Prompts
- Watching: You've been watching this person as long as both they and you have been in this world. Maybe over years, maybe suddenly, things aren't the same when you look at them.
- Guilt: You realized that these pesky emotions are growing and you know this is against everything you know to be true. Your kind cannot love, and even if you could, this is wrong. You have known this person their entire life and thinking of them as more is unacceptable.
- Terrible Angel: You're not angelic at all and fail neatly at almost all the benchmarks, but when it comes to the one you guard, you don't folly.
- Righteous Fury: Usually, angels must be removed and impassive. You see your charge mistreated, though, and you lose control.
- Relegated to Guardian Angelhood: You used to be much more important, of a greater choir of angel. Then, you screwed up and got pushed down into the ranks of guardian angel. It would be easy to be bitter towards your charge. You aren't, for some reason.
- Can't Be Seen: The person you care for the most can't see you. It's typical angel protocol, yet you can't help but want to make yourself noticeable.
- Affecting Your Work: Your growing and sometimes erratic emotions make your job harder. You're getting sloppy. You may even allow your charge to be hurt or allow yourself to be conspicuous.
- Jealousy: You saw your charge with someone else and it...it really ruffled your feathers. Maybe you lost your cool. Hopefully, that won't mean bad mojo for the other person involved. No one would be any wiser if you made their head more attractive to bird droppings, though.
- Kiss: Can you kiss someone when you technically have no lips? They might just feel a pleasant breeze; still, you're kissing them, and this is...nice.
- How They'd Like You to Look: You've decided to make yourself known to them, and you want your appearance to be to their liking.
- Inhabiting the Vessel They Love: A bit more sinister than the above, but also somewhat practical. They already love this body, anyway.
- Revealing Yourself: You're taking the big step and coming into their life as an actual, tangible presence. Of course, "I'm your guardian angel" rarely gets the response you hope.
- Stay with You: You promise that you'll stay by their side always, now as a physical companion.
- Confessions: No matter the costs, you're revealing your true feelings.
- Deciding to be More: It's dangerous, it's unheard of; however, both of you want to become more than just angel and charge.
- Intimacy Without a Corporeal Form: They know you're there even when you're not in human form, and they want to touch you. This can be a smut option, but it doesn't have to be.
- Intimacy With a Corporeal Form: You're beginning to learn what it's like to be intimate with them while you're in this new form. Again, this can be a smut option, but it doesn't have to be.
- Wings: Letting someone touch your wings is the ultimate show of trust and, in angel terms, one of the closest things you have to sexuality.
- Called to the Mat: Your higher-ups have learned of your sins. Now, you're on trial. Will you deny your charge?
- Not Officially Yours: Problem number one: you're in love. Problem number two: it's with some other angel's charge.
- Second Chance: As previously stated, most guardian angels are created for that one special person. However, some angels whose charges have died young are allowed a second chance. Will this new person ever replace your old?
- Protection: Now is time to do the guarding - by any means necessary, especially now, after realizing just what your charge means to you.
- Fallen: Because of your sins, you've lost favor. You've been stripped of your heavenly grace and you've fallen.
- Immortal: You must deal with the implications that your charge will die and you will be sent on to a new heavenly job.
- Failed: You didn't do enough. You let yourself slip, and now your charge is dying. They were more than just a charge, so you must do what you can to let their soul pass on in the most peaceful manner possible. But can you let go?

[Miniel's been watching Sam, though he's not hers to watch over. It's hard not to, with the trouble he gets into. The eyes that have been on him over the years, the things he's had to endure.
Especially in love. Her heart aches for him, for the fact that nearly every woman he's loved has died a terrible death. It seems he's cursed. Which is maybe why she can't resist.
In her mortal guise, she comes up to him, clearing her throat.]
Hey. You look familiar. Have we met?

so... 3, sorta 6, mostly 11, 13, maybe 18? idek.
Neither of them saw the oncoming vehicle until it was too late. But he did, had already leaned forward to wrap his wings around Stiles to protect him from what was about to happen. The sudden flash of headlights was their only warning. The truck crashed into them dead on from their right and sent the jeep on a violent roll off the side of the road.
People would saw it's a miracle Stiles walked away without a scratch. Wouldn't be the first time.
The other boy wasn't so lucky. He landed in the grass a few feet away from the jeep, motionless and already choking on blood. He didn't have a guardian and whatever future he'd had before the truck crashed into them, had dimmed to nothing. And it was while watching Stiles crouch over the boy, stricken and helpless, that he realized how much the boy really meant to him.
So he did what he had to. He could never stand to see Stiles in pain. And maybe it was a weakness in him but it didn't make it any less true, there was no one to stop him from pressing his 'hand' to the dying boy's forehead and taking him as a vessel. The light that enveloped them both was a bright, burning white, rendering him to what felt like absolutely nothing. A testament to the shit he does for his charge.
He woke up hours later, surprised, on a hospital bed to the strange sensation of breathing.
I think you mean 100% horrible
The moment he'd felt Jackson stop breathing he lost it, unable to hold the tears back. People had seen the crash. They had called the police and ambulances and tried to lead Stiles away from Jackson. Tried to tell him there was nothing he could do. Things went blurry after that and only returned to normal when his father appeared, holding him tightly and repeating over and over that he was going to be fine. That the paramedics said he was breathing again.
Stiles couldn't understand until later that his knuckles hurt because he'd fractured them punching someone who tried to make him step away.
At the hospital Stiles had stayed put approximately long enough to have his knuckles set and then he had camped himself in a chair in the corner of Jackson's room. He wasn't sure when it happened but he'd dozed off in the chair, waiting for Jackson to wake up and prove that things were still okay.

It was the moment he saw Stiles, tucked into a chair in the corner of the room, somehow asleep despite the awkward, uncomfortable angle. It was... weird, to see him. He was always aware of Stiles, could pick him out in a crowd of thousands or millions if he had to, but it had always been thanks to the light he emitted. (His soul, brighter than the sun sometimes but dimmer now, like someone blotted it out until only the faintest glow was visible.)
He hurt but not by much. The body had healed, leaving it whole again. But it was empty, bereft of the human soul it once housed. Shit, that wasn't what he meant to happen. He'd meant to save the boy, not - Shit. There was nothing he could do about it now, except abandon the body. And maybe a good angel would have done it without a second thought, but he couldn't look away from Stiles.
He finally pushed himself out of the bed and winced at the feeling of the cold floor meeting his bare feet. Walking was awkward, something he wasn't used to and wasn't sure he could like. But for Stiles, he tried. He came to a stop in front of the sleeping boy, staring at him as if seeing him for the first time, and slowly crouched down. Tentatively, he traced his charge's brow.
It felt unreal but the pulse of his soul was comforting.

The gentle touch to his face drew him out of the restless sleep he'd fallen into waiting for some sign that Jackson would wake up. Eyes opening, he nearly fell out of the chair when he saw Jackson awake.
"J... Jackson- you're, you should be in bed that truck-!" He could barely get that sentence out before dragging him in for a tight hug. "How are you even standing? I saw you coughing up blood..."
no subject
He hugged back more slowly, hesitantly, and dug his nose into the boy's shoulder. He'd seen Stiles do this enough to know how it was done but he still didn't know what he was supposed to do. "I'm fine," he said finally, muffled. "I... I only just woke up, I didn't know what was happening."
It was a half-truth, not quite a lie.

12, and starting from the guarded's side, if that's alright.
But, as she nibbled on A Christmas Carol, and smiled at the delicious words, she had no idea she was being watched.
"This meatloaf is so delicious!~ The celery is sharp and the egg's like a warm blanket holding everything together..and even the olives and carrots are getting along!~ It's just like Scrooge.."
Anyone listening in would probably find this whole scene quite bizarre.
no subject
That's not her job, after all.
This day, and these words, and she can't help the tiny giggle that escaped her lips as she absentmindedly sat and listened as Tohko spoke to herself.
... Oops.
no subject
"Who's there? You can come in if you want! I'm always happy to talk."
Just to make sure, she walked over to the door and opened it, but there was no one there. Still puzzled, Tohko closed the door and tried to remain calm. Hopefully it wasn't a ghost. Or, if it was, hopefully it was one like the Ghost of Christmas Past or Present.
"Are..are you a ghost?"
no subject
Quiet, quiet, she's got to stay quiet. She's not supposed to be seen, or heard, or anything!
She's decidedly not a ghost, but she's not exactly the best at her job ... no guardian angel worth their salt would get caught laughing like this.
no subject
So, once again, she'd speak up, becoming more puzzled and worried by the moment. If this was a harmful ghost, the book club would need to be protected in a salt circle!
"I know I heard you, so please don't hide! I won't make fun of you or anything, and if you won't hurt me, I won't try and chase you out! Are you a ghost of Christmas Past? Or..someone I knew?" Her thoughts instantly went to her dead parents, but..there was no way they would end up like Marley, with chains wrapped around them. No way. In Tohko's mind, that was impossible.
no subject
And now she's caught between staying silent and allowing Tohko to believe that she's made it all up, or appearing out of thin air and probably scaring the girl, which is the last thing in the world she wants to do ... or is supposed to do.
"I'm not going to hurt you," she starts, stepping from the shadows, even as she straightens her skirt. "I'm supposed to watch over you."
no subject
"How come? And who are you? What are you? Are you a ghost or a guardian angel of some sort?"
As she spoke, Tohko looked down at the book she had been eating, trying to get a grip..and realizing just what the woman had seen and laughed at.
"Oh! And you can't tell anyone about what you saw! Please don't! I'm not a goblin or anything, so I would appreciate it if you didn't! And why were you laughing at my eating anyway?!"
no subject
"Ding, ding, right on the money and on your first guess, too. That's impressive."
It wasn't that Penelope was laughing at Tohko, but her little comments about the meatloaf and how good it was had tickled her pink. She should have stayed quiet, but she couldn't help the little laugh that had escaped her lips.
"Who would I tell? I don't judge what you do - my job is to keep you safe." She sighs, shaking her head. "Believe me, I wasn't laughing at you. The way you were describing the words, it really just amused me."
no subject
"Well, I am the book girl, you know! Things like this happen all the time in stories."
The fact that Tohko had a few experiences before where people teased her or looked at her weird because of her book eating didn't really make her feel comfortable when other people learned about it, but, at Penelope's explanation, the book girl's smile just grew a little wider.
"Your fellow angels, I suppose..but I'm glad to hear that you weren't judging or laughing at me. But..why did my description amuse you? And what's your name? Do you have one?"
Tohko, for better or worse, was a curious little thing.
no subject
"That they do - although too many people don't believe that what's in stories can be real. But here I am!"
Everybody had their differences, but Penelope understands that some people refuse to understand, and refuse to give someone that's different a chance. So, she's glad to be out in the open, and she's glad to be accepted for what she is, and who knows, maybe even considered a friend.
"Oh, they're busy with their own charges. I doubt they'd even pay me any attention." She pauses, cocking her head to the side. "I think it was just the enjoyment that you were getting out of it, honestly. I certainly miss eating ... "
Another quick pause, and a nod. "It's Penelope."
no subject
As she boasted, Tohko puffed out her chest with pride, her grin widening. It might have actually been a little impressive if her chest wasn't so flat.
While Tohko also knew that it was hard for people to accept those who were different, she wished people would change, read a little bit more and not make fun of others just because of any abnormal behavior they might possess. Thankfully, because of this, she was usually quite happy to accept almost anyone as a friend, as long as they weren't rude or jerks. Penelope did not fit this category.
However, as her Guardian Angel spoke, the book girl felt around in her pockets to see if she still had some money left over from this morning. Thankfully, she had a few bills and coins. "It's nice to meet you then, Penelope! I'm Tohko Amano. As you can see, I'm the book girl..and if you want-and can-I could run out and buy you something to eat. I won't tell anyone!"
After all, she knew just how terrible it was to sit around as others ate and enjoyed food that you either couldn't eat or enjoy properly.
no subject
Tohko is cute - she's always been cute, Penelope is all-too aware. And although she giggles again, it's hardly meant to offend.
Penelope feels much the same, but that was the world - always suspicious of something new, always wary, never trusting. But there were times in which one could find a ray of light among the darkness. And although she wasn't technically supposed to befriend Tohko, well ... she was gonna do it anyway.
She shakes her head, her smile full of fondness and amusement both. "I know. I've been watching over you for quite a while now. And while the offer is sweet, I can't really eat anything, so it would all just go to waste. Save your money, I'll be fine."
no subject
While Tohko had no idea that it was forbidden for a guardian angel to befriend the one they guarded, she was going to try and befriend Penelope and argue against the rules if she ever found out about them and if any other angels ever showed up to enforce them. As for the world, Tohko felt that it wasn't wholly covered in darkness or bad people. There were a lot of good things and people out there..even if some were jerks sometimes.
But, at that response, Tohko's smile faded a little as she tightened her grip on A Christmas Carol. "Oh..alright then. I'm sorry to hear that. It's terrible not being able to really eat anything..but what is it like being an angel? What does Heaven look like? Are the people there happy? Or..can you not tell me?"
Hopefully her parents had both made it through the narrow gate and were happy together..and if Penelope was willing to tell her about Heaven, maybe she could find out about her parents and who had used the poison.
no subject
She shouldn't continue speaking like this - she shouldn't have exposed herself to begin with, but now that she has, she doesn't particularly want to just ... disappear, leaving Tohko to wonder if she'd just made it all up. But it's nice to know that the younger girl understands the world as well as she does - for others, it takes much longer to figure it all out.
No, Penelope isn't going to get in trouble for this more than she's going to get sternly lectured, but then, it's not the first time that's happened. And then, they're back to food thing, and she chuckles softly, shrugging her shoulders. "I really miss cheeseburgers, actually."
And then ... the question about Heaven, and her smile fades, at least a little. She wishes that she had all the answers, but really, she only knows about her own experience.
"It's ... different for everybody. My idea of Heaven is not the same as what yours might be. Mine is ... a big city, full of people, and excitement. For some, it's a quiet evening in at home with their loved ones. It all depends on what makes you happy."
