The Caving Adventure Meme
The Caving Adventure Meme

There are a whole lot of things about caves that can be scary, even for an experienced explorer. Caving is not the most dangerous sport but there are inherent risks, from falls to drowning to hypothermia to bad air, or even just getting trapped or lost. The potential adventures are limitless.
This is a meme and so you don't have to be accurate by any means, but for those unfamiliar with caving and who want to know more can visit this site, which gives an overview of some basic information that might answer questions or give you ideas! There are also several RNG options to get you started, or you can set up your own scenario from scratch.
Warning: This meme can potentially contain violence, gore, and upsetting situations, particularly for anyone who may be claustrophobic.
Situation
1. Exploring. You went into this cave knowingly, for fun or sport or even as a quest. Presumably you planned for this, and have the equipment you need.
2. Unintentionally. You didn't mean to be here; you may have fallen through a sinkhole, or even found yourself in the cave suddenly with no memory of how you got there. You're stuck now, though, so hopefully you have some supplies on hand that you can use to get out.
3. Wildcard. Make up whatever you like!
Cave type
1. Dry cave. The name might be a little deceptive as most caves are wet and muddy and grimy to some degree, but the majority of these caves are dry rock. There might be a few ponds and a small river at the very lowest level of the cave, but water isn't a big issue to contend with.
2. Wet cave. These caves are almost entirely swimming or wading, and some are completely flooded and require diving gear. There are some dry rooms, but they're few and far between. Better be careful with your air tanks!
3. Dry/Wet cave. A combo of both extremes, part of these caves are dry but some rooms are flooded or only accessible by swimming. Neither type of terrain is dominant.
4. Ice cave. These caves are found at the ends of the earth, made by changes in the temperature within glaciers and icebergs. They're beautiful but incredibly unstable, and collapse is a huge threat.
5. Wildcard. There are some rarer types of caves like lava caves, and magic or other worlds could create many more options than listed. Let your imagination go wild!
Complications
1. Monsters. Whether they're The Descent's crawlers, The Cave's demons, giant lampreys, or anything else, there are creatures in this cave that there shouldn't be. Sometimes there's even more than one kind of monster; caves are big places.
2. Cave-in. Your way in--or way out--has been blocked off by a cave-in. Better find another path out, if it exists.
3. Lights out. Your lights, be they flashlights, lamps, torches, or glowsticks, have failed. You're in the dark. Better find a new way to see, or hope your other senses are enough to get you safely home.
4. Injuries. Someone in your party is hurt, and that makes getting out of a cave more than a little difficult. Hopefully whoever is injured has friends they can rely on to help them.
5. Broken equipment. You need to scale a wall, but your rope snapped. You have to dive, but one of your air tanks is leaking. Time to learn to improvise!
6. Supernatural power loss. Uh-oh, it looks like for whatever reason you're a boring, normal human. Looks like you're not going to just be teleporting your way out of this one.
7. Wildcard. Anything else that could go wrong can go wrong, and sometimes multiple things happen at once. Pick and choose whatever you like, combine options, or make up new ones!
Castiel | Supernatural | OTA
1 | 3 | 4.
There's a lot of sliding around and running from things that really shouldn't be in caves. He had no idea where Dean was and the only reason Castiel and Sam were still together was because Castiel had a hold on his jacket when they accidentally fell down a half-collapsed tunnel. The result was a few broken ribs on Sam's part and Lord only knows with Castiel and Sam could swear he heard a river somewhere.
Great.]
You alright?
no subject
When Castiel felt their footing start to go out from under them he grabbed hold of Sam's jacket, trying to keep them stable, but it was a completely lost cause. A lot of tumbling later and Castiel found himself in a lot of first, scraped up and with a possibly sprained wrist, but not seriously hurt. Hearing Sam's voice was a relief, the hunter beating him to the question.]
I'm fine. Are you?
no subject
[As Sam shoves himself up onto his feet, cringing at the sharp pain through his abdomen. Shit.]
Where's Dean?
no subject
[And he really hopes he okay. Castiel makes it up to his feet, retrieving one of the flashlights before returning to Sam's side.]
Are you certain you're alright?
no subject
[A bit more insistently as Sam sweeps the flashlight around with a frown, one arm around his midsection.]
We need to get out of here.
no subject
Should we follow the water?
no subject
[A quiet agreement as he guides his flashlight over a bit.]
The water's gotta go somewhere.
no subject
[Because they're both human, and holding their breath long enough to swim through an underground river is not an option.]
Anderson Havoc | OC
Sofia's mun here :3c Your roll while I update her info?
2-1-2 - Sure thing!
The rumbling finally came to a lull, and Havoc coughed up dust and dirt, trying to clear the air with a wave of his hand as he squinted through the musky dark. He coughed again, grasping through air to find a wall to hold onto. The floor still shook softly, but not too much.]
You there? You ok? C'mon, talk to me!
[His priority was his companion, and he'll be damned if he lets anything happen to her.]
Profile is updated for now x3
Still alive, dude. You can breathe happy.
[Calleigh looks at her expensive sneakers and groaned]
This was a bad day to wear these Nikes.
Yaaay
Bad day for anything. Told you we shoulda taken a left...

[Calleigh laughed, giving Andy two pats on the back and a wide grin. Unfazed and smiling as always]
Even if we're in here, look at the bright side.
[Calleigh snapped her fingers, creating a spark of electricity in her hand and illuminating the cave a bit]

No way...
[Calleigh threw some sparks on the ground to get a better look of the intensive cavern they got themselves into. She turned to get Andy's attention]
Yo, I doubt that boulder would move even if I pushed it. But it looks like there might be another way out on the other side!
no subject
God damn, you could build Helms Deep in here.
no subject
[That got a chuckle from Calleigh as she took the lead, flicking smalls sparks of electricity on the ground to light their way like flares.]
So... You and I haven't really had much chance to talk before this. I normally ask guys this over dinner, but tell me about yourself.
[All he knows about her is that she's a smartass and never shows signs of being upset just like he is. That, and she has superpowers. It seems that radiation from detonation of nuclear weapons can really alter someone's genetic traits, mutating them into strange creatures. Or there's the one in a million chance of getting superpowers]
no subject
I'm goin' to need to know specs if I'm goin' to keep talkin'. I'm not keen on just poppin' off at the mouth.
no subject
That summary of your life would work as a title for my autobiography.
[Calleigh kept walking, remembering her past that she tries to ignore. She ran away more than got kicked out, but it was only a matter of time before she does get thrown out of the house by her father and stepmother. It seems she and Havoc are more alike than she thought]
Alright, what specs you wanna know? Ask away.
[She's not keen on talking about herself either, but seeing similarities between them made Calleigh feel more safe about divulging information of her past to Andy]
no subject
[He nearly trips over a rock, but catches himself, trying to play it off by putting his hands in his pockets and looking away. Real smooth, there, bucko.]
no subject
Fair 'nough.
[Calleigh jumped smoothly over a big boulder before she spoke again]
Why did you get kicked out?
[Calleigh doesn't know anything about Havoc yet besides being the guy with the funky hair-do and is a naturally good shot]
no subject
Born Andrea. When I told my parents, they put me to the streets. I drew and played music to get the money to get where I needed to go.
no subject
Sorry they didn't understand. Similar thing happened to me. My parents, well... my dad and my stepmom. When they found out I got superpowers, they tried to sell me and my stepsister. We managed to ran away before the men-in-black type o' guys came to our house. Next thing we know, we tried to do what we can to earn a living.
[Calleigh stops to wait for Havoc, putting her hands on her hips even offering a helping hand to assist him up a rocky slope.
At the distance of the cave, something is moving behind the collection of rocks and pillars in the shadows. It caused a sound of pebbles rolling on the rocks as, stealthily watching the two humans. Unfortunately, that sound is very common in caves like this.
Calleigh normally could detect any one within a wide radius, but there's something in this cave that's messing up her ability to electronically sense things]
no subject
[He gestures to himself before taking her hand, climbing up the slope. He slips just a bit before catching himself, and climbing the rest of the way. Sighing, he pats down the dirt off his jeans. He wasn't the most confident when it came to his appearance. He looked good, yeah, but he didn't think so. Dysphoria was a bitch, though, and it wouldn't go away.]
God damn. I'm startin' to understand how Tom Sawyer felt. Fuckin' caves...
no subject
[She laughed then gave him a pat on the back. Calleigh would say that these powers are actually more of a curse than a blessing, or something cliche like that. But she just chose to save her breath in case the exit out of this cave is still a ways ahead]
The air don't feel so thin inside these caves, I guess that's a goo--
[Calleigh didn't have the time to react, but a basketball sized boulder hit her from the side and threw her against another rock. A serptentine creature, a gorgon-like monster revealed itself from the shadows. It moved fast, slithering between the rock pillars of the cave, being able to hide to the darkness and jump out into the light created by the electric sparks on the ground. It roared at Havoc, showing it's serpentine fangs on the head and body of a man]
