bad dreams are ordeals, sometimes seemingly endless. when you wake up, your heart pounds, your head hurts, and you end up drenched in sweat. even if you know none of it was real, it takes a while to orient yourself.

it is pretty nice to have someone there to wake you up or to soothe you out of it and remind you that...

it's only a dream.

Well yeah. Once you're stuck with us there's no getting out of it.

Quit that pouting or you really will have to sleep on the roof.

[In a moment of contorting his face, he concedes with a deadpan look.]

Ffffffffffine.

You guys are luck I even HALF like you.

[Atawhai rolls his eyes.]

Oh, we're real lucky, aren't we Rongo?

Oh yes. What great fortune has smiled down upon us.

[There's that smile again.]

I'm your little luck charm!

Oh yeah? What's that supposed to mean?

[Swiftly, a pillow hurtles toward Eta's grinning muzzle.]

If you're a good luck charm, then I must be a genie.

[d;lfsdfsdl Etera finds that pillow particularly hard. He recieves it, only to go and in a fit of desperation, shove Atawhai at his big bro.]

Don't you have a bottle to live in?

[Atawhai laughs and takes the shove without fighting, though to the sleepy Serval it's probably like trying to push a boulder.]

Hey wait, so what would that make me?

[While he might feel like a boulder to his tired twin, Ata feels more like a light breeze to Rongo. He hardly even moves as the caracal gets shoved further into him.]

You're the poor soul who got stuck with us, Atawhai.

[another light noogie]

[His grunt is the grunt of a frustrated sleepy cat. He gives up after the first try.]

That makes you the monkey.

[He opts for a pillow instead.]

What? No way! That's you, not me!

You're both monkeys, believe me.

I'm the lucky monkey.

[You say that as that's something to be proud of.]

What the heck's that supposed to mean?

It means I'm the luck charm in this family.

You're not going to give that up, are you?

[Atawhai yawns and drops his head into one paw. Have you guys forgotten what time it is?]

No...but jeeze, you guys ever heard of sleep?

[And he's back to that.]

[Rongo snorts softly at both his younger brothers.]

Forgive me. I'll see you both in the morning.

[Rongo lets Atawhai out of the headlock, and stands up.]

I hope your dreams are better this time, Atawhai.

[Atawhai smiles up a little at Rongo as he stands before moving to retrieve his pillow from Etera's side of the room.]

And you, please consider sleeping with your mouth shut for a change.

[He puffs out air from his mouth as he rolls over.]

Yeah, but it might just be the lullaby you need.

If your snoring is a lullaby, I shudder to think what you'd say my roar is.

[The tiger makes his way to the door of their room.]

Just go to sleep, both of you.
