You're a pop star, or a royal, or maybe even the last of your kind who will bring about the Earth's redemption. Whatever the case may be, you're in a position that may be a bit dicey if you attract the wrong kind of attention.
And you're a bodyguard, a soldier, a knight - a protector. Somehow, you've been roped into protecting this person. You'll be rewarded, of course. The work may be cut out for you, but just do your job, keep your head down, and it'll go smooth.
Except for when the two of you break the bounds of professionalism and feelings begin to flourish. Being in such close quarters may get you to see the other in a different light, and saving someone's life just may be the ultimate form of intimacy.
Could this be the real danger? To feel so strongly for the one you've sworn to protect...are you compromised?
How to Play 1. Comment with your character and preferences, being sure to put if you want to play the guard, the guarded, or either. Also, you may want to put if you prefer fluffy, angsty, or smutty interaction - or have no preference. 2. Comment to others. 3. There are no prompts, because there are so many potential options there could be a hundred. Feel free to play anything: the beginnings of the relationship, just meeting, getting used to each other/not getting along at first, the obligatory first time, a threat on the protected's life and how their protector responds, how the feelings between the two has changed the protection, etc. Your only limit is you. |

His mouth puckers in a slight, perplexed frown before he turns back to her. ]
Something going on around here, Gingersnap?
no subject
You felt it, didn't you?
no subject
Yeah, I did. Is that why you Called? Are you all right?
no subject
[She grits her teeth as she struggles to figure out what to say.]
I'm alright. I didn't call for my sake. I can handle myself.
[She slowly raises herself out of the kitchen chair and rests her hand on her abdomen. It's soft and rounded around the child that is unmistakably inside of her. She's petite and clearly early enough along that she's only just begun to show. Her fingers clench around the fabric of her dress covering her gently protruding stomach.]
I called for his sake.

Clara, you're--
[ Smooth, Jack. It's not like she doesn't already know. So he swallows the rest of his sentence and tries again with actual thought behind it this time. ]
You really did grow up. I'll help you-- help both of you, okay? Tell me everything you know.
no subject
It really has been a long time, hasn't it. [She sniffles and eases herself back into a chair, trying to fight the exhaustion that seems to come with being pregnant.] It's... I don't know what it is. Like something's following me. Something bad. But it tries to stay hidden, I think most people don't notice it or can't. But I can.

[ He leaned on the counter, watching her, silently noting the strain with which she sat. ]
Do you feel it when you're around other people too, or only when you're alone? When did it start?
no subject
[She swallows and blows her nose, thinking back to when it started.]
I feel it when others are around. Worse when I'm alone. Started about... five months ago. When I first got pregnant.
no subject
And does it happen everywhere? Obviously it happens here at home...
[ He glances back at the window, but senses nothing further from it. ]
Anywhere you noticed you don't feel it at all?
no subject
It's less in my bedroom. And where I work, Coal Hill School.
no subject
It'll be fine, Clara. I won't let anything happen to you. I'm going to take a quick fly around and clear the area, but I'll be back shortly, 'kay?
no subject
I'll be waiting.
[She gives him a tired smile and brushes her fingers against his hand. She trusts him to help. Or if he can't, she'll get through. She always does.]
no subject
Go ask around and see if there's anyone in the area who might know what's going on.
[ Even though who or whatever was doing this might not be a spirit, Jack had been able to sense the disturbance immediately. If there were local spirits here, they might be able to give him more information. That done, he completed his circuit of the area before returning to the house and knocked before entering again. ]

Find anything?
no subject
[ And that was Clara's impromptu lesson in spirit politics! He eyes her. ]
How, um. You know... far.
[ He kind of awkwardly gestures toward her stomach. Jack Frost was not well versed in asking pregnant women about baby questions, it was very evident. ]
no subject
Right. No challenging. No more spirits knocking on my doors. Definitely could live with out that.
[And another blink and then a grin. He's really cute. Like one of her awkward teenage students. He used to seem so mature and cool. She sniffles and rubs at her stomach. She's only gained about fifteen pounds after being so sick her first few months on top of her petite stature.]
About five months. Little more than halfway there. Thank god.
no subject
[ He's a little grateful she doesn't needle him for his lack of coherency. And excuse her, he is still cool!! Sometimes. ]
So you... live here by yourself?
no subject
[She grins at him, through it becomes thinner as he mentions her living situation.]
Just me and the little guy.
no subject
I didn't mean anything by the question, I swear. I'm hardly anyone to make assumptions, Clara. It's just that I left a zephyr on the doorstep and if there was someone else coming in tonight, I didn't want them to end up in the tree around the corner.
no subject
I've been asked that question far too many times to be offended by it. Especially not from you.
no subject
[ He gestures ineffectually around the house. ]
Anything I can help with?
no subject
[A pause.]
For now anyway.
no subject
It's late though... it looks like you could use probably use some sleep.

Welcome to pregnancy. I'm always tired. Fell asleep at my desk once and a student had to prod me awake.
[But she's standing and heading towards her bedroom like a good girl.]
