyes with a gaze of his own as he sipped his drink. Silence fell around them.

When she realized she was staring and that he had noticed, she face flushed and dropped her gaze to her glass. A glass that seemed to have emptied it without her realizing it. "Well this isn't awkward."

He gave her a rueful smile before pointing to her empty martini glass. "Do you want another?" He was almost finished with his whiskey anyway but maybe that should be his last.

"I'm debating it. I'm a bit of a light-weight, so it would pretty much do me in for the evening. And then you'd have some serious entertainment" She cringed when she though about the last time she had actually gotten drunk. If she remembered correctly, the same girlfriends that had invited her out the night before were to blame for that particular event.

He laughed. "Okay, no more drinks for you then." While working on the Fischer job, they went out for coffee from time to time, sometimes also lunch, but it was different now that they didn't have that looming over their heads.

She let out an exasperated sign. "If you say so. You're missing out on some quality entertainment though." Maybe it was the two beers prior and the martini, but she finally got up the nerve to ask him. "Arthur, why do you do what you do?" she hoped he knew what she meant. She was trying to be discreet because they were in public and what he did wasn't strictly speaking, legal.

He got what she meant and he shrugged in reply before speaking. "I get to travel. I get to do the impossible," he said, hoping his reply wasn't too specific about his occupation, since, yeah, they were in public. "I'm not doing the same thing everyday."

She nodded, not entirely satisfied with his answer as she spun the stem of the martini glass between her fingers. A nervous habit she did when she was thinking. "Is it still exciting?"

He smiled at her almost childlike question. "Yes, it still is. I've been in it for a decade but it's still the most...exciting part of my life." He could understand why she was asking and he felt a pang of guilt for basically luring her back into all this.

It had all been an experience she would never forget. And now she felt like a fish that was flirting with a worm. A devilishly slick worm. She smiled at him.

"So how about that view?"

He raised his brows. "You want to come up?" He asked, hoping he didn't sound too surprised and thrilled.

"Yeah. I think that would be nice." She waited for him to come around the table and pull out the chair for her and followed him.

Arthur did just that, pushing in her chair after and then leaving a tip with the bill going to his hotel room. They walked over to the elevators and took one up. When they got to his floor, he opened the door to his hotel room. It was just as nice as the rest of the hotel - everything expensive looking and antique with it's own separate bedroom and bathroom. Arthur took off his jacket and tossed it onto the couch before going over to the balcony and opening the doors. The view was definitely impressive with the Eiffel Tower in front of them and lit like a birthday cake in the night.

She had to keep herself from rolling her eyes at the posh decor of his room. Did she mention that he had nice, expensive taste? To her surprise, the view was in fact, very impressive. Jaw dropping, from the expression on her face. She sauntered out onto the balcony, keeping her hands in her jacket pockets. "You were right; it is beautiful view."

"Told you." He went and stood next to her, leaning against the railing and looking out. Paris was by far his favorite city. There was a certain charm about it he didn't find anywhere else.

She mirrored him, letting out a relaxed sigh. She still couldn't grasp the sheer beauty of Paris at night; all the glittering lights, it made her fall in love with the city even more. "Well, you've convinced me to stay here the next I'm in town."

He looked over at her and smiled. And then a moment later, he reached over and curled a lock of her hair around his finger.

The moment his fingers touched her hair, goosebumps sprouted up and down her arms. She turned to look at him, and returned his smile. She tilted her head against his hand.

"Hey," he said, lifting her face towards him with a finger under her chin. "Can I kiss you?" He tried to look as relaxed as possible, like he's done this a million times before. Of course, with his lifestyle, Arthur wasn't a stranger to the occasional one-night-stand, but obviously Ariadne was different.

He was looking at her with those puppy dog eyes of his, the city lights were helping make them twinkle, it was enough to make her knees weak. When he asked permission, she didn't wait to give him an answer, she leaned in kissed him. She closed her eyes, trying to relax the tightening in her chest.

He kept smiling when their lips met, one hand on the small of her back and the other on her waist, pulling her into him more, wanting that contact.

She couldn't hold back her own smile at the feel of his against her lips. She was keenly aware of his hands as she wrapped her arms around his neck so that they were pulled against each other.

He hummed against her lips before parting to breathe. "Well then..." He trailed off with a chuckle.
