Remember — Both of you are bound and determined to find out who you were as a living mortal. The knowledge might tear you apart. Different Time, Different Place — This ghost is of a person who's a bit...antiquated compared to you. Careful, they may want to court you. It certainly makes things awkward when they see how you dress. Jealousy — Lights burst, glass cracks, and the whole place goes cold when someone with a pulse smiles at you. Protection — You'll risk your afterlife for the one you love. Confession — If you can communicate vocally, confessions are easy. If you can't talk, that's a whole other kettle of fish. The Challenge of Intimacy — Ghost makes it look so easy. You want to reach out and touch them, but you can't always do that. Manifestation — Your emotions have temporarily given you a physical form. Keeping You Here — The living's affection keeps the dead in the mortal coil. Decay — The longer they stay with you, the more of a violent wraith, disconnected from their past, they become. Passing — You have to let them go, even if they don't want to. Just Like Heaven — You'll work together to find a way to bring you back to life. ANYTHING ELSE?

[ Everything had grown completely silent after her scream. After her wail for her best friends' death. She had been hearing the whispers and mostly unidentified noises ever since Stiles first got possessed. But after Allison's death, it was all gone. It was as if even the whispers of the other dead were mourning her. As if the warnings might as well stop, because it didn't mater anymore. It was too late. She was too late. And Allison was gone.

Even now, as Lydia stood in her room, staring at herself in the mirror, adjusting her black dress, there was nothing. She missed the voices, missed the warnings. Because they meant there was still something that could be done. They meant there was still a way to save Allison.

But as she reached up for her hair to start working on a braid, she knew there was nothing left to do. That was why she was left alone, because she had failed one of the most important people in her life.

Or she thought she had been left alone, but there was Allison again. Standing behind her, at least in the reflection on the mirror. Every time Lydia saw her, she started to cry. This time, however, she just stared. No matter how tight her chest got or how painful it was to see Allison again, as if she had never left, she had to be strong today. She had to get through the funeral, to be there for Scott and Mr. Argent. She had to find the strength to tell Stiles time and again that this wasn't his fault.

So she had to look away from her best friends ghost and keep focusing on getting ready. She knew Allison wouldn't really be there if she turned around, wouldn't respond if she talked to her. She never had before.

And soon enough, she would disappear like she had every other time. ]

Shisui had always believed in ghosts, but when he died, he never thought he would be one of them. Not when he'd stumbled into that river, only aware of the pain and the odd acceptance that his death would mean something, Itachi would go on.

But obviously, something (a god? His own conscience?) wasn't happy with his decision. Shisui stared out pensively over the city of Konoha, knuckles braced on the sill. For some reason, they still popped and cracked as if he were alive. Then he turned to look at the apartment.

It was shitty, but... no. It didn't really have a good location, either. It was just high up enough that Shisui liked it. The hokage tower unsettled him; he would forget he was dead and try to speak to the passing shinobi. Most ignored him. Shisui thought he'd seen Anko staring in his direction once or twice, but she didn't seem to react.

And so Shisui went on.

Very deliberately, he walked over to the bedroom and kicked vaguely at the leg (his foot stopped without pain, and the bed seemed to twitch slightly). There was a ball in the bed, and Shisui couldn't even tell if its owner was sleeping there or not. It varied.

( it had been a month since homura had begun to receive the daily visits of visitor she would have never expected at her home. the man surely did surprise her when they first encountered, but not because he was a ghost, simply that he had broke the routine in her life, and for once she was forced to remain in this timeline for reasons other than the girl she was living for.

today was another daily visit at her home. the place was odd to begin with, everything was white, save for the big square frames hanging, holding images of different things. from homura being beaten to death, to the world being destroyed. while she hadn't explained much to steve, she knew he could see everything she did if he wanted, like the use of her powers, or her constant stalking of a certain pink haired girl.

as she sat in her chair, the girl took a sip of tea, and then rose her head up towards the ghost. )

I realize this is a shipping meme but I'm also on for non-romantic if your character is from an entirely different genre or something that makes it weird for such involvement to take place, you feel me?

[How would you feel about something along the lines of "helping a benign but restless ghost ultimately be put to rest"? Meridiana is actually dead, but because of some occult rituals that were performed on and around her corpse, her spirit is stuck and can't see the way to move on to the afterlife. So maybe she ends up wandering somewhere in the mortal realm and that's how Ichabod runs into her? That'd give him a little bit of sleuthing to do while hanging out with her, at least.
