She'll find other notes and flowers adorning the mirror in the bathroom, in a corner of the hallway, sitting on her laptop. In the kitchen, though, is the real surprise: a bouquet of Irish flowers, including eyebright, madder, and scurvygrass, with a card reading "Happy Valentine's Day!"

[Bluh! It feels like she's been standing here for forever!

"Here", of course, being the cold hallway outside their cracked bedroom door, and "for forever" being about twenty minutes, give or take. Dave could probably count exactly how long it's been, if he were so inclined; as it has been a pretty horrible day, he's probably more inclined to focus on mixing some new music, as he's wont to do when he's had a horrible day.

First, the car wouldn't start, and then the power went out -- and when it came back on, the furnace stopped working properly. Thankfully, it's not so cold outside that they have to resort to wearing winter jackets indoors, but it's still cold enough to be miserable. That hadn't been the end of it, though. With the power going out, it meant that the meatloaf hadn't cooked properly, which meant it was going to be a fast-food sort of night. So, after wrestling with the car (again), they had managed to go out to the closest fast-food joint, only to deal with long waits for burgers and fries that were probably better left to staying under the heat lamps.

They bickered on the way home, which escalated to arguing over the realization that the washing machine had been interrupted mid-rinse-cycle when the power went out, which left them keeping to their own opposite ends of the townhouse until now. Now, being late, and if there's one thing Jade hates, it's going to bed angry.

She comes in slowly, wearing nothing but a pair of boyshorts under one of his raglan baseball tees, what with her shirts all in the dryer at the moment. Her hair is a little tousled from where she'd been reading one of her books on the downstairs couch, and... her toes are cold. Thin arms slip over his shoulders and cross over his chest, and a chilly nose presses into the hair at the top of his head. She doesn't say anything, because she's pretty sure he won't be able to hear her over the music in his headphones, but she does nuzzle at him and sigh against his hair.]
