A Day at the Beach Meme

So you need a vacation. The weather's nice, so why not hit the beach?



So here are the rules:

1. Comment with your character and put their name and canon in the subject line.
2. Do beach stuff with whoever threads with you. Go tanning. Collect seashells. Have a picnic. Swim. Surf. Visit the little resort. Get stranded at sea in a canoe. Day or night. Do your own thing.
3. There is no need for RNG here, just have fun. :)

[ Mai, being the smart girl she is, has been lounging on a towel under an umbrella for shade. Mako might have been under the shade at one point as well, but the sun doesn't stay in the same place. She doesn't notice Mako's skin until she actually looks away from her book and directly at him.

Huh.

It's easy enough to wake him up, she reckons. She pokes him where he is most red. ]

[grumpiness]

[When he wakes, it's with a yelp and the flailing of his limbs. He hisses out a breath through clenched teeth as he sits up, slapping a hand to the spot on his body that stung.

Then he yelps again.]

[downer]

[ Oh, Mako... Mai sighs and tosses him a bottle of lotion, and then she lifts herself on her knees to move the umbrella so that he's shaded. ]

Put some of that on you. It should help.

[grumpiness]

[The fact that he's out in the blistering sun and sunburnt is still registering in his mind. He frantically glances around as his hands roam over his chest, feeling the sting everywhere now.]

Wh-what? [He wipes at... some drool at the corner of his mouth and whips his attention back to her.] ...

[He just stares at the lotion.] How is that gonna help?!

[downer]

[ If she were in his position, she wouldn't be questioning the properties of any cream sent her way. So she isn't going to give him a very helpful answer. ]

Just put it on.

[grumpiness]

[... After a moment of hesitation, he reaches for the cream, uncapping it and squirting way too much onto his palm.]

Thanks. [He glops the cream onto his stomach first, spreading it carefully.]

[ Hopefully he doesn't mind smelling like fruit for a few hours, or at least until his next bath.

She watches him spread the lotion on his stomach. ]

It's on your back, too. Turns out you roll in your sleep.

[grumpiness]

[He groans... slapping a lotion coated hand to his face. He then hisses, because that effing hurts.]

I know. I can feel it, trust me.

[downer]

[ She stretches out on her back, bending one knee and resting her other leg on it. Meanwhile, she watches Mako with a somewhat amused expression. ]

Don't get it in your eyes.

[grumpiness]

I'll try not to... what is this, anyway? It smells like... girls or something. [He grumbles incoherently as he works on slathering himself up. He'll attempt to reach for his back later.]

[downer]

It helps cool down burns. And you have to rub it in, not just on your skin.

[ She rolls on her side so that she can get a better look and not be helpful. ]

[grumpiness]

I'm getting to that. [He tries to twist to frown at her, but it's too painful. He just hisses, AGAIN.

He raises his arm as he tries to reach at his back, stiffly swiping at his shoulder blade.]

[downer]

[ Now this is getting interesting. Mai is STILL EYEING HIM because she is sick and she snags a piece of candy from a bag they had brought with them. ]

You missed a spot.

[ A biiiiig spot. Like your whole back. ]

[grumpiness]

I know... [His hand just swipes at his shoulder blade faster.] You can stop staring!

[downer]

[ Mai rolls her eyes and sits up on her knees, situating herself behind Mako. She squirts lotion into her hands, but it takes a couple shakes of the bottle. ]

How much did you use, Mako?

[grumpiness]

I don't know! Whatever's on me? [He scoots away from her at first, taken aback by her apparent offer to help... then settles back down.]

[downer]

Ugh, don't be a brat. You're gonna make me hit you.

[ It's only a threat, but she still has to hold herself back with the first touch of her palm against his skin. She's been using that word a lot lately, "brat." Tom-Tom is turning into one.

She rubs his back in large circles, pausing now and then to replenish her supply. ]

[grumpiness]

[He's noticed. Especially when she calls him one (which he is).

He just folds his arms once he settles, flinching every now and then when she touches a particularly sensitive spot.]

[downer]

[ The quiet is much nicer. She generously applies the girly lotion onto his skin, and it's relaxing in a way. He's got a pretty broad back, so it takes her a little while to work her way down. She stops when she's halfway down his back. ]

...Oh.

[grumpiness]

... Is that a good oh or a bad oh? [He cranes his neck as he attempts to look over his shoulder at her.]

[downer]

[ Mai is just silent for a moment before she resumes slathering him up, and then she stops at a certain point, suspiciously close to his butt actually. She tosses the lotion in his lap and crawls up next to him. ]

Next time you decide to fall asleep in the sun, you might want to make sure your pants are covering your ass.

[ It's only a couple of inches at the top, but Mai isn't going there. ]

[grumpiness]

[... INNER LAKJDKLAJDKLAJDKLAJDKLAD as he pulls away from her touch to adjust his shorts!! EMBARRASSED. He can't even say anything.]

[downer]

[ She notices his frantic adjustment. Wow it sucks to be him. ]

Careful. The fabric will chafe.

[grumpiness]

Could you please not look there in the first place?! [PERVERT. He flashes her a glare from over his shoulder as he settles back down, OBVIOUSLY VERY SORE.]

[downer]

[ Mai furrows her eyebrows and looks away from him. ]

Hmph. I can't help it. It's like a trainwreck.
