"Sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," she says. "You're right I'm not."

He was nice enough to invite her in as a stranger. She doesn't want upset him or make him change his mind. And she isn't really a bad person. Not like some of the people in her line of work. Not like the people after her.

He nods, taking the cup if she's done with it and going to wash it in the sink. Trying to get his mind of that.

She has upset him she thinks.

Maybe she's forgotten what it's like to be around non-criminals who aren't always insulting each other for fun and sport. Some people are more sensitive.

If he was upset, truly, he'd be having a bit more of a panic. He finishes the dishes and sets a few blankets on the end of the sofa for her if she wants them. "Bathroom is down the hall," he explains.

She stands up as he comes in. His height combined with her shortness and sitting on the couch, makes it sort of uncomfortable for her to look up at him.

"Thank you again," she says. "I really appreciate you asking me in. This is...a lot nicer than my hostel."

He nods a bit. She might be safer here, than the hostel, though he's not very good at fighting anymore.

"Do you know if ... They know where you are." Just so he's prepared.

"I don't think so," she says. "If they did, I think I'd already know."

In other words, they would have already taken her, or worse, she'd be dead.

"It's been a month since I basically went off the grid and I haven't seen anyone suspicious."

A month out there by herself just wandering around Europe.

"Doesn't mean they're not there," he knows he sounds paranoid, but.., it's true.

"If they knew where I was, I wouldn't be here right now," she says. "But...if you're worried, I can leave."

She doesn't want to put anyone else in danger and she would understand if he wasn't comfortable with her staying there.

"No you," he shifts his feet. "It's fine. You don't have to leave." He's just awkward, that's all. "Please, um. Help yourself. Goodnight, Miss." He turns to shuffle to his rooms, favoring his left leg a little, but. It's an old injury, can't really be fixed.

She nods her thanks.

"Goodnight," she says and watches him walk off before she goes to find the bathroom.

There's silence in the house and his light finally turns out. He does mumble though, and he'll have nightmares, thankfully not screaming ones.

After using the bathroom she pads quietly back to the living room and makes herself comfortable on the couch, which actually is more comfortable than her bed at the hostel, and thinks about the weird day this has been.
