[ train to the afterlife meme. ]

the train to the afterlife meme.
congratulations! your character is dead — for whatever reason, whether it be canon, au, what have you. it'll be a bit of a journey to the afterlife, though, so your character might as well talk to the other people. death knows no place: most of them are strangers, even from faraway worlds. but death knows no time either, so who knows, some of them may be familiar people, whether recently deceased or long so. maybe your character know how they died, maybe they don't. perhaps the memory is fuzzy, or perhaps it's crystal clear. maybe it was simply their time or maybe they weren't at all ready to go, but none of it matters. your character knows they're dead and the train is taking them to an afterlife.
oh look — here comes the snack cart.

>> POST your character.
>> TAG others.
>> HAVE FUN.

[Are you ready? Would she honestly ever be? She hadn't be ready for anything that had been thrown at her and while she'd managed to survive as best she could, it hadn't been a good existence.

She gives a nod of yes that quickly deteriorates to a no as fresh tears fall. This could be the end, she could possibly never see him or anyone ever again, plunge into a lonely darkness that would be a fitting punishment for her own sins.]

I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I just -- I need you to know that.

[Her breath comes in fast bursts, gaze shifting away from him as her other hand moving to push open the door. Small rays of light start to peek through as the metal creeks, her brows furrowing slightly.]
mindscapes: abigail (we'd be different from the rest)

[It doesn't seem right for Abigail to be crying in her last moments. Isn't the afterlife supposed to be about eternal bliss or something along those lines? And yet this entire train ride has been nothing more than a string of torture, a set of reminders of all the things that have gone wrong in their lives.

Maybe it's because there isn't much that's positive for them to focus on.

When she apologizes, Will shakes his head vehemently.]
You don't have anything to apologize for. [Hannibal has plenty to apologize for, on the other hand, and he never would. That's the problem, his complete lack of remorse...

Will just has to do his best to not think about what he's done with their bodies.]

I'm sorry. I shouldn't have believed you were dead. I should have at least looked for your body.

[But there isn't much time left. The light's flooding into the room now, impossibly bright, and Will can no longer see Abigail even though he can still feel her presence at his side.]
illecebra: (Some kind of resolution)

[Isn't that just the joy of being human... Something she could cling to in knowing she wasn't a complete monster. Remorse. True monsters didn't have remorse and while she's not perfect, she hadn't stood a chance from the beginning. Not with how much manipulation had been woven into her upbringing.

The warmth she feels from the light seems to still her tears, wrapping around her like a gentle hug. It's in that moment that she knows everything's gonna be okay. She gives Will a small nod, even if he can't see it, hoping he's feeling the same peace she's starting to feel.

As the light reaches a blinding level, she says the last thing she hopes he'll hear.]

Thank you for being there for me, you'll never know how much you touched my life.

[In her own way, she truly cared for him though this is as close as she can get to saying the actual words. Maybe, if things had been different, if she'd trusted him instead of Hannibal - she wouldn't have felt quite so monstrous.]
mindscapes: (when you're staying up counting omens)

[It doesn't seem right for Abigail to be thanking him when all he did was drag her into a series of horrible situations that led to her death, but Will doesn't fight her on it now. There doesn't seem to be any point, not when they're at the end of the line and his body is feeling lighter and lighter with each passing second, like he's dissipating into nothing.

That should frighten him, but he actually feels... oddly, at peace. Maybe that's just what happens when Death finally comes. He doesn't have it in him to fight it, not when he never had anything like peace in his actual life.]

I could say the same to you. [Will has no idea if his voice is even reaching Abigail anymore, if she's even still in existence, but he says the words anyway. Or... thinks them? Projects them outward, is maybe the most accurate way to describe it.]

All I ever wanted was to do right by you and give you a chance. Abigail...

[But that's it. Everything has whited out, he's lost all sense of his physical form, and then the light turns to dark and there's nothing.

Nothing but the quiet.]
