[The crush snuck up on him. Karkat just thought of Gamzee as a friend at first, a really horrible friend sometimes, but still a presence that he knew he could rely on. He doesn't know when his feelings changed. Shit, he isn't even sure what he wants beneath his own overwhelming feelings of self-doubt. Just that he wants to be closer. All of this confusion makes it awkward to even talk to Gamzee sometimes. Karkat doesn't know what to say.]

_{[When it comes to Gamzee, it doesn't really seem to matter what much of anyone says to him to begin with, as long as anyone's talking to him at all. It's when he's left alone for a long time that anyone needs to worry about him and what he's doing with himself. As it stands though, he's just happy that Karkat's there with him at all and spending any amount of time with him. He's careful not to drape himself all over his friend like he'd usually want to though and instead just sat back against his wall with his head back, hands pushed into his pockets, wide, stoned smile all over his face.]}

[Karkat pauses because he realizes how pathetic he sounds. Shit, why is he nervous around Gamzee? The guy practically worships the ground he walks on. Karkat is still afraid he'll somehow fuck it up though.]

I appreciate the offer, but I'm not interested. I don't need anything to calm my rage. I like it just the way it is. What would I even be like if I weren't angry? I'm not sure I'd want to know.

I've seen you without your motherfuckin' rage on, bein' all motherfuckin' peaceful-like. You could settle into that shit easy if you weren't tryin' to motherfuckin' hold onto this idea that since this is how you present to people, this is how you always gotta be. Ok, maybe I'm not angry all the time, but I still think it's one of my best features. Why would I want to change that? I'm a fucking badass and everyone knows it!

[Karkat sits down closer to Gamzee than he normally would. He hopes his friend doesn't notice, or at least that he doesn't mind.]

But I guess I overdo it sometimes. I could probably relax once in awhile. Just not all the time, because I still have to be able to get angry when the situation calls for it. I wouldn't feel like myself if I couldn't.
