Recorded - you're not really interested in this forbidden love affair, but you must do it or you'll face some tough consequences. 5. Being the butler to the prince had its perks. There was always food, always shelter, and while the work was tedious and sometimes ridiculous, it wasn't difficult. In fact, it mostly involved a lot of dressing and undressing the prince.... and while Jim certainly "worked over-time" with that lately, it was never easy to watch his prince performing his duties with his wife.

Like now, when Prince Leonard was dressed to the nines - in the suit and finery Jim had so lovingly laid out that morning - to meet with visiting dignitaries and Jim was left to watch from the shadows.

Leonard, sole heir the kingdom of Georgia, has always enjoyed a pampered life. His family were one of the oldest, the richest, and the most powerful. Leonard have always been offered nothing but the absolute best, and when time came to find him a wife, the Queen picked her according to the same impossible standards. She was a princess in her own right, heir to her own crown, and their union would strengthen the power of both families. But she was not just some dumb trophy. She was smarter than most, humble and level-headed where most princesses were annoyingly spoiled and hysterical, and she was stunningly beautiful. Black, silky hair, flawless skin, and deep, brown eyes.

At first he liked her. On the surface, she was the most logical choice, but no matter how hard he tried, they just didn't click. Regardless, Leonard was a good son and a good man, and he had every intention of honouring his vows. Until his butler passed away and was replaced by his son.

He liked James. He liked watching him work, liked listening to him talk about nothing in particular for hours simply because the prince was bored and demanded company. Before James, he had never asked much of his personal butler. He preferred his independence, but since this blond had come into his life, suddenly the prince found himself incapable of doing anything on his own. He wanted to be read to instead of reading himself. He wanted to be dressed by James' hands, and undressed by him, too. He even demanded that the butler come bathe him, and a hundred other small tasks that he could, and always had, easily done himself. All designed to keep James close day and night.

Except for the times when duty called.

Like now when he was leaving the castle with his wife on his arm, headed for a day of politics and diplomacy, and everything that was more her than him. As he stepped into the carriage, he found himself looking back towards the castle doors, looking for James without fully realizing it.
