There are times where Erik doesn't know whether Charles knows what this entails, him being a stranger to most human norms, but he indulges anyway, because quite clearly Charles has spent more than his fair share of time lounging in front of the television and watching daytime soap operas while snoozing.

Or something. He can never really be sure what Charles does when Erik is away at work, but tonight, he makes him a special sort of fish -- his favorite, fresh from the portside fishery -- and finally serves it after making Charles wait outside of the kitchen with a stern word and a well-placed glare. ]

[ It can't really be considered a date, if they're not leaving the mansion, but Erik isn't going to try and persuade Charles either way, when he seemingly was enthusiastic about dinner out on the veranda, and the possibility of a movie later that night. Raven as always was nearby, despite Erik's insistence that he could care for the man on his own, taking a seat in one of the empty chairs nearby, a book in her hand, eyes fixed solely on Erik with the implication that if he made one mistake in the wrong direction, he'd be kicked out in an instant. Not that it perturbed him all that much, occupying himself in the kitchen, with Charles hovering nearby. He wasn't by any means an exceptional chef, learning enough to get by on most days, but he'd manage just for the sake of Charles. They had spent enough time together, slowly learning how to work around each other, Charles with his own history, and Erik with his, that in some way, they fit together despite the awkwardness associated with the occasional conversation.

Dinner tonight was a simple affair anyway, grilled chicken as well as Erik could manage in unfamiliar territory, and a variety of vegetables he managed to find in the kitchen, setting them carefully onto both plates, darting back to check on the chicken. Any other case, he'd rush the food, but Charles would be waiting, and the least Erik could do was impress him with the attention he was willing to give back to the man. Fingers curling around each plate, he starts the slow walk towards the deck, evening just beginning to seep in outside, weather warm enough that they could spend hours in the light breeze, perhaps even draw Charles out just a bit more. ]
