MORE THAN PARTNERS

You two are a complimentary duo, a team that many would envy. One leads, the other follows. One offers support or intel or back up to the other, or perhaps even medical help for the other, the beserker or powerhouse. Whatever your cause may be - working for an organization, working for yourselves, adventuring, demon hunting, fighting giants, protecting humanity from rogue alchemists, or just living life in a situation that calls for a "partnership" - you work like a well-oiled machine.

But it's more than partnership. You look out for each other, watch each others' backs. No one will hurt your partner on your watch.

But it's more than that, too. More than anyone can ever know. You two care for one another nearly more than anyone else in the world (or perhaps more "nearly" involved), and you're partners in a different way as well...or, at least, you're dangerously skirting that line.

Even if that's a dangerous game, there's one thing for certain: you can't and won't let any affections and emotions get in the way of making sure they stay safe.

[After SHIELD fell, another government agency was put in charge of observing the Avengers and other 'threats' like them. Although instead of just quietly moving into Agent 13's vacated apartment, Steve's new neighbor knocked on his door, politely introduced herself as Milla Vodello, and then explained in her usual cheerful manner that she was a Psychonaut and she had been assigned to the task of watching over him. She said she thought it'd be rude to run surveillance without telling him first.

She crashed into his life with a flurry of color. She behaved nothing like the tight-laced SHIELD agents--she wore bright dresses and laughed loudly and was unfailingly kind and friendly to everyone in the building. She said that the Psychonauts were a tiny but secret and powerful organization comprised mostly of psychics--people who could levitate, read minds, moved things with only thought--but she only demonstrated any power when they were alone in her apartment, because as she told him, his apartment was bugged by at least four different agencies.

Somehow, she eventually convinced him to work for the Psychonauts in a similar way as he had worked for SHIELD. She brought him in, introduced him to the director, showed him around, and she was assigned to be his handler. She treated it more as a partnership than anything.

They worked well together. She was fantastic at surveillance, and he was fantastic at fighting. She was quick and aggressive, he was strong and defensive. She was hot, he was cold, she was black, he was white, and it worked.]

You know, darling, we should get some dinner after this. All this work and no play makes for a very stressful work environment, I think.

[She pulls all her long hair into a bun in preparation to drop down through the roof of an office building. After two weeks of surveillance and undercover work, they had determined there was a HYDRA biochemical base inside, and they were assigned to capture (or kill) as many scientists as possible and obtain the information on the computers.]

I saw this lovely-looking Italian place up the street. Why not there?

[Karen's a cop, so it's pretty much canon. Other cops are an obvious go, and I'd also be okay with lawyers, CI's (informants), or anybody else she might have crossed paths with during work. Assumed CR is okay since there would be a pre-existing professional relationship.]

Meleagant is a malevolent and indestructible spiritual entity whose eventual goal is either the total corruption or destruction of mankind, returning from defeat only to attempt again in time.

'Canonically' he has a witch companion who is his closest friend and confidant, although certainly his subordinate, so playing with that role would be fun.

Witch companion, you say? Hilariously enough, Fatima's canon has her in a similar sort of role with Master Mattias, where she's close to codependent on Mattias and making sure his goals are met to the point where she doesn't even know what she'd do with herself if she didn't have his orders to follow (though theirs is more father/daughter than close friends). But I'm sure we can play with both those roles and brainstorm until something pops up.

When the vengeful entity rose up a thousand spears to rain though fire and tactics, fury instead of strategy wielded by the heroes that pursued it, the witch that had been for too long driving misery and death.

There is another clash of arms, but a phalanx formed between the pair and the witch like arrows against a steel wall formed from thin air, with the various symbols of everything he was engraved in each of them: Laconia, the UNSC, and the Spartans of both antiquity and the far future.

John dashed forward.

((OOC: Do you want something of a mentor/apprentice relationship, maybe a father/daughter one, between John and Mami, maybe as a mirror to her former relationship with Kyoko?

Tactically, John could be the one offering protection, melee power, and strategy; while Mami has range, strings to isolate and control her enemy, and sheer firepower. In the relationship side of things, John could offer her emotional stability while Mami could be his human side, as Cortana existed in his canon.

Forgot to say... this could be either an AU where even people that aren't young girls can make a contract, if they're influential enough to their worlds, or I could offer John in his canon self and just make him armed to the teeth. Which one would you like? I have no problem with writing something else.))
