why have you come?
1. You're searching for someone. A relative, a friend, a dead lover. Someone has led you to this quiet little town.
2. An accident. You got lost in the fog, the roads fell off into chasms, you thought you saw someone in the road and crashed. Time to venture farther in for help.
3. Returning visitor. You've come here before, to the lovely little resort town, and had a beautiful time. But this second trip will be different.
4. An escape. You're running from something ... or someone. A crime you committed? Grief? Too bad you ran to the wrong place...
5. Wildcard, or make up your own!

what horrors do you encounter?
1. You just met. You've only been able to find each other, no one else in town. Stores are deserted, doors are locked, silence is everywhere. What happened here? What's going on?
2. A shuffling in the night, the fog, or in a tight dark hallway of an abandoned building. A strange creature is moving toward you. Maybe humanoid, maybe not. They can be powerful. They can be slow. They can vomit acid. Time to pick up whatever plank, knife, or gun available to you ... if you both want to live.
3. A dark secret from your past is returning to haunt you. It manifests in hallucinations, the town reaching deep inside your mind to paint the surroundings in grotesque symbolism. Yet, the other person can't seem to see what you see.
4. The walls are peeling away. Or maybe you got knocked out and just woke up to an entirely different kind of town. There are chains, rust, fans, orange light, splatters of blood. A horrific version of what used to be around you. Welcome to the Otherworld.
5. That other person with you--you see them as someone they're not. Someone from your past that you loved or feel bone-wracking guilt over. And no matter what they say, that they're not, they're someone else, you just can't help but see...
6. The town has driven you insane. The monsters, the guilt you may carry. It's all coming back to you. You need to lash out. At anything. At anyone.

The booth by the roadside was dead - the wires hanging loose and exposed - and it's not like he could charge his cell from his jeep now.

The door to the diner opens with a squeak, the owner wiping down the front counter where a couple of other visitors go about their own business. ]

She's on the run. Finally turned her back on Gotham, on Arkham, on Joker and his betrayals. And sure, technically she should still be in Arkham, behaving herself in a neat little cell, but she broke out of there and now she's free to make a new life.

Her car stalled out just by the worn old sign reading Silent Hill, so she headed forward on foot. Dressed nicely in her psychiatrist chic, she intends to be and to remain the sane and intelligent Dr. Quinzel as she makes this new life of hers. But for the time being, she needs a phone and some automobile assistance, and possibly an available patsy to exploit while she's getting her feet on the ground. It's not exactly like she has generous funds at the moment.

But once she gets into town, the fog seems to have deepened, and all the shops are closed and locked. Even the houses look empty and abandoned. The few places she finds unlocked are still empty, and it's starting to become unnerving. Electricity cut, phones dead...

So here's what looks like an innocent and well put-together blond woman wandering the streets of Silent Hill, looking for any other humans or a working phone.

[Fear wasn't a familiar emotion to Rat. Not yet anyway, as she's yet to experience it again, but she thinks that this churning, nervous feeling wracking her head might be well on its way to developing into it. She lost sight of Parrot a long time ago. She had wandered deep into the mist, yelling for him before the low rumble of passing footsteps made her realize that it wasn't the best of actions.

She wasn't used to being on her own. Funnily enough, as the caretaker, she was the one expected to handle whatever may come. But Rat had never been without her orders. The only one she had now was the one buried deep in her fake heart: Find Parrot.

It takes her a while to realize that there was something wrong with this town. No people. No activity. By the time she's beginning to wonder if they've stepped into a trap, she spots someone up ahead. That strange tension in her unwinds and she walks towards her, making sure that her footsteps are loud and clear, raising a hand in greeting.]

Miss? Miss? Are you lost too?

(ooc: she's an oc, so let me know if that works for you! she's basically a golem with a soul learning how to deal with emotions. i gotta run off to school now but yeah.)

[ fyi, Evey is half-dead herself (she's not possessed as such, but there's an ancient ghost sharing her body with her and the deal she made with it to do so is what keeps her alive) and can automatically sense ghosts/dead things, and ghosts can sense her and are drawn to her, so that's... a thing.

[ It was impossible. It was a trap. She was being set up. She had seen Prim die, once in person; and then time and time again in nightmares, her subconscious running it on an endless loop. Whoever had sent this letter wasn't Prim.

And yet, the moment she had read it (twice over, with trembling hands) Katniss knew she had to find this "place", if only to find the person sick enough to masquerade as her sister. There was no way she was hoping that some how, by some miraculous or bizarre twist of fate, Prim really was alive. Of course not. Never.

It was with a bow and arrow strapped to her back and enough food to last her a few days in her bag that Katniss had made the cold, lonely journey to this "Silent Hill", a strange ghost town that had managed to remain standing when the bombs fell. She tries not to let her surroundings shake her, to ignore the fact that the fog seems to have gotten thicker with every step she takes further into town. Coincidence. Or natural occurrence. Irrelevant.

What matters is finding Prim... or the person pretending to be Prim, she reminds herself, because, of course, Prim is dead. Whoever is here, it can't possibly be her.

Katniss notches an arrow, and feels slightly safer for it. ]

Prim? [ For all her rationale telling her otherwise, Katniss can't help but call out for her sister. ] Prim!


[ ooc; soooo I really liked the idea of Silent Hill for Katniss and just kind of went with it :|b would love for some cross canon shenanigans, if you think of Silent Hill as being a bit interdimensional, then you can really throw in whoever from when/wherever without having to AU much of anything; they can be there for any reason, you feel me? If you'd like to tag with Katniss under some other circumstance let me know! :) ]

[ Katniss isn't the only one in all the worlds who had gotten a letter from a deceased relative. Myranda has been... perhaps not over, but at peace with Bethany's death for a long time now. For all the magic in Thedas, the dead can't come back to life — at least not as themselves — and she's long since settled with the fact that she won't see her little sister again, not in this life. Myranda isn't one to dwell on the past.

But the day the letter had ended up on her desk, she'd started to question herself. Even Bodahn couldn't tell her who had delivered it, and she hadn't dared tell her mother — Leandra was still heartbroken over her youngest daughter; she didn't need to hear that someone had sent Myranda a letter using Bethany's name. It's an imposter, surely. She has no shortage of people who might want her dead, or at least well out of the way. Yet the thought niggles at the back of her mind: what if it's real? It had been Bethany's handwriting, neat and clean on the paper.

She has to ask a few people discreetly over drinks at the Hanged Man before she figures out where this "Silent Hill" is; it's a village, just east of Kirkwall, a peaceful lake town. A bit of a tourist destination, really, and she wonders what in the Maker's name Bethany would be doing there, if it's really her.

Myranda sets off a week later with only her staff and a handful of basic supplies, not expecting to need much of anything. The town is covered in fog when she arrives, and no matter where she looks she can't find anyone to direct her. By the time she realizes the folly of what she's done, she's well and truly lost.

Ironically enough, she's just about to start calling for Bethany when she hears someone else's voice, echoing through the dense fog — a girl, but not her sister. Tension prickles the fine hairs on the back of her neck, and she puts a hand on her staff where it's fastened across her back, ready to fight if she has to.

She can just make out a person approaching her now, a young woman armed with a bow. The last thing she needs is to get shot; Myranda stops, displaying her hands palm-out to show she doesn't mean any threat. She's not the kind of person to strike first, but she's still watching the girl for any sign of hostility. ]

Fine weather we've got here, isn't it? [ Leave it to Myranda to make a joke out of a serious situation. She pauses, then adds, ] I might be being a little presumptuous, but I don't suppose you got a letter, too?

[ It's a guess. The girl doesn't really seem like she fits here. ]

[The fog had come suddenly, and much as Zuko thought he still had his bearings, apparently he had been wrong about that. It took him a few minutes to find anything to call a landmark, and even when he did get into the town, it raised more questions than it answered. The place was unfamiliar, and didn't even look like anything that should have been where he found it. And beyond that, there was no one here. Just him, unfamiliar empty buildings, and the stupid fog.

He immediately took up a defensive position when he noticed another figure approaching, but soon he started to realize who it was.]

[Whatever Roxas was expecting, it wasn't this. The sign that says Silent Hill, the creepy feel of the town, all of it. One minute he'd been screaming at DiZ, and the next accepting his fate, and yet here he was. If he were to classify it as anything, it was lost.

Roxas puts a hand to his head as he walks, taking a look around. He has a headache, one he probably wouldn't have had to deal with if he wound up with Sora where he was supposed to, instead he was out in a strange somewhat creepy place.

All he can do now is try and figure out where he is, and how he got there, then how to get back out. He wonders idly if DiZ interfered again, if this was some other fake place like Twilight Town had been.]
