( road trip )

{The Road Trip Meme!!}
It's that time of the year again! You decided to take a road trip!
Either to your friends, relative, or perhaps an event,
but oh, my goodness, what will happen along the way?
• Post with your character name/fandom/options preferences.
• Use RNG to pick your possible scenario - or just go with what you'd like most.
• Reply to other people's tags. Use RNG, mix and match, or just wing it!
• Enjoy!
Situations:
1. BREAK DOWN
- Oh, snap, your car decided to break down out in the middle of nowhere. WHAT DO? Is that Leatherface? Will this be "Children of the Corn"?
- You've stopped at a gas station. They're out of gas, snacks and the bathrooms are out of order. Wat do. (Zombie attack optional.)
- Is this even a good idea? Why is their backpack leaking suspicious substances? Go wild.
- Dude, I hear deer mess up cars... or I think that was a deer.
- Alas, you're the parent or the disgruntled friend who has had it up to here with all the fighting in the back.
- No, no, and no. You tell that person that they're going to be driven around and they're going to like it.
- Either dinosaurs or the mothman is chasing you. Don't stop now.
- You're now parked in one of the make-out points in this town. Did you know? Well, that's up to you, as is what you do next.
- The map blew away when you were stupid enough to open the windows earlier. You know that old stereotype about how men never ask for directions but women will? Time to see if you're going to prove it right or not. Try not to fight over it too much, driving partners.
- Those flashing lights in your rearview mirror? Definitely not just for decoration.
Relationship (optional):
1. BUSINESS PARTNERS: The jet was undergoing some heavy repairs, so you have to drive to that big meeting.
2. BFFS/ROOMIES: On your last hurrah before you join the 'real world.'
3. NEWLYWEDS: You're a young couple on your honeymoon! Hope this doesn't ruin your relationship.
4. SIBLINGS: Whether this is a trip to reconnect or to fix things or to just deepen your bond as epic sibs is up to you.
5. PARENT & CHILD: It's like a family vacation for the two of you. try not to get on each other's nerves too much?

because he's Wolfram and he's special.
Once they were actually on the road there was still a good five hours to be had, and with a full tank there was hardly a need to stop anytime soon. Sometimes he tapped along with the music or muttered to himself in that distracted way he'd always pulled off. Driving was peaceful, almost calm, especially since they wouldn't be passing much of anything worth commenting on.
But eventually they made it to their destination - though not before Terra had to pull off into a gas station and find an above average hotel they could stay at. He wondered how long they might be gone, he didn't have too many paid days off, so hopefully whatever was bothering Wolfram would settle itself relatively soon, though Terra could never bring himself to push his friend that way.
After calling and making a reservation Terra completed the very last leg of the trip, pulling into the hotel parking lot.]
maybe he broke it like the GPS. also sleepwear is still a nightgown in this AU, fight me.
The last five hours of the trip passed relatively quickly for Wolfram, his boredom mostly appeased by the music. At one point, he does doze off for about a fifteen minute period, but then that's it. He's awake again by the time they reach the hotel, and he gets out of the car to stretch.
Unfortunately, the thought that Terra might have a limited amount of days to spend out here with him hasn't really crossed his mind. Which could be seen as selfish, but sometimes he simply forgets that Terra actually has to work for a living. It's just not something that reaches his mind very often.
He heads to the backseat in order to pull out his bag, hastily packed prior to the call he'd made to Terra out of the blue that had set this whole trip in motion. All it really has in it are a few changes of clothes and his nightgown - this whole thing hadn't been very well planned or even thought out, not on Wolfram's part. The goal had just been to get as far away from his house as quickly as possible.]
that is a fair possibility and oh gods the nightgown
The hotel really was nice and though Terra didn't realize it until they went through the usual and boring process of room assignment, keys, and actually ending up in said room. Terra himself didn't really have much but a well worn backpack, some clothes that didn't match, and his computer. It made the room feel oddly spacious, two beds, heavy curtains, and that freshly cleaned smell.]
Thank goodness! [Terra dumped himself on one bed, laid out on his back and stretching his arms.] Now I just need a bacon cheeseburger, and everything will be perfect.
his nightgowns are like my favorite thing lmao
He tosses his bag onto the other bed once they're inside the room, taking a cursory look around the place. It was nice. It got Wolfram's approval.
Those words get an eyebrow raise from him though, and a teasing smirk pulls at his lips as he turns his head to look at Terra on the bed.]
Really? Just one?
[It had been several hours since they last ate though, so he certainly wouldn't say no to getting some food.]
they're amazing. Also tipsy Terra coming back and cuddling Wolfram y/n??
Just one if I can have onion rings with it. Two, if not.
[But food is a good idea and for as much as Terra sort of wanted to drop off into sleep he would just end up waking in the very middle of the night. Besides, the hotel restaurant looked like it had a bar, and there was a gift shop, too. Terra would usually avoid drinking around Wolfram for reasons, but it had been a long day.]
Want to get something a little healthier than McDonald's?
[Though if Wolfram wanted to stay behind that was alright too. Terra didn't need to be attached at the hip! ... Most of the time.]
yes please! also let me know if this doesn't work for whatever reason?
At the next question asked, he looks up from his bag and takes a second to consider. Food would be good. But he was already kind of tired. Honestly, he sort of wanted a shower. He'd been close enough to cows to hear them. A shower was practically required.]
Bring me something back. Something leafy. Grilled chicken salad, maybe. I'm taking a shower, but I should be out by the time you get back.
[This is all said as he pulls a white nightgown from his bag and heads over toward the bathroom. He stops at the door though as he realizes something, and turns back to look at Terra.]
...You wanted pictures or something, didn't you? We doing that tomorrow?
Looks great to me!
Leafy, grilled chicken salad it is.
[Terra had grabbed his wallet and shoved it into his back pocket, he was near the door when Wolfram spoke again.]
Yep! There's a boardwalk, so I thought we could check it out. For now just get some rest.
[And hopefully that would get Wolfram's mind off of his family for just a little while. With an upbeat goodbye Terra left his friend to the shower. The restaurant hotel was not only nice but those happy hour drinks? They guaranteed that Terra would be gone for not just a single hour but three. For the briefest moment he though Wolfram might be too worried, that he could at least send a note to their room or something, but then he got to thinking about Ven and ... It was just easier to drink. How he remembered to order Wolfram food was something else, and making it to the elevator and back into the room was no small feat either.]

I think you mean Wolfram's an unbearable mystery.Once Terra had left, Wolfram took his time in the shower. It hadn't been his intention going in, but it was too comfortable after having spent the majority of the day stuck in the car. He dawdled for about an hour, before getting out.But Terra still wasn't back. That wasn't unusual. He'd expected to get out before Terra returned, anyway. He donned his nightgown and lazily used a towel to dry his hair, eventually getting bored enough to try the TV. There wasn't much on, which just meant that Wolfram fell asleep with the remote control in his hand, laid out on top of the blankets of his bed. And he stayed in the land of slumber for an hour and a half, but woke rather quickly at the sound of Terra coming in. He wasn't exactly quiet about it. For all Wolfram knew, he may have thought he was, but he definitely wasn't.
Sitting up in the bed, he turned the TV off and put the remote on the side table while frowning sleepily at Terra.]
...Are you drunk?
no subject
He also didn't have enough sense to realize that Wolfram was awake, so when his companion spoke Terra about jumped out of his skin and then he was most definitely flailing a bit.]
Oh man, [He already sounded so guilty, maybe he was about to apologize for drinking or something-] I woke you up didn't I? Wolf's gonna be so upset, fuck!
[So, so very drunk, 'Wolf'ram.]
But I got you a gift! [With the way he was rocking back and forth, unsteady on the balls of his own feet, maybe it was better that he collapsed on Wolfram's bed, even if Terra did almost miss it by an inch.]
no subject
He feels a slight flush along his cheeks at the accidental pet name. That shortening of his name was only ever used by his family, so it seems vastly personal to hear Terra say it. Not necessarily in a bad way, though. Terra sort of was family.
And he's about to ask him why he'd been drinking, because honestly it was concerning, to say the least. But then Terra's collapsing onto his bed and his eyes widen in surprise. Quickly he pulls him further onto it, and incidentally closer to himself, so he doesn't accidentally fall off the edge.]
Was this a gift you bought before or after you got intoxicated? Because it if was after, you might want to rethink giving it to me.
[And if it was something cow-related Wolfram might actually kill him.]
no subject
Even from the very far off universe Terra's brain has flown off too, Wolfram's touch still registers as Good and Safe and Necessary. So when he pulled Terra not only followed, he shuffled up and wrapped his arms around Wolfram's torso, his head awkwardly craned along Wolfram's lower back.] You're warm. [That had nothing to do with anything. There was no telling if he was just too out of it to remember anything outside of a few seconds or if he was smart enough to avoid answering the question because he had definitely bought the gift after.]
Wolfy, give me a hug!
[Drunk Terra is a demanding one, especially since he's already kind of squeezing, like Wolfram was not following the program, refusing to lie down. But then again in Terra's head they were already cuddling so it was really a matter of his brain and body working on two entirely different tracks. There wasn't any way to explain the weird, half moaned, half growled noises from his throat, though. Those were a mystery.]
no subject
[That was a very undignified noise of surprise coming from Wolfram, one torn from him the instant Terra practically attached himself to him in a sudden cling. This is all very new and strange, he's never had to deal with a drunk Terra before. Though it is kind of sweet in its own way. But there's still the nagging feeling of why, one that brought worry with it. Especially given their earlier topic of conversation. He's regretting having not gone down there with him.
He sighs heavily and wraps his arms around Terra while leaning back against the pillows, giving in because it feels nice, because he wants to. Even though the squeezing is a little much and he's not sure what the hell is up with the noises.]
Are you going to keep doing that all night? Because I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep with you making weird sounds in my ear.
[That's a lie. Wolfram could fall asleep during a stampede if he was tired enough.]
no subject
For now he was content to adjust as Wolfram laid down, wrapping the other man in a complete, full on burrito hug.]
Nah. [A quiet moment.] Probably not. Probably. I don't know.
[At the very least laying down seemed to be calming him down. He settled down for a good five minutes before squeezing Wolfram closer, nuzzling the back of his neck until his lips met Wolfram's ear, and he at least knew to whisper when he did speak, though it was more like a rough, quiet hum forced into words.]
Nothing bad is ever gonna happen to you. I'll kill whoever tries to take you away.
[Unfortunately Wolfram's fears were easily validated, but maybe it would be difficult to focus on that since the loss of Terra's filter was .... Interesting, to say the least.]
no subject
He rolls his eyes just slightly at Terra's response to his question, even if he is sort of just amused by it. He really didn't mind too much Terra being so clingy, though. Other than his mother giving him squeezing hugs each time she saw him (when she was around, that is), he didn't really get much affectionate physical contact. He had an urge to pet Terra's hair, and wondered if he'd remember him doing it later and if that would make things weird.
...Whatever, he's doing it anyway, bringing one of his hands up from its resting spot on Terra's back to gently stroke his hair. And then Terra's nuzzling against his neck, and whispering in his ear, and the flush comes right back to his cheeks. Not just from the contact, but also from the words. They make his heart clench.
He knows that asking Terra questions while he's in this state would be unfair. Probably he should just tell his drunk friend to go to sleep already. But... it's hard to resist.]
...do you see me as your brother? Is that why you're so protective? ["Am I just a replacement?" That one he still couldn't quite bring himself to ask. He was afraid of the answer.]
no subject
Really, Wolfram shouldn't feel even slightly guilty about asking whatever he wanted. Terra would do the same, he considered it to be part of the experience, you couldn't expect to keep anything secret if you ended up smashed.]
No, that's dumb Wolfy. [He sounded like an exhausted, overgrown cat. Even if he meant his insults they still couldn't be taken seriously.] I'm protective because you're sad 'n because you think you don't need to be protective. [Protected. Whatever.] Everyone needs that. People need things, a lot of things all the time. I have the thing and I love you, so I give the thing.
[It was really that simple. Despite the serious questions Terra made himself even more comfortable, one of his legs wrapping with Wolfram's, one arm rest over his chest and stomach.] If I thought that kind of thing about a brother I'd be an even worse person, there's nooo way!
no subject
Also he'd just told Wolfram that he loved him. And implied that it wasn't platonic. He's inclined to believe him, he really is, because he wants to. It feels nice being told such a thing, especially coming from Terra, who meant the world to him and who was usually so emotionally reserved. But he was also drunk... So what if Wolfram had just misunderstood him? Either way, he can't just ignore what had been said.
He wraps his arm a little tighter around Terra, pressing a kiss into his hair.] I love you too, you drunk dork. Now go to sleep.
[That salad he brought back for him may be a little wilted in the morning, but at this point he doesn't really care. Not enough to push Terra away to go get it, anyway. Food could wait.]
no subject
So the food waited and Terra's breathing evened out. For a good ten minutes the hotel room was quiet, the rest of the world far off, leaving them unbothered.
But there was no way it could end that peacefully!]
They had a cow print nightgown in the gift shop. S'on top of the salad.
[Wrapped in cow print wrapping paper. With that little gem announced Terra could finally sleep once and for all, a little smile on his face.]
