The Nest of Eggs Meme

(An interactive Fire Lizards of Pern meme)

One day, while exploring the world you stumble across a nest with a single egg inside. At first, you think it must be dead. Why else would it be abandoned like this? Suddenly, the egg jumps and you realize that something must be alive inside. What could this mysterious egg be hiding? Hang around and you might just find out.

How to Play
Step One: Leave a comment with your muse. Nest O' Flitts will reply with a randomly selected fire lizard hatchling for your muse. We will give you the basic information, color, gender and personality. Congratulations, you have a brand new companion!

Step Two: Now that you have your pet, time to go around and tag others. Play in the Pern canon or play in your muse's canon. Either way, you tag whomever you want to play around with your new pet.

Can't think of anything? Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
Hunting Party: Fire lizards make excellent trackers. Think of them like scaly birds of prey. Gather your friends together and go hunt some wild game.

Social Event: A fire lizard is a symbol of status. You have the wealth and means to take care of one of these special pets. Time to show your pet off and be the envy of the event.

Playing Games: Fire lizards are playful creatures. Get together and play some fetch with your new pets or perhaps set up an aerial obstacle course. Have fun!

Fighting: Oh no! You're under attack! Luckily your new pet is very protective and is helping you fight off your attackers.

Mating Flight: Female fire lizards go into heat once or twice a year when they lead males on a merry chase until the strongest or cleverest catches them. Your pet is either leading the flight (female fire lizards) or your pet has joined a chase (male fire lizards).

A tiny green dragon mite baby creeled from under the collar of Aaron's brown canvas jacket, hungry. His stomach rumbled. "Drive through?" he asked Kay, rather cryptically. He hadn't known what to expect, but a mental highjack hadn't been it. At least he wasn't in it alone.

You walk into an overgrown field bordering a broken-down chain-link fence. The nearby road sports a single, rusted bus stop sign that does not look like it's been visited since the new millennium rolled in. In the distance, rising skyscrapers mark the core of a moderately-sized city, far enough north in latitude that the sun strikes down at an angle.

You wonder how the hell anything up here survives long enough to lay a single egg that isn't grey, cooes, and uses every opportunity to shit on your favourite leather jacket.

"You wondering how this thing got here?" a tall, blonde, whip-cord rangy man asks. You're more likely wondering what he is doing here. He looks like he'd be more at home amid the concrete of the core. He had his hands jammed into the pockets of his equally narrow, horrendously fashionable denim jacket. Now one of them is cupping the speckled egg, looking tempted to toss it. "Don't tell anyone I mentioned it, but a pack of fucking monsters lives out in these parts. Dragons, y'know? Kids, really, but they make a mean lair. Wanted me out here to do some rewiring."

He barely suppresses the urge to toss the egg up and catch it, getting a bit of a moon-eyed look as he gazes at it. "Wouldn't be surprised if it was some kind of dragon-mite. These kids, they don't bathe, they don't know the meaning of hygiene. Last they knew they were in the 1600's. Plague era, and et cetera." Yet he grins, fondly, then grows startled. "Oh shit, I didn't think this thing'd actually hatch--"

There's a definite crack forming along the shell. The blonde man hurriedly frees his other hand to cup the egg in both hands, morbidly curious despite himself. What emerges is...

(YWIAW-style posts for pern-related things or nothing! Going for the goooooold!)(Woops, I hadn't read your rules and info about dice rolls. Come what may I'll be happy! I kind of hope there is an underground pile of adoptables-journals that go around dropping various creatures on people. I love this idea to pieces!)

This was the last time he let Sensei Watanabe recruit him for a mission when he was smiling that stupid sneaky smile of his. Hunter knew he should have questioned harder, about why he was taking Hunter away from his students at the Thunder Academy and asking him to go on this mission instead of one of the former Wind Rangers. He'd been too honored just to be asked by his former mentor that he'd been blinded to reason (not that he would ever admit it).

Hunter was supposed to watch the hatching and report back. The reason Sensei Watanabe had needed someone to go in the first place was the former Mystic Force Rangers were unable to send someone and they needed to know how it went. They figured a ninja would be the best option to observe unnoticed so had reached out to Ninja Storm. And that's how Hunter found himself hiding in the shadows of the hatching grounds, observing the hatchlings and those they claimed.

All was going well...until a little brown lizard came right up and started staring at Hunter's hiding place. When the lizard started making noises pointedly in his direction...the thunder ninja knew he was in trouble.

A gold isn't a queen unless she has her court... even if that court at the moment amounts to one. A very small green flit alighted upon a branch near Wind Rider, peeping and ducking her head in as close to a bow as a not-quite-sentient stranger is wont to get. Her owner isn't in sight yet, though chances are that, it being a green, they could be anywhere.
