Detroit still wasn't quite used to having robots around. The whole Dreyfus Amendment put that into law, but that didn't include sentient cyborgs, or robots from space.
Alex wasn't too sure whose idea it was to assign him as the bodyguard, but he figured it was meant to be some kind of compliment to the newcomer, and not, you know, some sort of 'you're both freaks, go be freaks together'. At least he hoped it wasn't.
All he knows is he's been told to wait in the underground garage for his new charge to arrive.

Maybe he just likes the view from back here, Drift. There's a certain strange charm to that angry strut, the hard switch of the hips. No, no, he's not being distracted at all!

Well, this was at least better than hiding at the bottom of Lake Michigan or skulking around in caves. But seriously? Did they think she needed protection? She's only doing this because having a human sidekick would make being stuck on this planet easier. At least she assumes he's human? She's heard interesting things and that's the other reason she's here: curiosity driven by boredom.

His scans read out at least three violations for reckless driving as the car barrels down the ramp, which he overrides. At least for the moment. His assignment was to protect his charge, not drown them in citations.

If you ask Deadlock, Dai Atlas can't think of anything outside his huge, heavily armored skull plating. Either that or the idea of rooming Deadlock with Jettis Seximus is some kind of evil plot. Which, for the record, will not work.

Hey, hey hey, leave the law enforcement flavored intimidation to the experts, okay? You might, he doesn't know, strain an axle or something.
"If we are to work together, you should feel...comfortable." Is that a thing? Hi, here's your cyborg partner. Nothing weird here, with the whole flat affect and monotone voice or anything. So, hey, on the plus side, he could definitely say 'spike' with a straight face. Let him prove it. "Someone named their son Spike?" That was the kind of name wannabe criminals gave their pitbulls, or in one notable case, his chihuahua. That Spike had been a biter. A yappy biter.

Shinigami, Hollows, Quincy he could grasp, but this was like getting sucked into a strange book. However, it was work and he didn't mind fighting a few monsters here and there.
When they first met, he'd been surprised that Claude could see him in his shinigami form. It was likely due to his supernatural origin. That made things much easier when defending the halfling. At present, he'd gotten an urgent message and kicked into gear. It didn't take him too long to arrive.

[Thank goodness that Ichigo showed up at the time he did. That had been too close to get ugly. He rather his blood to stay inside of his body and not as the food to some monsters.]
