the film noir meme
-Pick out your character and fandom, as well as preferences.
-Go here and generate a random number between 1-10 for the setting
-Post all that.
-If you want, you or the person tagging you can roll a number between 1-8 for relationship as well!
- You know what to do next, honey.
Possible settings:
1. Crime Scene: Dead body? Burglary? Whatever the crime, it's been sectioned off for the officers to investigate this nefarious deed, and you're getting a good look at it.
2. Speakeasy: Prohibition's such a joke to society, and this is where the fashionable ones come to hang out and gossip. Perhaps a police officer or two will show up to investigate, but no one ever takes that seriously.
3. Docks at Night: The breeze caressing your face, the sound of the water, the boats passing by...maybe you were called here, or maybe you just like the peace it brings.
4. Alleyway: There's only one way in and out of this little corridor, and what happens in it is up to you and the other character. Just watch for the shadows, if you can see through the fog.
5. Detective's Office: Not too clean, not too messy. Just perfect for the person that's needed to get this mystery cleared up.
6. Rooftop: The wind dramatically blowing about, it's the perfect place to get that person to come and meet you so you can tell them what you want. Or if you're evil, why not kill them up here? It'll be hard to escape you.
7. Dressing Room: For some reason, you're backstage after a performance, and you've gotten into one of these. The mirrors, the costumes, the flowers from fans and the various personal affects...all are present and will be your silent witnesses to whatever occurs.
8. Hideout: You've gotten to the antagonist's spot of choice. Is this a glitzy nightclub with a private room, or is this an abandoned warehouse where they-or you-carry out their plot? The choice is yours.
9. Nightclub: Someone's showcasing their talent tonight, and you may or may not care about it. But it's classic, dimly lit, and it's easy to hide in here.
10. Free choice
Possible relationships:
1. Friends: Maybe you're an unstoppable team, or perhaps your relationship is getting strained. But whatever the situation, you know this person, and you'd be there for them.
2. Coworkers/teammates/classmates: You might not be friends, but you know this person well enough to remember their name. And right now you're being thrown together for a reason.
3. Lovers: This is the one you wanted to stay with for now. Married, dating, or maybe an affair, but you two care about each other enough.
4. Enemies: Utter hatred flows through your veins when you hear this person's name. This is the one you want to take down, and you just might stop at nothing to achieve your goal.
5. Family: Perhaps it's a sibling you're meeting. Or your parent, or some form of relative. Remember that phrase "blood is thicker than water"? It just might apply here.
6. Mysterious Stranger: Someone's been eyeing you from across the room, or you've been eyeing them. Will you two speak, or shall they float out of your life? Do they hold information you seek, or do they want something from you?
7. Femme/Homme Fatale: You are or have encountered a mysterious and seductive person, whose charms ensnare their lovers in bonds of irresistible desire, often leading them into compromising, dangerous, and deadly situations. Watch out, you might just get yourself into a real mess of trouble, hot stuff.
8. Free Choice

"Some wounds...don't heal properly the first time 'round," she murmured, her hand abandoning the back of his in favor of her arms loosely wrapping around his middle. She exhaled slowly, the scent of him, from both his sweater and his presence, soon filled her nostrils as she continued. "The pain of...reopening might be worth a second chance."
She pulled her head back slightly - only an inch or two so that he could see her clearly. It was that same look she gave him long ago when she wanted him to kiss her.
"And....even if it isn't...I don't care."
no subject
He could've had more tact, but this moment had been waiting to happen and if it didn't happen here, there was a chance at the table he would've pulled her in and snogged the life out of her then.
The case needed to be worked upon, but it could wait, given it was already ridiculously late and without questions asked, he was deepening the kiss. All the familiar patterns and what he remembered were coming back, as if it really hadn't been at least two years since they had last seen each other, but maybe just a night.
no subject
It felt like the entire night had led up to this - if it hadn't happened now, then when? Would they have returned to the kitchen to focus on the case, only to lose control right there on the table and the files? Would she have cared?
The case. One of the many reasons she'd chosen to reconnect with him. That was still open, a mystery waiting to be solved...
well, it could wait 'til morning, couldn't it?
Her hands clutched at his back, her body falling back into the habit of kissing him as memories of their relationship flooded back.
no subject
She always had a way of stirring up feelings he couldn't place words on or even name.
Breaking the kiss, he nuzzled the edge of her jaw before peppering kisses along her jaw line and threatening to go lower.
Would it be too much to admit that he wanted her every possible?
no subject
If he was waiting on her word to stop, he'd be waiting for quite some time. River leaned her head to the side, encouraging his kisses along her jaw.
no subject
"I'm sorry, you're driving me mad." Which sounded better than admitting that he hadn't had sex in years, he decided. They clearly had a lot to talk about later.
no subject
While she'd pushed the open case to the back of her mind, River was still a detective, and she couldn't help but wonder if the state of madness she was driving him to was all her doing, or if time had something to do with it. She moved her arm to reach up and cup his cheek. "But perhaps I can do something to relieve your...tension."
no subject
With a lick to his lips, he shakes his head, "We probably shouldn't..." Though his body was betraying his mind, and he finally opened his eyes to look at her. He remained where was, though relenting and letting his hand retreat from her hip to mirror her a moment ago with placing it on her hand upon his face. Her lips were reddened and the sweater was open a bit, revealing her collarbones and chest to him, that he felt slightly ashamed it probably looked like he was taking advantage of her.
no subject
"We're both adults, John," she reminded him with a smile. "And you know I'm not some trembling leaf of a girl. I could take you down if you actually got fresh." She chuckled, leaning in to kiss him briefly.
"But so far you haven't done a single thing that I haven't wanted you to." She nuzzled his other cheek, sighing softly. "...Would you rather we talked?"
no subject
Maybe the case wasn't going to be worked on tonight, after all. His original plan was to go into his office early in the morning, anyway. That was before everything blew up in his face tonight, of course. And just when he thought he was getting close to cracking it!
"I don't want to force you into anything you don't want to do. You know me, I never would do that."
no subject
"Then why are you so worried about it?" She asked, eyes searching his in the dimly lit hallway. "I was only teasing when I talked about you getting fresh, sweetie. You are, without a doubt, the best man I've ever had the privilege to know - biblically or otherwise." She stroked his cheek gently.
"So why are you suddenly so afraid you're coercing me?"
no subject
And perhaps in the back of his mind, he was expecting her to leave again after this case was closed. After all, he didn't know anything what her life was like other than being consumed by work.
"Will you come with me...?" He asked so softly, gently tugging her in the direction of his room.
no subject
Except for him, right now.
He asked her in the softest tone, and she couldn't stop herself from smiling.
There he was. The unassuming gentleman she'd fallen in love with. The one she'd often compared romantic interests to, both consciously and subconsciously. And they always fell short in some way. The man she'd never really stopped loving, even after she'd closed the door of her heart on him.
A tender kiss was the first part of her answer, a firm and lingering feeling of 'Yes'. The second part, with a playful glint in her eyes, was added because she just couldn't resist a little innuendo.
"If we time it right."
no subject
Moments later, he's crossing the threshold of door to his room, leading her in, and with one hand to her waist and another in her hand, he does a little dance move spin, having her sit on the edge of the bed first, quickly followed by him next to her.
With his hand cupping hers, he places a kiss to her cheek and lingers there, waiting to find her reaction.
no subject
River smiled, heart fluttering once more as he kissed her cheek. Her eyes closed slowly, her head turning to kiss his own cheek. "Shall we dance, doctor?" She whispered, lips brushing his earlobe.
no subject
But somehow he didn't see her complaining about that tonight as he brought a hand up and tangling it in her thick curls, massaging her scalp. His free hand caught the back collar of the sweater he had offered her, gently tugging it down to expose more of her neck and shoulders. The display was quickly followed by lips to said shoulder closest to him, leaving chaste, appreciative kisses there.
no subject
The front of her dress had begun to slip downward upon sitting, but she paid it little mind as he kissed her. If anything, she thought, it probably added to the view.
no subject
The top of her dress was falling down her biceps, leaving more of a view for him, enticing him to go ahead and sneak in curious touches of fingers to the scar on her chest, stopping to trace the outlines of said scar before cupping a breast. Silly enough, the Doctor felt like a teenage boy touching a girl for the first time again with River. The way her perfume lingered or maybe it was her natural smell he found so arousing and feeling the rise and fall of her chest under his hand.
"I've missed you." He muttered against her shoulder, leaving a light nip to her skin.
no subject
This time, however, she didn't mind being touched like a piece of art under verification. This time, she was a little more fragile, and his careful hands were more appreciated than ever.
"Me too," she whispered, her hand sliding up to brush the back of his hand with her fingertips. "I never stopped, really."
no subject
His own breath was shaky for a moment, perhaps a mixture of nerves and arousal as he continued to tenderly caress and tease her. It really had been far too long.
no subject
River smiled as he began to unzip her dress, her own hand moving to rest on his thigh, giving him an encouraging squeeze.
no subject
He didn't care as he glanced her over rather appreciatively, and giving her hips a gentle nudge, indicating for her to stand up and let the garment fall to the floor. His eyes locked with hers, and he could tell she would be able to notice his lust even in just his look. The Doctor could feel it coursing through every vein of his, how even time seemed to have stopped just for this moment.
And all he wanted was to tug her down to him, to straddle his lap so he could appreciate her half nakedness even more. Scar or no scar, age or no age, she was always so stunning.
no subject
"Oh, I almost forgot-" she paused to hike up her skirt and remove something hidden along the garter of one thigh. She leaned to place it on the bedside table. "No knives in bed."
She returned to where she'd been standing, looking at him in a way that even 'bedroom eyes' couldn't do descriptive justice. She let go of the fabric and the dress fell to the floor, leaving River in her dark lingerie slip and stockings. The dress pooled at her feel and she stepped out of it, leaving her shoes for its company.
River sauntered back to him, practically climbing into his lap with a hungry kiss.
no subject
"Right, no knives." He grinned at her, pleased to have her back so close to him, crawling back into his lap and greeting him with a kiss.
It was gladly returned as they battled for dominance, his hands running along the sides of her body, finally ending on her hips, tugging her impossibly close and silently cursing at the fabric between him.
He had to remind himself it wouldn't be long until he had his clothes off, to enjoy the teasing and challenge beforehand. Foreplay was always something he enjoyed with her.
no subject
River nipped at his lower lip, her hands sliding forward to loosen his tie. He'd always been excellent at foreplay, and she wanted to even the field of undress a bit before they plunged back into those familiar ways.
