Well, it’s 2012 2014, and we all know what that means: the world’s going to end this year! So in honor of impending doom, have a Post-Apocalyptic Meme

How it Works:

1. Alien Invasion- Aliens have taken over the earth.


2. Climate Change- The climate of our planet has shifted suddenly.


3. Cybernetic Rebolt- Technology has turned against us.


4. Impact Event- A meteor struck the Earth.


5. Nuclear Warfare- They dropped the big one. Enjoy that fallout.


6. Pandemic- A disease is threatening to wipe out human life on earth.


7. Resource Depletion- There are no longer enough resources to support life.


8. Zombie Apocalypse- An oldie but a classic, zombies are invading and destroying everything.


9. Other- Combine several scenarios or come up with your own!

[ The fallout leaves most humans dead, and most mutants still alive. Erik has always been strong, and has been a survivor so long. It's natural that he is here now, building a small community from the ruin. There is a small smattering of plain humans among his mutants. They must be something worthwhile, he thinks; infantry that can be useful in the days to come. In the wake of nuclear apocalypse, his ideals must shift to accommodate the resources he has - all that are left alive are a viable asset.

Still, Erik assembles a small team of mutants among the rabble team to go in search of provisions. Among them is a young man he has met before, who has more than proved his use in the past. The boy whose mother who has met a man that controls metal before. Erik has his suspicions. He is a general in most things, though Magneto could easily navigate the ruin that stands before them. ]

Go and scout ahead.

[ The radiation has caused some strange and ugly creatures, some of which may or may not be worth provoking. This one can slip among them without even the pretense of disguise, and can report back findings to the away troops he leads, like the King, behind all of them. ]

[An emergency landing wasn't part of the plan. An option, yes-- a necessary out in case anything that could go wrong did-- but it was the last one Aeryn made sure to take after Moya's silouhette disappeared entirely. After her fuel supply levels dropped to something dangerously low. The crash was rough (blame it on unfamiliar terrain littered with the hollowed out shells of old, long abandoned architecture) but she'd only come out of it with a few cuts and bruises.

And it's hot. Too frelling hot for Aeryn to stay out during the day in sunlight for an extended period of time. She swaps her schedule out: sleeps in an old, shuttered business when the sun's out and does her hunt for supplies at night. As far as she can figure (hunkered down behind a sleek looking countertop and nested underneath her emergency blanket) this entire world's been dead for a long, long time. Because so far she hasn't crossed paths with a single living soul.]

[Worlds colliding never ends well for either world, even when it's less physical collision and more 'giant rip in the fabric of time and space and both worlds trying to occupy the same place causing a mess of bits and pieces from both'. It was more terrifying than anything Anders could have imagined and made the concerns of his life before suddenly seem unfairly small compared to the world around him, riddled with things he didn't understand and chaos everywhere, as though the Fade had swept out into the physical world and had no intentions of leaving.

But the chaos eventually faded and left behind something which he was all too familiar with: the suffering of those trying to continue their lives when everything had broken down around them. It made it easier for him in a sense, giving him something to focus on and work at helping with the magic that fortunately was still with him, but it felt more like patching surface scratches than addressing the larger problem.

Though Maker alone knew how anyone could address something like this. For many people it seemed to be more along the lines of keeping their heads down and hoping for the best, but Anders heard rumours of some who were trying to find a way to fix this mess somehow, and he couldn't help but ask around further, until he had a very strange name of a surprisingly young man to speak with.]

[It's one of the things everyone who survived the first couple years learned quickly - stick with the people you trust, don't trust strangers, and keep quiet.

The building seems to be empty, for the moment, at least. An old shopping center, ripe for looting and scavenging for supplies. There could be food, clothes, medicine, tools, any number of useful things if they keep low, have a little patience - and maybe get lucky.

A sporting goods store might seem an unlikely place, but Joel knows better. Fishing hooks, ammo, tools, WD-40, winter gear - anything not nailed down might be the difference between surviving and not.

He hears a sound, a rattling from somewhere over in the mountain bike section, and he glances over to his brother, mouthing there's someone else here. A person, or infected, whatever. Quietly, he starts circling around to see.]

His time at the Keep really should have prepared him for anything, but - all of this is still pretty much the absolute last thing he was expecting.

He could have rolled with waking up somewhere that wasn't the Keep. Obviously, it'd be far from the first time it happened, and at this point, he was almost used to ending up somewhere with no idea how he'd gotten there. He could even have rolled with being back in his world - if only for the simple fact that he wouldn't have remembered the Keep, and wouldn't have known he was having to roll with anything.

But this - this was something else. This was some weird combination of all of the above and none of the above. This was remembering the way his world had gone to hell, remembering everything destroy and friends gone, and the ones he had left dying outside, while the Sentinel burned through his barricade faster than he could make it, the feel of his ice cracking and breaking and not knowing if he could put himself back together again-

And remembering the Keep, all of his friends and all the weird shit that'd happened. And, most importantly, the love of his life saying yes, the day they were married. Quite literally the happiest day of his life, except-

Except he didn't know. He felt older, he was older - the time he'd spent running from the Sentinels was obvious on him, slightly bulked up, skin darker and more weathered, and of course, the facial hair. But he was wearing the clothes he'd had on at the Keep, and his wedding ring gleamed from his left ring finger. And when he'd woken up, Raven was in his arms.

Not that he'd had time to sort any of that out. They'd barely been awake a few seconds before they were attacked. And then it was just about surviving, fighting off whatever the hell these weird creatures were - aliens? they seemed to be able to talk to each other, though hell if Bobby could understand them.

Whatever this place was, it didn't look much different from Bobby's world, after it'd gone to hell. He knew this, at least, and Raven - Raven was good. Quite possibly the most fantastic - and deadly - thing that Bobby'd ever seen, and apparently they'd both gotten better, with whatever'd happened to them.

It's not until the creatures are dead and they've found a place of safety - momentarily, at least - that Bobby starts talking.
