The Dollhouse AU Meme (For The TV Series)

Warning - There are many spoilers for the entire fandom/canon under the cut! Please do not read this meme if you want to avoid spoilers for the entire Dollhouse series.

This is the meme for people who want to RP in the Dollhouse world, including AUs and crossovers.

[How To]

1. Post as your character. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc. Please also write down preferences, etc in the comment box)

2. Choose a scenario, or any combinations of any scenarios you want to try out. Making up your own scenario is fine, too! Either mun can make the suggestions for a scenario.

3. Thread, tag and have fun!

1. Your character is a Doll/Active.

2. No, your character is a Handler, Tech or Management, etc.

3. Your character is a client.

3. Recruitment - So how'd your character end up in the Dollhouse, anyway?

4. Engagements - Romance. The client wants a perfect lover? Actually, that can be arranged...

5. Engagements - Mission Impossible. The client needed an Op done last friday, and they don't have a time machine? Don't worry, these are the Dolls who will make the impossible possible...

6. Engagements - Otherwise. Want a perfect person to arrange a wedding banquet, or to play chess with, or anything else? Yes, it can be done...

7. 'Needs' Revisted - The Dolls seem to be stressing out and regaining bits and pieces of their memories again. It's time to give them back parts of their original personalities for a bit, and let them blow off some steam...

8. What if you actually need more then one version of yourself? It can be arranged, actually, if you have the right connections...

9. The End Of the World Scenario - Dollhouse Tech has gotten out and run wild, and the world has gone done the crapper. Can your characters survive in a Crapsack World filled with blank slates and mental zombies, and go on to save the world?

11. The Day The Mindprogramming Equipment Malfunctioned - Things are going to go pearshaped very shortly...

12. Somebody else (that isn't connected to the Dollhouse or the parent company) has access to Dollhouse Tech.

This feels different. She knows he's holding out on her. He lied about the drug, about Skye's cure. He saw something in the Guest House, and whatever it was, he didn't tell her. That's not right. He's supposed to be honest to a fault with her.

It might not mean anything, but she's cautious. Director Fury's orders were clear. Now's as good a time as any to bring him in for a check-up. They made some excuse about a mission they could handle on their own, left the team on the plane, and the two of them are out in his car. Phil's driving. She doesn't say much, but she's a terrible passenger. She shoots him judgmental looks whenever she thinks he should've changed lanes. She would've taken a right back at some lights, a couple minutes ago, and she rolled her eyes about it. In spite of that, or possibly because of it, what they have is a very companionable silence.

She's aware of their surroundings. They're close now. Her face falls into a hard-set frown.]

Pull over.

[It's a no-argument tone, like there'll be serious consequences if he doesn't. It's how a person would sound seconds before throwing up on the upholstery. Whether it's out of concern for Lola or for her, they're stopped at the side of the road very quickly.

She hesitates, then reaches across and places a hand on his wrist.]

It means that she never tells herself that she will live to see another day, granted. But she prefers knowing, with a certainty borne out by decades of experience, that she will fight.

It feels strange to feel an echo of that faith when she glances at her Active, but none of them are unchanged by what they do. And if anyone is near to being a part of herself, it is him. Silently, she glances toward him as they work their way toward the compound. They have dense cover in the surrounding woods, and she can be closer yet, she is sure, before he goes in alone. She prefers to stay near, when the mission allows. And when she makes it allow.]

[Bennett used to be glad she'd survived. That the doctor-doll's bullet had only grazed her, that she'd stayed in Los Angeles instead of walking back into the mess she'd made in DC, that even after everything had gone to hell she'd had Topher (and he'd had her) so completely that nothing else seemed to matter. They were going to fix it, they swore to each other. They worked and they thought and they stayed with the others, became even more the scatterbrained geniuses needing just a bit of minding, but it was okay, because they were the ones who could fix this.

When it started to look like maybe they couldn't fix this is when Topher started to slip. Just a bit, gradual -- at first muttering to himself, refusing help for it, the usual signs. Bennett loved him (loves him, she doesn't think in the past tense about it even though they whisper that she perhaps should) and so Bennett stayed strong for him, but even brilliant Bennett couldn't work the problems out alone.

And after they all find Safe Haven, after Topher gets taken, that's when Bennett stops trying to keep herself together so much. She doesn't shirk, she helps around the house as much as she's allowed and helps to keep an eye on Priya's son and still plays at trying to figure out a solution, but she's not the same. She'd only been here because of Topher, she'd never gotten close with any of the rest, but now she's defaulted into being part of the giant surrogate family. She's the maiden aunt, maybe (everyone knows she's not a maiden, but it's been so long she may as well be, and besides it's the role she fits best) or the precocious, sickly sister, she needs looking after too.

She doesn't mind some of the others, though. Adelle doesn't talk down to her, and she appreciates that; she's not sure that Priya knows or ever knew what to do with her, but Priya's all right too. Getting along with them is important, and so when she notices Priya approaching her as she fumbles through doing the laundry (it's hard for her, but she doesn't ask for help, it gives her something to concentrate on and she likes that) she doesn't snap or cringe or ignore her but instead offers a (monotone, but what isn't nowadays):] Hello.
