( road trip )

{The Road Trip Meme!!}
It's that time of the year again! You decided to take a road trip!
Either to your friends, relative, or perhaps an event,
but oh, my goodness, what will happen along the way?
• Post with your character name/fandom/options preferences.
• Use RNG to pick your possible scenario - or just go with what you'd like most.
• Reply to other people's tags. Use RNG, mix and match, or just wing it!
• Enjoy!
Situations:
1. BREAK DOWN
- Oh, snap, your car decided to break down out in the middle of nowhere. WHAT DO? Is that Leatherface? Will this be "Children of the Corn"?
- You've stopped at a gas station. They're out of gas, snacks and the bathrooms are out of order. Wat do. (Zombie attack optional.)
- Is this even a good idea? Why is their backpack leaking suspicious substances? Go wild.
- Dude, I hear deer mess up cars... or I think that was a deer.
- Alas, you're the parent or the disgruntled friend who has had it up to here with all the fighting in the back.
- No, no, and no. You tell that person that they're going to be driven around and they're going to like it.
- Either dinosaurs or the mothman is chasing you. Don't stop now.
- You're now parked in one of the make-out points in this town. Did you know? Well, that's up to you, as is what you do next.
- The map blew away when you were stupid enough to open the windows earlier. You know that old stereotype about how men never ask for directions but women will? Time to see if you're going to prove it right or not. Try not to fight over it too much, driving partners.
- Those flashing lights in your rearview mirror? Definitely not just for decoration.
Relationship (optional):
1. BUSINESS PARTNERS: The jet was undergoing some heavy repairs, so you have to drive to that big meeting.
2. BFFS/ROOMIES: On your last hurrah before you join the 'real world.'
3. NEWLYWEDS: You're a young couple on your honeymoon! Hope this doesn't ruin your relationship.
4. SIBLINGS: Whether this is a trip to reconnect or to fix things or to just deepen your bond as epic sibs is up to you.
5. PARENT & CHILD: It's like a family vacation for the two of you. try not to get on each other's nerves too much?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!
[After an emphatic and heartfelt touchdown dance in the middle of the road, one very ecstatic Momotarou rushes back toward the vehicle, his arms flailing wildly.]
Nanase! NA-NA-SE! Did you hear Rin-senpai?! HE SAID WE CAN GO TO THE LAKE! The lake! The laaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!
[Forgetting that it is, indeed, his turn to ride shotgun this time, Momotarou instead belly flops onto the back seat, wiggling and hopping around and shrieking about how happy he is, about reptiles, and about the laaaaaaaaaaaaake.
Completely unaware that he'd open some tightly-sealed can of worms between his two seniors.
Sorry, Haru -- he's too busy doing the worm.]
This is going to be awesome!

He can hear Momo's elated cries from the back seat, but more than that he knows he's going to have to continue the journey still sitting next to Haru with the elephant firmly shoved between them and trying to change the station on the radio with its trunk.
But it's a choice between Haru and their awkward turtling, or Momo jumping around like a Duracell rabbit next to him. It's sort of like asking would he rather have someone whap him over the head or step on his foot: he would prefer neither, but he's going to get one and each is going to leave a bit of a bruise but nothing serious. The most irritating part is remembering how swiftly Haru's exit (stage left) happened and how it felt like an indirect rejection even before they'd ever really broached the topic directly. It doesn't outright depress Rin and he can't blame Momo for being an otter in a china shop, it's just a bit dejecting and draining in the middle of the outback.]
Fuck Australia.
[Yeah, that was grumbled in English as he slumped back into the car (he'd bet money if there were any English words Momo knew they'd be the curse words) before starting the engine up and getting them moving.
Returning to their commonly shared language, Rin glares at Momo through the rear view mirror.]
Don't come crying to me if when we get there you jump in and get covered in leeches, got it?

But that, at least, might shift the rather awkward weight he feels between himself and Rin. Actually, maybe talk about leeches will manage that for him. (Haru thinks Rin is exaggerating about anyone getting covered in leeches; he's sure he's just saying it for effect, but he keeps his opinion on the matter to himself.)
Mostly, he's preoccupied with wondering whether Rin is upset about the boyfriend thing: Is he mad because he avoids thinking about me liking him? I guess I ought to try and avoid bringing it up again then...
So instead he stays silent, just checking the map (which he's not very good at reading, to be fair) and watching the road signs. His only contribution to the conversation is to provide directions.]
The turning should be coming up here. [A turning onto a much narrower and obviously older road, sign posted with "Weight limit 5 tons" and "Not suitable for long vehicles."
Actually, with what those signs portend, Haru has the first inkling that just maybe, possibly, this detour might not be the very best idea. But they're here now, so he says nothing about it.]

Then breaking out into a cheeky grin.]
Silly senpai, everyone knows you just burn leeches off!
[Actually, it's not the best idea, and might even be the worst thing you can do, but it's not as if Momotarou's considering that. And besides, who cares? They're going to the lake!!
He leans over the back seat, his face popping up over Haru's shoulder as he peers down at the map, which might as well be written in Greek to him. It's obvious the Mikoshibas aren't a family of cartographers (or safe tour guides), but he'll pretend to understand what Haru's pointed out, if only because he suddenly got so quiet -- well, more quiet than usual -- and Momotarou didn't want to upset their chances of going to the lake.]
Okay, sounds good, roger that, ten-four.
[The five minutes haven't passed yet, so he's just going to stay back here, unintentionally making things more awkward between Rin and Haru.
Wait, hold on.]
It's too bad I can't drive. Otherwise, I'd take over the wheel and let you guys sit back here. There's a lot of room, you know...
[Okay there.
And if he'd get elbowed, well, no one besides him would get upset.]
no subject
He's not irritated at Momo for the situation; his bumbling has been completely without malice and he wasn't to know that he's stepped on a proverbial emotional landmine that instead of exploding on him has blown up on Rin and Haru instead. He's also not mad with Haru; it's not his fault Rin hasn't had the courage to actually come out and express any of his interest in him so he's not to blame there either.
If he's mad at anyone, it's himself for not making better life choices and putting off important decisions.
Pausing at the supposed turning, Rin is again not sure how he feels about all this, but to deny them the detour now would be pretty bad of him. It's not a bad road, it's just not as smooth and well-accessed as the highway. Shifting to a lower gear, he sighs and makes the turn.]
Even if you did drive, what makes you think I'd let you, Momo?
[IGNORE THE OTHER POTENTIAL IMPLICATIONS. JUST IGNORE THEM.]
