ferris wheel of love

You've found yourself at an amusement park, and suddenly-- someone is guiding you towards a line. For whatever reason, you and someone else (possibly even a stranger you never met) are buddies for the ferris wheel. Whatever, it's just a short ride, right?

Except this Ferris wheel is magic. Towards the top you'll feel like getting close, and definitely like a power has overcome you. By all means, feel free to struggle, but once you get to the top it'll slow to a crawl. You two are going to kiss according to the powers that be, no ifs, ands, or buts.

This meme also doubles as an amusement park meme once you get off that awful ride! How about that? Now go have a magical night.

Bakaito. [ Her cheeks puff and the blue eyed girl actually huffs a bit at him when he steals some of the fluffy pink, sugary treat, prompting her to hold it a little further away. Distance is hardly a deterrent for Kaito - she learned that years ago - but she has to at least pretend to be put out by his thievery. ]

You're the one who took a wrong turn at the tea cups.

Not that it matters, we're -- eep! [ The ride gives a little lurch before it begins to climb slowly. Her shoulders slump a little as she scoots incrementally closer, hoping the simple motion goes unnoticed. ] -- we're here now.

[ And then a little softer: ] How high does it go again?

[With a wide, cat-like grin, he pops the cotton candy into his mouth and chews. Her huffing doesn't faze him; it's simply her usual reaction to him "borrowing" her snacks]

Oi, how d'you know I took the wrong turn? From my perspective, you were the one who went in the wrong direction.

[He leans back in their slightly-swaying seat and links his hands behind his head]

And it doesn't go that high. Just high enough to give you a good view of the whole park.

[Then again, for a guy who regularly climbed Tokyo's tallest towers, "not that high" was not a fair measurement]

But we were supposed to be coming here. [ There's no point in arguing with him, but she feels obligated to at least make an attempt - turning in her seat to face him and tucking a few errant strands behind her ear as she tries pointedly not to look down. ] I looked away and then you were just --

Gone.

[ He has a habit of doing that from time to time, though doesn't he?

As the gondola climbs slowly, she tugs a piece of the fluffy pink cotton candy from the cone, chewing thoughtfully before she speaks again. ]
I guess you're right. Otousan is up higher than this all the time, almost catching Kid ....

[. . . at that last comment, Kaito's brows furrow together, and he shoots Aoko a flat look. He reaches out to snag another piece of cotton candy from her, but this time, it's on principle. Serves her right for taking shots at Kaitou Kid >T]

And emphasis on "almost," right?

[ She reaches to smack her childhood friend's hand but he has always been a little quicker than her, always one tiny jump ahead (no matter how swiftly she swings her mop), and so her hand only connects with air. Instead, she scowls at Kaito, reaching to lightly pinch his arm instead.

It's hardly es elegant, but - ]

Almost, for now. But he's getting closer. [ Aoko waves the cotton candy tauntingly. ] Maybe I'll catch him.

[Her pinch earns her a light, playful nudge, and he pops that bit of candy into his mouth as well, wagging his eyebrows at her as he does so]

Ha ha. [He says once the treat melts in his mouth and he swallows]

If your dad can't catch him, then you definitely can't.

[ It takes more effort than she can manage to keep the smile from her lips, for as much as she wants to be irritated with the egotistical magician, there is something contagious about his grin. Even if he is a jerk. ]

Otousan has come really close, though.

[ She plucks a bit of the sugary candy from the cone, plopping it into her mouth with a hum. ] And if Aoko could distract him ....

What about you? D'you think you could catch him?
carptricks: (In a young girls heart)

[personal profile] carptricks 2014-06-18 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
What would you distract him with? A mop?

[He jokes with a snort. His next reply is, unsurprisingly, confident]

And of course I could catch him, if I really wanted to. He's not that great.

[Pretending that he thought himself much better than the moonlight magician had become second nature at this point]

[ Is the gondola slowing? As it crests the very top of its path, it seems to crawl forward before finally pausing all together, leaving the pair suspended high over the amusement park.

Aoko does her very best not to look, breath briefly hitching in her throat. ]

He wouldn't be suspecting it, would he?

How would you catch him?

[ But then her attention lapses, however briefly. Her blue eyes widen and she nearly drops the cotton candy in surprise at how high they are, and how grand the view is. Of course, that doesn't mean she's relinquishing any of the space between them that she has closed, pressed shoulder to shoulder. ]
carptricks: (It'll free your soul)

[If it's slowing down, Kaito hasn't noticed just yet. He's far too focused on picking on Aoko-- and stealing bites of her candy, too]

I'd set a trap for him of course.

[He says that proudly, taking advantage of their proximity to elbow her arm a bit. Just as he hasn't noticed the wheel slow down, he hasn't really. . . paid attention to how close she's sitting to him, either.]

A much better trap than anything your old man can come up with.
