The Captivity Meme

THE CAPTIVITY MEME

You've been captured -- or maybe you've been held captive for a while now. Whatever the case, you've lost your freedom, and there's a specific person responsible for that. You might be a prisoner, a mental patient, a kidnap victim, or someone's pet. Maybe you're there willingly, or maybe the choice has been taken away from you completely.

Both smut and non-smut scenarios are possible. If you don't want to play smut, please indicate so in the title line of your tag.

1. Leave a tag with your character. Be sure to include any limits on what you are willing to play, as this meme has the potential to be triggering.

2. Someone else tags in and uses RNG to generate a number between 1 and 9. The second character is holding the first character captive now.

3. ???

4. Profit!

Scenarios

1. For their own good. Does this person really think they could make it on their own? It's a big, scary world out there, and you need to protect them from it, whether they like it or not.

2. For the good of society. Forget protecting this person -- it's your duty to protect the world from them! Maybe they committed a terrible crime, or maybe they were falsely condemned, but it's your job to keep them locked up where they can't do any more harm.

3. Because they're not well. How's your bedside manner? Whether you're Florence Nightingale or Mildred Ratched, you're in the position of ministering to the mentally ill. Maybe this person genuinely needs your help, or maybe you're just turning a blind eye to their true sanity.

4. For the money. Higher aims? What higher aims? This person is your meal ticket, and they're staying put until their loved ones pay up.

5. For their love. It might be a case of yandere, or it might be a consenting BDSM relationship. Whether it's by mutual agreement or by force, you're keeping them simply because you love them.

6. Because they're cute and fluffy. Who's a cutesy wutesy? They are! Yes, they are! This person is your pet now. Maybe they're a different species from you, or maybe you just don't care that you're both people. Maybe you're even an alien zookeeper looking after a new acquisition.

7. Because they're your property. Slave? Livestock? Who cares what they think - they're our property, and you decide their fate.

8. For the lulz. Hey, what's a little bondage between friends? You'll let them go, once you're done laughing and snapping photos... maybe.

9. Choose a scenario, or combine several.

"If I fail, I will nevertheless return and accept your judgement. I swear by my mother's name."

Not that Elijah would know what such an oath means to him, but the steel in Alucard's voice suggests it is not one he gives lightly. He holds the position for a few moments more, then slowly rises.

"Here?"

It's an oath, Elijah will take that. He will punish Alucard regardless if he doesn't do what Elijah wants. He nods to the witch, who raises her hands to murmur a spell. The barrier trapping Alucard in the cave vanishes. There's no visible sign of this that Elijah can see, but he knows that when the witch lowers her hands, it's done.

He steps back, gesturing for Alucard to leave the cave. "The barrier has been lifted. Now, why don't we discuss how this arrangement is going to work?"

It's a show of faith on Elijah's part. He expects Alucard to be more forthcoming.

A subtle ebb of power, and it's done. Not a spell Alucard is particularly familiar with, but one he can at least sense. Still, it's only at the gesture that he steps forwards; though they've an agreement, it seems prudent to continue the deference.

"As promised, I can deliver it to anywhere you wish." There is the briefest of pauses. "I would like a way to contact you, as well, or to contact someone who can get a message to you."

He's not expecting something to go wrong- and quite frankly, he wouldn't put it past Elijah to consider it betrayal if there is a delay. But if there's a complication, it would be best to notify him of such as quickly as possible.

Or his witch, if there's an arrangement between the two other than containment.

"You can contact me through Tamara," he replies, indicating the woman beside him. "She'll give you an address to deliver to. You will of course do all of this in secret."

Just to be clear, telling anyone else what he's up to would also count as a betrayal. That's one promise Elijah will deliver on.

"As far as anyone will be concerned, I've requisitioned it for a project unrelated to my disappearance." Which is entirely true. "My goal is to give them no reason to suspect anything is amiss, and therefore no reason to throw their lives away."

Not his life he's worried about. Their lives, since they're already so frail.

"Will Miss Tamara be accompanying me?" He seems indifferent to the idea, but better to understand now than later.

Elijah glances at Tamara, letting her answer for herself.

"If I'm needed," she replies. "Am I needed? Who are we going up against?"

Alucard may be half-witch, but Elijah's guess is that Tamara has more power than he does, being a full-blooded witch. So, she may come in useful.

Elijah's actions give some information that Alucard files away for later. So he does have allies.

"Not necessarily," he answers Tamara. "They should be able to remove the protections, but they're somewhat time-sensitive even if done correctly. If all goes well, it could be done in four days. I asked for a week is in case something goes wrong."

Such as suspicions, but his sheer position in the Agency should allay those. Should.

"If you come, I can explain you as a partner in this project; otherwise, I'll contact you once I have it in my possession."

Tamara looks to Elijah this time, and he nods. "Go with him."

He says no more, but she'll know what to do. Keep tabs on Alucard and report back. Incapacitate him if he tries to betray them. She's competent; he trusts her to do this.

Before they go, however, he turns back to Alucard. "One last thing. Who are 'they'?"

It's unfair on Tamara to send her to face an unknown enemy. And Elijah wants to know more about what they're up against too.

Alucard arches his brow. "The Agency," he says simply. He mentioned them before. "Paranormal defense. More to the point, a group of people with skills and powers who are dedicated to one another and the general populace of the world."

A beat. And then he makes eye contact with Tamara.

"Only a few understand what I am. They trust me."

Let me handle them remains unspoken. Not a compulsion- his nature seems to have traded off some abilities for others, and that one remains difficult at best for him- but a request.

Tamara nods at Alucard. She understands. Even if Alucard did have the ability to compel, it wouldn't have worked on her. Witches are immune to compulsion. That's the only reason Elijah hasn't tried to compel Alucard.

He mentally files away the information about the Agency. It could come in useful, and he'll see if he can find out anything else about them too.

For now though, it seems they're ready. Elijah glances between them.

"Contact me if anything goes awry." It's in their best interests to do so, after all. They can't fail. "The clock starts now."

And he leaves, disappearing from the cave entrance with supernatural speed. Alucard has one week. Time is counting down.
