THE ALPHA/BETA/OMEGA MEME


In our world, sexual roles are commonly defined by genders -- male or female or other, by sexualities -- gay or straight, bi or asexual or in-between. But what if they were defined by something else entirely?

Alpha/Beta/Omegaverse is a fusion of fanfiction tropes and animalistic behavior. In this world, sexual roles are divided into three categories: the Alphas (the dominant, the protective and the aggressive), the Betas (ordinary humans) and the Omegas (submissive, fertile and able to carry children).

ROLES:
1 - The Alpha.
* Stereotypically type A personalities.
* Anatomically: Males have a penis; females may have a penis in addition to a vagina.
* Alphas knot their mates, meaning that the base of the penis swells and locks them inside their mate while they produce copious amounts of semen in an effort to breed.
* Strong sense of smell.
* Near an Omega in heat, they experience a compulsion to mate that is almost impossible to overcome.
* Alphas may go into rut, which is their equivalent of Omega heat, and drives them to mate.

2 - The Beta.
* Ordinary human being.
* Males have penises; females have vaginas.
* Can mate to anyone.
* Might be able to smell hormones of Omegas and Alphas, but will not be overwhelmingly affected by them.

3 - The Omega.
* Stereotypically submissive, quiet, intelligent and less physically able.
* Female anatomy is similar to Betas; males are self-lubricating and may have either an external or internal vaginal setup.
* Regularly go into heat, which involves being overcome by the urge to mate. They are unable to consent while in heat.
* May be made compliant by a bite to the neck. However, that may also induce a mating bond.
* Often regarded as second-class citizens or prizes to be won.

SITUATIONS:
1 - Bonding - Love at first sight. You've spotted your soulmate. You can smell them, you can feel them, you know that they'll be with you until the end of your days. Unless there's something between the two of you. It could be age - maybe one of you has to wait until the other has reached maturity. It could be that the bond is one-sided, and the other has yet to fall in love. It could be an unwanted bond, or society could have divided you into different places. Is your love strong enough to conquer?

2 - Heat/Rut - The need is coming on you strong. Everyone for a half-mile around can smell it. Better find someone to ride it out with, or hole yourself up in a room with a few bottles of water and a durable sex toy. And you'd better hope that there isn't someone out there who will take advantage of your pliable state. Best case scenario, there might be a Beta who can take care of you, or fend off anyone too predatory.

3 - Pregnancy - Whether through a heat or not, you're pregnant. Congratulations - or condolences. Is it time to start a family, or time to start panicking?

4 - Suppressants - You're using suppressants to keep yourself on an even hormone cycle, skipping heats, or maybe pretending to pass as a different class of society. After all, Omegas might want to be in the military, where they're not usually allowed - or an Alpha might want to take a job in a university or as a nurse. Shouldn't they be allowed to, if their hormones are suppressed? Just hope that you don't miss a dose.

5 - Mistaken Identity - That friend that you always thought was an Alpha, or an Omega, or a neutral Beta, turns out to be something entirely different, and your world is turned absolutely upside down. Does it challenge your preconceptions? Or does it just ruin the balance between you two?

6 - Unlikely Pairs - After all, there's no actual reason that Alphas have to mate with Omegas. Maybe two Omegas can satisfy each other. Or two Alphas. Or your intended mate could easily be a Beta. Maybe this is just about breaking out of your pre-established role and becoming something new.

7 - Manifestation - In some cases, an individual may not know they are Omega, Beta or Alpha until their first heat/rut/manifestation, usually happening in early teen years. It may take you by surprise; it may be a blessing, or may be a deep disappointment.

8 - Other - Adventures in getting jobs, making families, fighting bad guys, and anything else you can come up with!

The gentle pass of his hands along those small feathers draws a shiver of delight and Gadreel presses closer to his mate with a pleased sound. "I would like that, Sam. If they are preened often, it will help with the healing process."

But more about that later. Right now he can simply bask in the intimate touch, his hand moving across Sam's chest and familiarizing himself with the lines of his body. "And I would like to know what brings you pleasure Sam. What you like."

"Anything I can do to help." Because he wants Gadreel to be healed, to be entirely himself and comfortable.

He bends his head, pressing his lips gently to Gadreel's mouth. "There is plenty of time to show you and to learn. For both of us."

"You have, Sam. I had never known such acceptance and care, even in Heaven. This is my home. With you." In the bunker with Sam and his pack, he's finally had time to heal. To let his grace recover and his wings slowly fill back in. "And soon a family."

The kiss is soft and gentle, much like the first kiss when he'd been presented to Sam and Gadreel makes a soft, pleased sound into it, curling closer to his mate. "I want to learn Sam."

"You will. You absolutely will." Sam smiles at his mate. "I'm confident in your abilities to learn anything."

He reaches out, taking Gadreel's hand with his own, bringing it up to his chest. "For example? My nipples are pretty sensitive. I like having them played with."

Some Alphas wouldn't worry about this, showing their Omega what they liked. Some of them never thought beyond where they could stick their dicks. But Sam wants a partner and this is the best way for that.

That faith means everything to the Omega and he curls closer, wing tucking around them as he does. He brushes a thumb across the peak of a nipple, watching the skin react before lowering his head to explore the texture with his lips.

"An angel's wings are very sensitive as well," he offers. "I would very much like to experience the sensation of you inside of me with your hands deep in them." Just mentioning it is enough to have his body begin to react, his heat starting to ramp up again but it's easier this time, less overwhelming.

He smiles at Gadreel's request, releasing his hair to reach out and brush his fingers against the inside feathers of the nearest wing. "I would like that," he replies. "I would like that a lot."

Gadreel smiles against his skin, pleased at the reaction. Boldly he moves, shifting to straddle Sam's hips, his wings mantling behind him, settling against his back. Leaning down, he kisses his jaw, working slowly down his neck.

The drive of heat is diminished this time, so he's going to learn a little more about his mate's body. Gadreel kisses down his jaw and neck, tasting the warm salt on his skin.

There is really nothing that could make Sam happier than that move, to be honest. The fact that Gadreel feels comfortable enough to do it, to take that bit of control? Is something that Sam loves.

He tilts his head back, giving Gadreel more room to explore, reaching up to slide the fingers of one hand along the feathers near the arch of his wing.

Had it been anyone else, Gadreel would likely not have felt bold enough to make such a move. But Sam was a kind, considerate mate. A partner rather than one who wanted to dominate. And now that Gadreel had experienced intimacy, bonded completely with Sam, he wanted to explore a bit on his own.

His wing flares in response to the touch, lips grazing his jaw and moving down his throat.

Sam licks his lips, letting his eyes drift closed as his fingers drift over feathers, careful not to dislodge anything. Not until he has a better idea what he needs to do. His other hand comes up, curling into Gadreel's hair. "You can bite, if you want. Nothing above the neckline, though." It was hard to explain a hickey when you were playing an FBI agent, after all.

Even the light play of fingers through his wings was enough to send shivers of delight down his body and along his vessel. He shifts a little lower, groaning at the fingers in his hair. That felt good. Amazing, really.

Nothing above the neckline. He nips along his collarbone before simply sucking a mark into his chest. Marking Sam as he'd been marked. He's Sam's. Sam is his. "I will be careful."

Sam bent his head, kissing Gadreel's hair. "I trust you," he replied, fingers massaging lightly against the angel's scalp, the fingers of his other hand working their way into the softer feathers beneath the top layer.

Gadreel has little doubt that once he teaches Sam how to preen his wings, he will wind up a boneless pile of angel on their bed. The feel of warm fingers along his slowly healing wings sends shivers down his body. He kisses down the line of Sam's neck, lingering over the curve of collarbone before finding a suitable spot to graze over with blunt teeth. Just enough to nip at the skin a little.

Turning his head gives Gadreel more room to explore, even as Sam lets his fingers do the exploring for him. If he knew about it, the very idea of 'boneless pile of angel' would be very enticing to him. He shifts slightly, rubbing his renewed erection along Gadreel's skin as his fingers tug very lightly at a few of the longer, tougher feathers. Not enough to pull them out unless they were already loose, but definitely enough to be felt.

The tug draws a startled groan out of Gadreel as he rocks his body down against Sam's. Not too hard, just enough to send a spark of pleasure through his grace and kindle his heat.
