[She was meeting him that day. That same day that she was going to walk down the altar. Well, at least they had this moment before the ceremonies to talk. She was still in her usual, opulent kimono - it was bad luck to see the bride in her gown before the wedding, so she'd insisted on seeing him dressed in her regular attire.]

[She blushed, smiling up at him.]

[ It's.. strange. Definitely strange. For someone as oblivious as Kotomi, a feeling like 'love' is already difficult enough to distinguish from other feelings, so when she hears that she's going to have an arranged marriage due to her guardian's influence, it's strange.

But this is something she has to do in that case then, right? And marriage is only something natural, something that so many people have in their lives that it's probably normal. But no matter how many books she reads about it, she still feels she can't quite grasp the concept. That's why even now, practically right before the marriage itself, Kotomi actually feels a little nervous. ]

Is it.. really alright? [ Her voice is a little soft - it's usually soft, really, but now even moreso. ]

[ It's the easiest way, right? If she would have to proclaim her intentions of marriage to her parents, surely her mother would have complained - as usual - and it wasn't like her dad could ever stand up to her mom, so this was much easier. No worries about dealing with parents or shaking everyone's hands for a long boring time or anything of the like.. no, just the two of them. Much, much better.

It's probably why Minako is currently busy dragging Asem onto the train to a nearby city, laughing all the while. ]

Come on, come on! If they find out what we're going to do, we'll be in deep trouble, right? [ She's absolutely giddy about it though. The thrill only makes everything more exciting, and as long as she's with the person she loves, then anything is okay. ]

[He's never been dressed this nice since his parents' funeral, and its easy to tell he's rather uncomfortable in it all. In fact, the whole wedding seems to be making him a little antsy, feet shifting, fingers toying with the cuff links on his shirt even as he stands next to Belle at the alter.]

Hey. [If he whispers quietly enough he won't interrupt whatever it is the minister is saying, right?] Were we supposed to write our own vows and stuff? I ain't never done anything like this before.

Pinoko raised her shoulders, willing herself to look composed, and when that failed, she decided that looking tense was better than looking like a shaking, sobbing wreck.

She could feel her lip about to tremble, so she bit the inside of her lip to steady it.

Her eyes were heavy with the weight of unshed tears, but she didn't want to spill a drop. Not one. She didn't care if she looked too much like a child when she cried, but this time, it really wasn't about her. It was about Black Jack, the Lady Doc she'd grown to love, just like the Doc she left behind. They were both very similar; they were both so strong, but Pinoko was weaker than both.
Yes, she was weak, she wasn't much help, she wasn't very skillful, or very clever, but she still wanted to be by his and then her side. She always wanted to be a support.
But now, once again, Black Jack was leaving to a place she couldn't follow.
Rather than selfishly and childishly insist that the doctor stay by her side, she decided to accept that the latter felt a need to go and fight. Even if she would rather go out and fight with her, it took her a while, but she finally managed to convince herself that she would only be a hindrance and a burden to Black Jack if she followed her.

All she could do, in the end, was give her support.
So she had to stay strong and say goodbye.

The meal was very well cooked and quite lavish. Pinoko spent a long time preparing for it, gathering ingredients, and even scouring the gardens for the perfect flowers to set on the table, because she knew this would be the last time Black Jack would have the chance to eat such a lovely meal for a long time.

But not forever.
She doesn't ever want to think about the possibility that Black Jack might never come back.

A forced little smile. "So... you'll be leaving shoon, right?"

She wondered if this is what Yuri felt when she watched her brother go off to war. Pinoko never asked her about it, because it sounded too painful.
Now, she was starting to understand that it was not just too painful... it was indescribable; words could never accurately convey how it felt, so it was pointless to try.
She didn't want to think of him coming back changed like Dr. Kiriko. She didn't want to. She wanted him to come back just the same. Was that selfish of her?
