The Mistletoe Meme

Oh no, mistletoe!

Image from http://www.localnomad.com/en/blog/2012/11/26/why-people-kiss-under-the-mistletoe-at-christmas/

SHOOT. Who put that there?! Well, you’re caught - pucker up!

How to Play

  1. Post your character and canon in the subject line
  2. Next person who responds is the one you’re caught under the mistletoe with!
  3. Go as awkward, sweet, or embarrassing as you like! (Quick cheek peck? Full French? Sure! But you have to kiss or the Nargles will get you!)
  4. Comment, Tag, and catch others under the mistletoe. Have fun!

[ Guess who looked up everything about Christmas and found out what Mistletoe is? If you guessed Lioriley, then you'd be right! She's not entirely certain why a plant hanging from doorways would have magical properties that demanded two people to kiss, but hey, humans were weird so she could just chalk it up to that.

The problem with Lioriley learning new things is that she likes to share what she learns, and she is either a mischievous little shit all of a sudden (haha, that's a funny joke) or she genuinely wants to kiss a certain ladyfriend of hers. Whatever the reason, she's standing on a chair in the living room whenever Haruka comes waltzing through, holding the mistletoe above her head as if she had planned it perfectly.

she didn't, but that was some pretty sweet timing, right? ]

Ah-- Haruka, there you are!

[ Haruka comes bearing cookies. It wasn't her idea, but certain people she lives with love domestic traditions. She's not sure whether Lioriley celebrates Christmas, but even if she doesn't it isn't likely anyone would turn down free dessert, right? So she waves with her free hand, slouching on in. ]

Hey! Sweets for the sw--

[ Are you putting up what she thinks you're putting up? And do you know what it means? Haruka doesn't want to have to explain this, so she shakes her head. ]

...isn't that pretty.

NOT THOSE KINDS OF ELVES

[ She is, and she knows exactly what she's doing. She smiles brightly, up on her tiptoes as she finally hooks the stupid mistletoe up onto the doorway and then leans down, long white hair falling over her shoulder as she eases her face toward Haruka's. ]

Have you never seen a Mistletoe before, Haruka? I read up on human traditions in my time here, and I found that hanging mistletoe was one of them. Did you know that if two people meet under one, they are meant to kiss?

[ starting to lean more toward the 'lioriley is actually a little shit' option here. ]

but she's bearing such a wonderful gift

[ Haruka is suddenly reminded extremely strongly of Michiru, which is about the last comparison she ever intended to make aside from "they share a maternal streak". It's not a bad impression, it's just surprising.

But when that moment fades she's laughing - mostly in disbelief. ]
Where'd you read that?

[ It's quite obviously a rhetorical question. She drops the cookies off on the nearest table. ]

I cannot quite recall which book it was, but there are many that detail human traditions. Mistletoe being one of them.

[ she chuckles, glancing up at the plant above their heads. ] I am not mistaken, am I?

That's still a funny tradition to pick.

[ Unless Lioriley....no way. Haruka looks from her friend to the plant and back. Really?

All right then. Her next glance for the other woman is slightly flirtatious. ]

Though it is more charming than nailing socks over fireplaces.
