The Rescue Mission Meme

 

Someone's in trouble and it's somebody's job to save them.

How to go about launching your own rescue mission:

-Post which roles and scenarios that you'd like to play with

-AU your character to fit scenarios if you'd like

-When posting to someone else, either randomly choose options or pick which ones you like

-There's lots of suggestions, feel free to make up your own

Roles:

1. Rescuer - It's up to you to save the Rescuee, how that's done is up to you

2. Part of a Rescue Group - You're part of a larger group of people all searching for the same Rescuee(s) that you are, maybe you split off from the group and stumbled upon the Rescuee, maybe the rest of your group failed in finding them

3. Rescuee - You've gotten yourself into some kind of mess and the Rescuer is on the way to give you a hand

4. Part of a Rescuee Group - Your group has ended up in trouble, maybe you're looking for a way to fix things, maybe you've just wandered off from the rest for some time to yourself, or maybe you're the only survivor

Scenarios/Troubles:

1. Fantastic Rescue - Things completely out of the ordinary, such as dealings with monsters, paranormal matters, fantasy-related dangers, rescues involving superheroes, rescues dealing with dinosaurs, rescues in outer space, rescues involving a shrink ray accident, and rescues involving ancient traps

2. Everyday Rescues - Things a little closer to reality, such as ones involving public heroes like members of the military, cops, firefighters, and hospital workers

3. Mundane Rescues - Things that aren't terribly important, but they are appreciated, such as rescuing someone from an awkward conversation or situation

4. Unusual Rescue Methods - Maybe the rescuer accidentally stumbled in and saved the rescuee, maybe the rescuer just can't get anything right and makes matters worse, maybe the rescuer doesn't even want to do this in the first place, or maybe the rescuee has rescued theirself and the rescuer isn't needed at all

5. Double Up - Things involving two rescuers or two rescuees, maybe the rescuers are planning the rescue or are on their way, maybe the rescuees are supporting each other or working on a way to get out of the situation they found themselves in

6. Other - Anything else you can think of that isn't listed here, go wild with ideas!

[All right, Benny couldn't exactly get away with calling this a routine exploration mission. It had been, up until he decided to explore just a bit farther out than his mission parameters called for, and entered a part of space he'd never seen before. Unfortunately, it turned out that his tiny LEGO spaceship wasn't so great at detecting non-LEGO collision threats, and a bizarrely brickless asteroid had smashed it right into its respective pieces.

He clung desperately to the remaining nose and antennae of his ship, reaching out to try to grab the other pieces as they drifted past. It was fruitless - they were just out of reach and moving farther, and he didn't dare let go lest he be lost as well. He didn't even know if he could rebuild the ship properly without instructions, but maybe he could at least get something functioning...

Of course, he was also trying not to think about that new crack in his helmet, and the quiet hissing sound coming from it. If he did, he knew he was going to panic. Forcing himself to breathe slowly and shallowly, he flipped around to investigate the pieces he did have.

...The control panel was still intact, and still powered! Flicking some switches, he quickly sent out distress signals in all directions, praying to the Man Upstairs that someone would receive it in time...]

[Fortunately for Benny, the distress signals had been picked up by a passing merchant ship. However, it was built and operated by beings even larger than the average Man Upstairs and they were running behind schedule. They spent a while searching for the source of the signal, but between their eagerness to get going and the tininess of Benny and what remained of his ship, they could do nothing more but relay the signal as they kept on going to their destination in order to ensure that their goods wouldn't spoil before arrival.

The nearest planet sent out smaller ships to have a look, but had no luck. They weren't long-range vehicles, they were 1-man scouting ships. They also sent on the signals as best they could.

Eventually the distress signals reached the best of the best, the Space Marines. They sent out a crew in a larger drop ship full of personal crafts. Once they got in range of the signal, the ships were deployed and each Marine searched in their assigned corner of space.

They had a grid set up digitally, it was more difficult to check everywhere in the vast regions of space, but as they scoured a section, it would change colors on everyone's display, so they'd know not to keep on hunting in that area. Because of the nature of space, it was possible that the mysterious craft could float into an already-searched area, but they'd cross that bridge when they got to it.

A few science officers remained on board the larger ship, directing Space Marines to unusual blips and making sure the operation ran smoothly. Their technology is more advanced than some, they buy the best from all races around the universe and one of their more recent missions took place on a planet devoted to scientific research.

As such, they're able to pinpoint the distress signal a little better, however, because of the size of Benny's craft, it's still not an easy task.

It's almost luck when Ralph's own ship detects what remains of Benny's. He's not even sure that it has picked up something important, but he radios it in anyway, then attempts to send a transmission at whatever his onboard computer has found.]

She'd heard of the dimensional jump belts before, but never experienced one, till now. It actually took her a few minutes, when she'd arrived, to realize she actually wasn't in Mega City One. The sky was too clear, for one thing, the buildings too low and clean, and the voices in her mind were a different timbre.

And she was obviously new here, with her Judge's uniform, black body armor a bit out of place in the...well, it seemed like a shopping district of some sort, only without a massy tower block stretching up into darkness. This time of night, the only people around were looking to party: she knew the signs too well, even if she didn't know what chemicals they were looking to party with.

Unfortunately, apparently someone clad in black leather, looking around confusedly, invited the wrong kind of attention, the kind that involved a hand slapping her on the ass, Which she could handle, and did, turning fast on her heel, elbow swinging in an arc to the attacker's face while her other hand pulled out her Lawgiver. "Down, creep! That's two in the iso-cubes."

Dredd would be proud. The locals, not so much, roused by the noise, the crack of her elbow in the guy's face, some moving to support their fellow drunk, the bartender of the bar this took place outside of punching 911, just as the biker gang arrived, drawn to trouble, and lighting up at the sight of her gun.

The guy who handles pretty much everything information related for your operation being in a position where his brain can be picked is never a good situation for anyone, so naturally it has to be resolved as quickly as possible.

With Jakuzure and Gamagori making enough of a ruckus outside to keep most of the REVOCS staff busy, Sanageyama's given enough breathing room to bust in and make his way through the building, busting down doors one room at a time in search of his fellow Deva. Any resistance is met with a MEN DOU KOTE right to the everything.]

[Now, Loki doesn't make it a habit of saving people, on the contrary. Most of the time, it is from him that people need to be saved. However, he has been known to keep his brother's woman moderately safe from time to time--well, once or twice, and mostly only when he was allied with said brother to stop the menace that took the life of their mother. But those are minor details. Jane has found herself in a bit of a jam thanks to some evil-doer who had the bright idea to attempt an assassination of Thor's woman as revenge for something or another. And normally, Loki wouldn't bat an eye. Normally. However, it was this woman's continued existence that kept Thor out of his hair. For her to perish now would be terribly inconvenient.

In a flurry of cape and illusionary magic, the son of Laufey stepped in, whisking up the damsel to carry her off to safety. Or, as it would appear to said damsel and any onlookers, the son of Odin swooped in in a flurry of cape and hammer to carry away the damsel. That's how the plan was to go, anyway, and none would be the wiser, because how could a dead man save Thor's woman? He couldn't if he wished to remain 'dead' in the eyes of those who matter. As with everything Loki does to benefit Loki, it tends to blow up in his face.

The swooping and rescuing goes along smoothly until a surprise counter attack knocks the son of Laufey on his hindquarters, shattering his well placed illusion in a flash of green light. Where once stood 'Thor' defending Jane was Loki doing the very same. How embarrassing.]

Damn. [He muttered irritably and finished off their assailant before reluctantly facing Jane with that 'caught with his hand in the cookie jar' expression.]

[ She's crouched low in the plants, slowing her breathing as much as she can so that they don't hear her. Her bow is in hand and an arrow notched and nearly drawn. Not yet, though. She's waiting. They might just pass by. Maybe she got out of there before any of them saw her. She wasn't exactly afraid of a fight, but she wasn't foolish either. Five against one weren't great odds and if she lost her arrows faster than she could retrieve she could easily by overwhelmed.

She isn't going to let that happen, though.

As they pass she lets out a slow, quiet breath to try to keep herself calm. One pair. Two pair. Three pair. Four pair....

Where was five?

She hears the crunching of twigs behind her and stands abruptly, turning as she draws her arrow and is about to let loose until she realizes it's not a cultist. ]

What? [ She asks. There were only four pairs. Where's five?
