There's no need for elaborate backstories for this AU. You go into heat, rut, whatever you'd like to call it. You've always done so since you were of age to do so. It's a socially accepted norm, and people have gotten used to the difficulties that come with the mating seasons. Life goes on.

Isn't this alpha/beta/omega, then? No, not at all. In this meme, there are no gender-variant genitalia unless your character comes prepackaged with those. No giant cocks - again, unless your character is already packing - or self-lubricating assholes or anal wombs, and no knotting. Unless that's your thing. There's also no set in stone roles with regards to dominance and submission, and some people do not even feel the inclination towards either. Still, there are a few similarities, mainly being that the pheromones of others can put someone into heat that was not in it before and the bond between mates. In addition, some humans/human-stand-ins have created packlike dynamics in response, but this is not universal.

In this meme, it's just regular old human...oids feeling the urge for sex. And by "urge," we of course mean all-consuming drive. If characters choose to ignore that urge, it will backfire on them. The more they put it off, the more they will lose their control, becoming more irritable and aggressive, and eventually be nothing but a rutting animal until the need to mate is satisfied. Not all heats call for mating, of course, and most people can just relieve themselves, but when you do mate, you feel the urge to stay by their side and essentially "nest." These desires don't always pan out into offspring, and mating isn't forever unless it's mutually decided upon. However, impregnating your mate is said to be one of the most euphoric experiences a person can have, even if some people only mate because they want to utterly possess someone, as mates are bonded for a while.

"Nothing. Nothing at all. Hey, shouldn't you be, ah, lying down? Here? With me?" He flopped on the bed, giving her the most innocent of all innocents look, one step shy of fluttering his lashes.

Giving a soft huff of a laugh, Dara moved up against him, her body curling against his and her fingertips absently drawing shapes and lines at the waistband of his boxer shorts. "It's a me thing. To answer your question from before. I hate clothes. I kind of only wear them when you guys are hanging around the loft."

"Oh?" That was interesting. He hadn't pegged her as a nudist, but he was finding out all sorts of new things about her. His skin prickled with goosebumps around where her hand was playing and he leaned in slowly, moving to kiss her. "It's a hot thing."

Dara hummed a little and smiled against his lips after closing what little space lingered between them. She liked this, this felt nice. A large part of her hoped that she remembered just how nice it felt once her heat was over and she was back to herself, so that she'd still want to do this with him in the future. The cuddling and kissing, that was, not the being with him. The being with him, she was pretty sure she was going to want anyway, though he hadn't shown an awful lot of interest in it when she'd mentioned it before, so...again, not thinking about that just now. "You think so, hmm?" she asked, her lips brushing against his as she spoke, pulling only a hair's breadth away from him to respond.

"I do, yeah. Kind of liking finding out these things right now, actually. Like that little dimple in the small of your back. And how smooth your skin is. Really smooth, by the way. Soft. So soft. Soft is good." He murmured against her mouth, kissing at her and sucking on her lip gently before letting it go and giving her breast a light squeeze. "You're beautiful." Said simply and honestly.

The compliments that were tumbling from Stiles' mouth were largely expected given the situation but she pulled back a little when he told her she was beautiful. Dara searched his eyes. "You really think that?" she asked, because sexy was one thing. Hot was one thing. Beautiful was on a different plane.

He looked at her like she was a little off kilter for a moment before smiling and nodding. "Um, yeah. You know that." How could she not? She was a werewolf that could hear and smell the reactions of everyone around her. Surely she knew that she caused men to stop and stare.

Dara leaned in to kiss him again, gentler this time, and closer to chaste. "No, I didn't," she admitted as she pulled back again, resting her forehead against his. "I didn't know that." And it's honest, because Dara didn't ever make it a habit of intentionally latching onto scent cues or heartbeats. When it benefited her to do so, of course she did, but on a regular basis for normal, every day conversation, she didn't bother. There was no point. "Nobody's called me that in a really long time." Because, again, sexy and hot are not in the same league, she doesn't think, as beautiful is.

"You should know that. You're gorgeous, Dara. That's kind of... I kind of thought you were pretty aware of that. You're... I mean, it's not like anyone could mistake you for homely." Nope. No wallflower Hale here.

His response elicits a bright smile, probably brighter than he's ever had the luck to see, because these days, smiles are so few and far between for Dara that she's pretty sure most of the pack thinks she doesn't even remember how. "I'm glad it's you, Stiles," she tells him. "Right now, for this. I'm glad it's you."

He doesn't want to think of what would have happened if someone else had been here when she'd gone into heat, so he nodded, eyes dropping. "Yeah, me too."

Dara doesn't miss the way his eyes avert away and her smile drops away with them. "What's wrong...?"

He shook his head. "It's nothing." No, it was something, but it was something he didn't feel he had a right to ask about.

Uptick. There was an uptick. Dara pulled away from him a little, brow knit with concern. "You just lied..." she blurted out. "What's wrong...?" Did she say something? Do something? She was trying to replay the last few seconds of their conversation for the part where she'd made the mistake.

Shit. Stupid werewolf senses. "It's not... look. I just... It's stupid. It's really, really stupid and I don't have... it's just stupid." That was true enough and he was trying to work around saying it to her while not lying.

Dara deflated. Whatever was bothering him was really bothering him and he wasn't willing to tell her. "It's not stupid, I want to know. What's the matter?" Her brow was creased with worry that maybe he was wishing he had taken her up on the suggestion to call another werewolf, after all.

She wasn't going to let up, was she... He sighed, turning to her and looking down at his hands before trying to meet her eyes. "I just... I guess I wonder if you would have been okay with one of the others. If they'd been here. Or if you wish I'd left."

That was...a confusing answer. She'd just said that she was glad it was him. Of course she didn't wish he'd left... "I mean...yeah, I would've been okay, but that's kind of the operative word. I wouldn't have been good. I wouldn't have been happy. I wouldn't have preferred either of them, Stiles..." she told him, looking him in the eye when she said it to make sure he knew that she meant it.

"Not even Scott?" He loved his best friend. Really. Loved him like a brother. But there'd been a little envy sneaking in here and there, considering the Lydia thing and the whole leaving Stiles in the dust thing.

"Especially not Scott," Dara replied a little too quickly and with a little too disgusted a wrinkle in her nose to be considered polite. Honestly, if she'd had to pick between the two werewolves aforementioned, she would've preferred Isaac because he was her beta once upon a time. She liked Isaac. She hadn't ever thought about fucking Isaac, but he was way more likely than Scott. She really didn't get on well with Scott at all. Mating with him would've been a chore, she thought; too full of himself and secretly arrogant to give a good goddamn what felt good to her. Isaac was submissive.

...and Stiles was already interested. The interest was mutual, though she'd never said so.

That surprised him. Everyone loved Scott. Well, everyone except Jackson, but Jackson was a dick and didn't count. He gave her a surprised look for a moment, thumb in the corner of his mouth being quietly chewed on. He'd probably be more disturbed about Isaac, to be honest. Isaac was a jerk. Too submissive and too quick to jump to being aggressive. Plus, what the fuck was up with the scarves? Jerk. Douchy jerk.

"Huh."

Yes, Dara. That was his reply.

"Stiles...?" she asked, after giving him a moment to mull it all over more than he probably needed to, but...knowing he was Stiles and he'd big, fat do it anyway, she figured she might as well let him. "...you had no idea, did you...?"

She huffs a little, slightly amused and a little surprised. "You think it's a coincidence that you're the only one over here most of the time and that I don't ever kick you out?"

"Um..." He hadn't really thought about it, actually. He just didn't always want to be at home sometimes and she hadn't kicked him out. He'd wondered why the other two never stayed, but he figured it was wolf stuff.

Always wolf stuff. "I... thought you just ignored me."

Curling against him again, Dara shook her head. "I mean, yeah, sometimes I was just ignoring you, like when you watch fucking Spongebob Squarepants," she replied honestly, "but most of the time, I just like having you around. ...you're the only one who feels like pack to me, anymore. I like it that way."

"Me?" Yeah, okay, that took him by surprised and he looked down at her where she was curling up against him. "Did you hit your head anytime recently? Is this some aspect of werewolfy heat I don't know about?"
