[ John wouldn't let this lie. He'd seen Sherlock bored but this is different. He doesn't like it. ]

[He thinks about that. Ten, then thirty seconds, of long silence, assessing the violent jealousy curling tight in his chest.

The reasons they're non-monogamous are many and varied, and all very valid. He won't give that up in a fit of pique.]

I think- I need a little reaffirmation.

Reaffirmation? [ It's starting to become a little clearer now. John's not totally stupid or oblivious but it's still hard to pick up on the little things Sherlock does. He had agreed to a non-monogamous relationship with Sherlock because...he had wanted Sherlock and feared that was the only way to get him. So John went on a few dates every now and again because he thinks that's what Sherlock wants him to do. He doesn't want to crowd his flatmate and risk them loosing their relationship. ] You mean about... [ Waves a hand between them. ] ...us?

[ John just smiles, rolling his eyes at the smug look. He feels better. It's good.

Then Sherlock says that and John's heart speeds up and he has no idea what to say so he says the first thing that comes to mind. ] I don't think I'll be going on any dates for awhile.

[ John shakes his head. None of those are good enough reasons. ] You have a heart, Sherlock. I've seen it. And...well, I'd rather introduce you to my family than some girl that won't be with me the next time around. I hardly ever attend work parties anyways but I'm sure you'd be fun to take. [ He shrugs. ] Just because you're 'ill-suited' for some thing doesn't mean I want someone else. Being in a relationship, Sherlock, means understanding the ill-suited things as well as the great things.
