[Sonas's eyes light up, and he removes the bottle from his lip, jaw dropped to inspect the label.]

Blessings alike! I've—I've never had wine so pleasing...!

[A pause.]

What did you do to get this???

[ mako could back out, and korra would let him go because she knows, she knows she shouldn't force him into anything, especially not like this — but she knows she wouldn't be able to spend the rest of the night with him. above all else, that's what she wants to do: just spend the time with mako.

she was too selfish and too stressed to appreciate it before, and feeling that realization bubble up within her causes tears to sting at the back of her eyes. but mako's hands, warm as they slide over her, don't let her dwell on that for too long, pulled back to the moment, the heat of him against her, the barrier of their clothes. another breath leaves her and this time she pushes a hand against mako's chest to get his back on the ground. to her left naga whines and sits herself fully down, but korra pays no more attention to her best friend as she strips herself of her shirt. ]

I killed a buffet's worth of antelope for this Lalafell moneybags passing through. I think he wanted to make a stew to feed all of his guests. It's right sinful, but really who am I to condemn anyone? I can understand poachers even in the best of times.

[O'gnya holds his hand out, hoping he won't have to headlock Sonas to retrieve his prize.]

[Sonas sighs, then takes another drink—this one a little longer—but he isn't greedy, and decides that's all he wants. But the first drink was to taste—this one is to soothe. He wipes his mouth, handing the bottle back to O'gnya. He sits on the bed nearest to the window, leaning back on his palms as he watches either O'gnya, or the moon.]

I can't say I agree with poachers under any circumstance, truth be told, but I'm not about to criticize your spoils. As much as I wish it weren't the case, I'm hardly in a life so luxurious to deny crime with such yields, unfortunately...

[He tilts his head, knitting his eyebrows.] But I guess that's a little bad of me; wine is only a luxury.

[getpussy]

Thal's balls it is! Wine is hardly a luxury, it's like sleeping out of a bed!

[which they do all the time, but that doesn't change his opinion of it. He takes a drink of it after Sonas, then passes it back.]

Help me finish this. I don't want to piss the bed, but I don't want it to turn to vinegar overnight, it's too nice for that.

[ There's a meteor shower tonight. It isn't an unusual thing in itself, but after the Calamity, the sky held more palpable danger and innocent phenomena was reduced to superstitious bad luck. It makes distant sense, but while paranoid, Nhovi didn't think of the meteors streaming overhead as anything but pretty.

But looking back on it, Nhovi also doesn't see Dalamud's descent as anything but awe-inspiring. The implications were dire, but the fall itself wasn't the subject of many nightmares.

The two of them have just come tumbling out of an old ruins. Or rather Sonas did, Nhovi herself was pretty unruffled. Just as usual. She sits beside him on the grass, smiling, and laughs lightly. ]

You hanging in there? Need a hi-potion or two? It's quite safe now, so relax.

[juvie]

[Sonas takes the bottle, blinking with wide eyes to his companion. It's not actually unusual for O'gnya to be charitable with his excess, but that doesn't mean that this gesture doesn't take Sonas aback in a pleasant way.]

You'd know wine to be a mere luxury if your feet'd been in my shoes, some few years ago.

[Sonas smiles a little against the lip of the bottle as he drinks, recalling that he stole his fair share of wine—even without the means to enjoy things like wine, he supposes he always found a way.]

—Anyway, I'm sure that truthfully, you could have well and happily had the elixir to yourself without risk of soiling the sheets. [He laughs softly.] Many thanks to your generosity; state of the skies aside, I'll drink to that.

[Sonas's eyes are wide and wild, readjusting after his clumsy stumble. His breath is hard and fast between his parted teeth, skin damp with sweat, grass in his hair.

When she sits down, Sonas quickly rolls his head in her direction, his narrow chest heaving. He comes to the realization that the two of them had lost O'gnya in their escape. He helped them get through their mission easily enough, so Sonas isn't worried; he trusts he's just fine, merely stupid as usual. Lost, surely. He pauses, still scrambling for breath.]

Y—yes. I think—I'll be just fine, if we... stay still a moment.

[As usual, she's so composed. In delirious awe, Sonas wipes his brow, closing his eyes, the aching of his lungs beginning to subside.]

You were incredible!

[getpussy]

I'd think wine was luxury if I was some orphan child? I feel like I'd need the wine more...

[He looks pleased that Sonas' mood has been soft and pleasant lately. He's such a prickly pear, and he never knows when he'll say something to irritate the other man. It was true, though. He probably could handle the entire bottle alone, but that also seemed lonely to him.]

Is that a risk you want to take? You sleep less than an arms length from me most nights.

[he lifts himself from the ledge, plopping next to Sonas on the bed. He places the bottle in his hands, then looks back to the sky. His eyes are simply locked on the sight for now. The awe washes over him, making his heart flutter.]

Please. I know you've also drank far more than only this, and in comparison, downright unholy swills, too—and I don't recall you ever having wet the cot.

[Sonas's eyes follow O'gnya's to the moon, and he counts them lucky—again—for that the bedroom windows are somewhat luxurious. The room was the last available, and normally Sonas would consider it somewhat pricy (not that it was difficult for Sonas to find something unfairly expensive, with his specific upbringing), but with only one bed, it didn't turn out to be so bad. And though a little more than he'd like to pay normally, it was more decent a room than either of them had slept in for quite some time.

And there was good wine, too.]

You know—this reminds me. Sometimes, me and the older children would sneak out at night to watch the stars and moon from the roof of our shelter. We rarely had ale or wine for the viewing, but it was always soothing none-the-less.

[getpussy]

[O'gnya lets out a breath, as if he's considering how soothing this is. It's certainly very different from the action and bloodshed he dealt with earlier that day.]

I never went out at night. My mother told me I would get eaten by a buzzard since I'm so small. When I was old enough to fight buzzards, I wasn't that much bigger... so still, I stayed in.

Hard to imagine you being reigned in like that. With success, no less...

[Sonas laughs a little, taking the wine from O'gnya to have himself another sip before passing it back. He's definitely ribbing O'gnya, but his expression is soft.]

Your mother must be something.

[getpussy]

Well, certainly, but it wasn't as if I was such a great fighter anyway. She could have just tossed me back in if I didn't listen... [he sighs, thinking briefly of children his age who hadn't survived some of the hunting trials.]

I suppose I've always been fairly obedient, though. [he laughs at himself, reaching to take the wine back from Sonas. He accidentally brushes Sonas' hand in the process.] The man you know as me is unrecognizable to my clan, I think...

[Sonas ignores the way his heart leaps with the simple and incidental brush of their fingers, and instead recoils from the bottle quickly as if it had suddenly become molten hot to the touch. His expression is unwavering as before, blessedly.]

That makes sense, though.

[Sonas folds his hands in his lap.]

The whole reason you left your tribe was because you didn't like the sort of man you had to be to survive, isn't it? Turns out that obedient doesn't suit you. Big surprise.

[getpussy]

I just couldn't bear to break the rules, even though I knew it was going to happen eventually...

[Or even sadder, he would have never even had the chance to break any rules.]

...I don't know, it sounds great having my pick of the women, but what were even the chances I'd become Nunh? No way with my rotten luck.

Do you think it's fair to say you truly have bad luck, O'gnya?

[Sonas tilts his head.]

Perhaps it didn't suit you in your clan, but you've learned many trades yet since leaving. You get women. Even men! And sex was what you were after, wasn't it? And you've become strong. You're a different person than the one I met in Ul'dah, certainly, and I would say you owe it to heaven's fortune upon you.

[Furthering his point, Sonas taps at his darker eye, mirroring O'gnya's lucky blue one.]

And, so too, this wine.

[ He's probably distracted by something shiny; maybe something he can sell. Hopefully, since she's flat broke. Nhovi isn't worried, though she's listening carefully to run back in if need be.

She laughs, leaning back on her palms. ]

And you are out of shape! One would think a midlander should be stronger than a miqo'te runt, but I can't remember the last time I saw anyone heave like that.

[ She's just teasing, of course. He'll shape up with time. ]

[getpussy]

[O'gnya's face flushes as he considers Sonas' words. His words are very flattering, and he's not sure what the most appropriate response is.]

I didn't think you thought so highly of me, Sonas. You never tell me so... Maybe I am lucky. [his eyes close halfway as he looks at the bottle in his hand. He gives it back to Sonas, noticing that they have gone quite far through the bottle.]

Finish this, alright? I think I can feel the room moving.

[juvie]

[Sonas's supposes, bizarrely, it's fair for him to finish the bottle—he's bigger than O'gnya, even if he's younger.]

I—I wouldn't say I think highly of you... I'm just an honest person who gives credit where credit is fairly due. And from what I've seen of your maturity, I would say that you're lucky indeed.

[Glancing away with a roll of his eyes in something like shyness, Sonas smiles against the lip of the bottle's neck, taking a longer swig than before. The more you drink, the easier it is to drink even more!]

[juvie]

Runt??

[Sonas takes her jab peacefully, blinking at her in bewilderment.]

I assure you, this is more of my nerves than it is of my body...

[He sits up, his pose similarly mirroring Nhovi's before he sifts his fingers through his sweaty, straw colored hair.]

[getpussy]

[He beams at Sonas. He decided that it sounded like he was meekly backpedaling. He starts leaning to the side, his shoulder coming in contact with Sonas' arm.]

Really? Are you that honest? [he gives Sonas sort of a sultry look as he shifts his weight to his palms on the bed. Maybe he was misreading the feeling in the air, but he could swear that Sonas was into it right now...]

[O'gnya certainly is misreading things, which is a tremendous surprise to no one. However, Sonas, becoming swiftly and comfortably addled as he is, doesn't quite catch onto O'gnya's intentions right away—even given his general behavior...

Sonas leans wearily away, somewhat, but it doesn't lessen the distance between them enough for the contact to sever.]

Of course I am. Have you ever caught me in a lie?

[getpussy]

No, but that's what a really good liar would say, wouldn't he? [O'gnya is clearly pretty goofy with alcohol now as he lays his head upon Sonas' shoulder, and rests his eyes.]

I can't believe that this eclipse isn't stunning to you... Does anything get you truly excited, Sonas?

[juvie]

Who said I didn't find the eclipse stunning? [Sonas's jaw drops incredulously, and he shoves O'gnya's shoulder with his arm.]

I likened it to a miracle, you know! Or were you not listening?

[To emphasize his point, Sonas shakes the bottle at O'gnya a little so he can listen to the contents slosh around—and Sonas has himself another drink, rolling his eyes.]

[getpussy]

[He laughs, falling backwards onto the bed, placing his hands on his stomach.]

You're hard to listen to all the time. You talk like you have class even though it's clear that you have none... [He pulls at Sonas' collar and smiles.]
