[it's a little ridiculous, how effy got herself messed up in a situation like this. then again, the dealer she'd crossed -- scratch that, the dealer her friend had crossed was completely insane, and there was no avoiding the essential backlash of the entire "operation". they were selling in the wrong territory, it was that simple. the thing is, that happened a few weeks ago, and now every single one of her friends, including her, were on the run. the dealer had them tracked down and didn't plan on stopping until they were all dead.

she'd be lying to herself if she wasn't at least partially involved. her friend had told her that it was fine, that they weren't crossing anyone, but earlier that same day effy had snuck into one of the men's homes and stolen some of their goods. they must have had a hidden camera. what a stupid, stupid move. she's smarter than that.

they split up, for good reason, but the cartel was always right on their heels. basically, she was in a giant fucking mess and there's no way she's going to get out of it unscathed.

it's late now, the fifth week on the run. she hasn't showered in at least three days and her clothes are a rumply, dirty mess. her leather jacket and boots are the only things that are really still intact- her tights are ripped in "convenient" places and her dress is coming apart at the seams. the only money she had saved was for the cab ride to get a good fifty miles away from her original location, and the rest was used for necessities (small bag, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush and the like). it's a miracle she's been able to not have a complete mental breakdown- her mind's been stuck on fight or flight for too long for her to focus on herself.

she's been crashing in empty homes, refusing to stay on the streets (she's too good for that), and though she's not entirely sure if the home she's headed for is empty, the most she'll get is a good rant and shoved out the door. she creeps in through the window, the floorboards creaking beneath her boots.

effy listens for a good few minutes before deciding that no one is home. she needs to shower; that's her priority, so she starts to make her way around the house -- it's empty, for the most part -- to search for the bathroom.]
