THE ALPHA/BETA/OMEGA MEME

In our world, sexual roles are commonly defined by genders -- male or female or other, by sexualities -- gay or straight, bi or asexual or in-between. But what if they were defined by something else entirely?

Alpha/Beta/Omegaverse is a fusion of fanfiction tropes and animalistic behavior. In this world, sexual roles are divided into three categories: the Alphas (the dominant, the protective and the aggressive), the Betas (ordinary humans) and the Omegas (submissive, fertile and able to carry children).

ROLES:
1 - The Alpha.
* Stereotypically type A personalities.
* Anatomically: Males have a penis; females may have a penis in addition to a vagina.
* Alphas knot their mates, meaning that the base of the penis swells and locks them inside their mate while they produce copious amounts of semen in an effort to breed.
* Strong sense of smell.
* Near an Omega in heat, they experience a compulsion to mate that is almost impossible to overcome.
* Alphas may go into rut, which is their equivalent of Omega heat, and drives them to mate.

2 - The Beta.
* Ordinary human being.
* Males have penises; females have vaginas.
* Can mate to anyone.
* Might be able to smell hormones of Omegas and Alphas, but will not be overwhelmingly affected by them.

3 - The Omega.
* Stereotypically submissive, quiet, intelligent and less physically able.
* Female anatomy is similar to Betas; males are self-lubricating and may have either an external or internal vaginal setup.
* Regularly go into heat, which involves being overcome by the urge to mate. They are unable to consent while in heat.
* May be made compliant by a bite to the neck. However, that may also induce a mating bond.
* Often regarded as second-class citizens or prizes to be won.

SITUATIONS:
1 - Bonding - Love at first sight. You've spotted your soulmate. You can smell them, you can feel them, you know that they'll be with you until the end of your days. Unless there's something between the two of you. It could be age - maybe one of you has to wait until the other has reached maturity. It could be that the bond is one-sided, and the other has yet to fall in love. It could be an unwanted bond, or society could have divided you into different places. Is your love strong enough to conquer?

2 - Heat/Rut - The need is coming on you strong. Everyone for a half-mile around can smell it. Better find someone to ride it out with, or hole yourself up in a room with a few bottles of water and a durable sex toy. And you'd better hope that there isn't someone out there who will take advantage of your pliable state. Best case scenario, there might be a Beta who can take care of you, or fend off anyone too predatory.

3 - Pregnancy - Whether through a heat or not, you're pregnant. Congratulations - or condolences. Is it time to start a family, or time to start panicking?

4 - Suppressants - You're using suppressants to keep yourself on an even hormone cycle, skipping heats, or maybe pretending to pass as a different class of society. After all, Omegas might want to be in the military, where they're not usually allowed - or an Alpha might want to take a job in a university or as a nurse. Shouldn't they be allowed to, if their hormones are suppressed? Just hope that you don't miss a dose.

5 - Mistaken Identity - That friend that you always thought was an Alpha, or an Omega, or a neutral Beta, turns out to be something entirely different, and your world is turned absolutely upside down. Does it challenge your preconceptions? Or does it just ruin the balance between you two?

6 - Unlikely Pairs - After all, there's no actual reason that Alphas have to mate with Omegas. Maybe two Omegas can satisfy each other. Or two Alphas. Or your intended mate could easily be a Beta. Maybe this is just about breaking out of your pre-established role and becoming something new.

7 - Manifestation - In some cases, an individual may not know they are Omega, Beta or Alpha until their first heat/rut/manifestation, usually happening in early teen years. It may take you by surprise; it may be a blessing, or may be a deep disappointment.

8 - Other - Adventures in getting jobs, making families, fighting bad guys, and anything else you can come up with!

Alphas probably should be more offended or even angered hearing that. Nick isn't. It's a turn on. He might wonder if he's broken later or if years married to Helen have worn him down.

Whatever the case, they soon end up on the floor. He finds he really doesn't care how they got there. All he cares about is sinking into Stephen and trying to get as much body contact as he can. He's not thinking clearly when his mouth moves to his neck. A visceral part of him wants to keep him. His teeth brush skin, he'd just have to bite down.

He's pushing off from the chair, and they both thud down on the carpet a little too hard. Feels good, feels like a good jolt. He swings a leg over Nick's waist, and bears down on him, hips angled, panting with need. He pushes it a little too fast; he's tight, never been stretched before, not like this. It's an edge of painful, and he hisses, curling forward, muscles clamping down. His hips rock, gently, because he can't make himself stay still.

"Nick, Nick." He doesn't know if he can say no to this. He wants to be claimed, desperately; he wants to be wanted. He wants to be needed.

The whole social expectations of what an Alpha should or shouldn't be are completely thrown out the window at this stage. His instincts tell him it doesn't matter who is where, he's still got his cock pressed into a tight hot space.

Hearing his own name really gets to him. Helen isn't exactly silent but she rarely says his name during sex. His hands go to Stephen's hips to help push him downward as his own hips thrust up. Words are a challenge but he does manage: "Jesus, Stephen--"

He barely realizes his hand has moved until he finds it wrapped around Stephen's dick.

He'll remember to either curse or thank Helen later.

He loses himself in the motion.

He's never done that before. There's always a part of him thinking about position and logistics and balancing the needs of his partner against his own. But this time he forgets it all. He is liquid-fire movement against Nick; he is soft and desperate moans and choked sounds and grinding himself down after the strokes like there's something magic about the depth of Nick in his body. The fire in him is calmed and stoked at the same time.

He comes back to himself gradually, after one orgasm that swells in him with Nick's knot and leaves him high and breathless, then another immediately after that comes out in pieces, four or five hard jerking spasms and then shivering aftershocks. He feels the warmth in him that means Nick's semen is spilling inside him, inside his fertile body, and he thinks he's never felt so sexy, so present in his own skin before.

He curls forward and lays himself on Nick's chest.

Instinctively, he doesn't dare move until he feels his erection and knot subside. It can hurt if he pulls out too soon. That's fine because he needs some time to recover. His arms end up around Stephen with one hand resting on the back of his neck.

He tries to keep thoughts of what Helen might have been thinking out of his mind.

The haze is comfortable, and Stephen rests in it, aware that his needs aren't anywhere close to being sated but tired, for now. Until he realizes, quietly, that there's a possibility Nick will reject him after this, and he can't think of anything that would be worse.

His thighs tighten, subtly, on Nick.

Concerns about why Helen set this up come back into his mind. He wants to believe she means well but it's hard to believe it.

The thigh squeeze brings his thoughts back. He thinks it's because Stephen is uncomfortable or sore and doesn't want to say anything. Because of instincts or social expectations. "Ah. Am I hurting you?"

He shakes his head. "No," he says, "no." He's heard that the heat hormones block pain; maybe later it will hurt. But he doesn't think so. "You were gentle." Stephen had been less so.

Nick relaxes as soon as he hears that. He falls silent, trying to figure out what to say. What do you say to someone who--

"I don't trust my wife," he blurts out, like that will explain things. He shifts and runs a hand through Stephen's hair. "but I want to trust you."

He doesn't know what that means. What Nick is trying to say. Helen seems clever, and swift, and maybe a little too knowing, but - doesn't trust her? Stephen examines himself. Maybe he doesn't fully trust Helen. Maybe it's the hormones speaking, too, but - "I trust you." This is soft, and calm, and it feels absolutely true.

The knot shifts a little, in him, and he hisses in air. It doesn't hurt, not really, but it strains him, and it feels so, so good to be held open this way.

"I.." well, what does he say to that? Luckily, there is a good distraction when Stephen shifts. He's over sensitive from coming which makes him groan.

"Ah--We should clean up, yeah?" He gingerly starts to pull out.

That does actually hurt a bit; Stephen grits his teeth, and, despite gravity working against him, shifts up. It's a funny, slippery feeling when the rest of Nick pulls out of him. Stephen is wetter than he was before. He touches an exploratory hand where Nick was just inside him, and finds that Nick's come is overflowing, almost dripping out of him. He flushes red and wipes his fingers on his thigh. He's a little awkward with casual nakedness. It was easier when he was out of his mind with desire.

He shifts off of Nick, to the side.

Nick's face flushes when sees the full extent of the mess. He... didn't think he had that much in him. "I'll get--" no, a wash cloth probably wouldn't do it for this. "How about a shower?" he says instead.

He gets to his feet then reaches down to help Stephen up.

He's not sure he can last the length of a shower. It seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to get dirty again.

But he lets Nick pull him to his feet. And, daringly, he steps in further and kisses Nick (his professor, this is so wrong) on the lips. Just because he wants to. It's not the heat compelling him.
