[The taller teen merely smiles.] Must not have been taught that lesson yet.

Are you uncomfortable with being watched?

[Her smashing of the potatoes gets a little more vicious. Maybe she lied.]

[Akiyama slips his hand forward; almost-but-not-quite grazing her side as he reaches forward- and snatches up a piece of broccoli in hand.]

Sorry. But I've reached my "limit".

[He pops the veggie into his mouth.]

[-And then bristles, as his tongue is immediately scorched by the heat.]

....Hot. [Guess that's what happens when you bite into something fresh off the stove, huh?]

You moron, they're not even completely cooked yet.

[She slaps him upside the back of his head before making a small cut into the middle of the chicken to check if it still needs more time. It doesn't, so she turns the heat off, and sets that aside. With the potatoes mashed, and the chicken done all that's left is to finish up the broccoli.]

Aren't you going to watch t.v.? Or are you just going to hover around like a puppy at my heels?

[Akiyama takes the small slap to his head and moves back just enough to allow Kaname to move; though he still hovers in fairly close proximity.]

It's your fault.

You've been away this whole time. [He speaks as he chews through his half-cooked broccoli.] I'm bored.

Are you this clingy to everybody you know?

[It's about now that Kaname starts to 'ignore' him. Mostly she's just focusing on finishing up dinner, and if he's in the way she'll push him aside without warning.]

[Akiyama frowns. He doesn't allow himself to be ignored for very long before he speaks up again.] I told you, I've reached my limit.

[He goes to snatch up the large stirring spoon that sat upon the counter as he saw her going for it. The teen raises it up to keep it out of reach; demanding her attention.]

'The fuck is with you, anyway?

I should be asking you the same! I'm busy! Why do you insist on breathing down my neck while I'm trying to finish this up? You couldn't just sit down and wait for me?

[She jumps up to try and grab at the spoon, but she's too short.]

I've gotta do more "waiting", huh? [He keeps the spoon high above his head.]

Tell me, then- After you finish here, we ARE actually gonna just hang out together, right?

Well... Yeah, sure! We're not going to be studying during dinner or anything.

[Having friends is hard! She really only has one close friend, so... Really tutoring someone is an easy way to pretend this isn't something deeper.]

...Fine.

[He hands the spoon over to her.] And I don't wanna talk about classes or schoolwork- or any of that shit while I'm eating, either.

[Satisfied enough, Akiyama turns to return to his seat.]

Then what do you want to talk about?

[She swipes the spoon from him, and returns to the broccoli - which should only have a minute left.]

Doesn't matter.

[Settling in his seat.] But I guess you could start by talking about yourself, if you want.

[She rolls her eyes and starts setting the food on each plate.]

There's nothing interesting about me outside of school.

How lame.

And do you do anything interesting? To my knowledge the most exciting thing you do is sleep.

...Well- wanna hear about this really weird day I had?

[He begins anyway] One time, I got into a fight with some dumbasses who jumped me.

Later on- after I went home and word of it had spread around- I kinda expected at least a few people to show up at my doorstep. -Even if only to check and see if the rumor was true, or to tease me about it. ...But nope. A couple of texts, sure, but... The only person who came to see if I was alright was this really annoying class rep... And it was weird- cause she didn't even give me shit like usual, for cutting class or fighting. She just patched me up and went on her way.

Isn't that interesting?

Sounds like she takes her job as Class Rep too seriously.

[Kaname finishes filling up the plates, and heads over to where Akiyama is sitting. She offers him a plate along with a napkin and some silverware.]

You're probably right.

[He accepts his food with a small nod.] Either way, that was the first time I realized that I should probably be more thankful that the annoying rep stuck around.

It would definitely make her job much easier.

Do you have any plans for the future?
[She stabs her fork into the chicken, and cuts it with her knife.]

It's a little soon to be thinking about a future together, isn't it..?

[He teases, as he cuts into his chicken and takes a bite.]

[After a brief pause, in which he appears to be contemplating something, Akiyama simply continues.]

You don't know. I could be asking so I could avoid you.

[She knows that silent pause. She knows stalling. She knows because she does it. And to be fair? Kaname doesn't know what she wants to do. Her uncertainty about her future plagues her at night, which is why she asked Akiyama about his.]

[After a moment, he speaks again.] ...I don't think there's a point.

-In worrying about that stuff, I mean. [He takes another bite.] Whatever happens, happens.

If you keep thinking like that nothing will happen. Or worse something bad might.

[She cuts up her chicken into a few pieces before starting to eat it.]
