Grooming is an important part of many species' rituals. It keeps them clean, healthy, and content. And a good bath? It can change the whole tone of a day from terrible to relaxed and blissful. But nudity is sometimes viewed as a weakness - and it is almost always sexualized - so bathing is often kept a private matter. If you do share these moments with someone, they're almost always a significant other or a sexual partner. Like you're doing now. Whether it be after a battle or after sex (or before sex, even), the two of you are going to get clean. Be sure to help each other out with that, won't you? After all, there are places on the back that just can't be reached... A light sheen of sweat clung to River's skin as she continued to ride the Doctor at the alternating speeds. Her thigh muscles were getting sore, but she refused to stop. Tension in her abdomen was building higher and higher, reflected in the increasing pitch of her voice. She groaned and her free hand pressed into her husband's chest as she stuck with fast thrusting, desperate to send them both over the edge.

"Ah, oh, oh, sweetie, I -" River cut herself off with a hissed curse as her muscles began to tense. She pleaded yes, body awash in waves of pleasure, gasping for him and her fingernails nearly digging into his clasped hand.

When the Doctor noticed River trying to push them both over the edge, he met her thrust for thrust. His back probably wasn't going to like him much in the morning, but that didn't matter, River was going to like it now.

He came hard when River dug her nails into his hand, somehow managing to yell out half of her name. The other half was lost in a groan from the back of his throat.

Her inner walls clenched and spasmed around him, her legs supporting her were trembling as she rode out her climax, serenaded by that of her husband's. Little lights danced behind her eyelids as she slowly came down from the high, and though her mind was hazy with pleasure, River did her best not to collapse too forcefully onto his chest.

She leaned her head into the crook of his neck, shallow breaths punctuating her whispered words. "You...are so...bloody amazing."

He grinned at her complement. "You did all the work." The Doctor's free hand went right to her hair, playing with it as she calmed down.

He had a feeling she was going to need another bath.

"Mm, 'bout 90%," she agreed, smiling at the feel of his fingertips in her hair. "Doesn't mean your 10% wasn't excellent, sweetie."

And she most likely would, though she'd drag him in with her this time for a bit of mutual cleaning.

He couldn't help the blush he could feel creeping up his neck, "Thank you." The tone of his voice said he thought no one could be better at this than River.

"You are, as always, very welcome," she purred, placing a tender kiss just below his jawline.

"If you like, next time you can be on top." She smirked a little at that.

"We'll give it a try next time."

It'd been known to happen on occasion with the the two of them, just not all that often.

River had no qualms about being on top, as long as they varied up the position now and then. There was more than one way to top, after all. By the 51st Century, the human race had become very imaginative about bedroom matters, and she had a mild curiousity to try everything at least once. Goodness knows the handcuffs became a quick favorite.

Her smirk turned into a smile as she laid her head against his chest. "Mm, and even if you're not feeling up to it I've got a few new ideas we can try out."

He smiled a bit, pulling her a little closer to him, "Oh yeah, like what?"

She smiled and chuckled. "Oh, some new positions, perhaps a bit of massage oil and a blindfold... Oh! By the way, is it possible to fiddle with the anti-gravs and put the bed on the ceiling?"

"We can put the bed on the ceiling, but I don't think we can put us on the ceiling."

The other things though, those piqued his interest a bit, "I wouldn't say no to the rest of it though."

"Oh, well, it was just a thought. I'm sure we can find another surface to christen." She sighed and lay there content with him.

"Yeah? Put that on the docket for next time, then."

"Something to look forward to more than I already look forward to all of that."

It was rare that the two of them had a quiet day like this, and he can't say that he was upset by it. Sometimes it was nice not to have the pressure of saving all of time and space on them.

River chuckled and lifted her head. "Oh, and just how much do you look forward to 'all of that'?"

With that question, he leaned over and kissed her again, with all the passion he could muster, "Quite a bit."

She happily closed her eyes when he kissed her, thinking that she could kiss this man forever. "Mmm, then your excitement for next time must be extraordinary." River kissed him back in a slow, lingering fashion. "I think I look forward to this bit more," she whispered softly. The contentedness of the aftermath, feeling his arms around her as they engaged in that age-old tradition of pillow talk: she loved sex with her husband, but she adored the intimacy more.

The Doctor was fairly sure he could kiss River for years if she'd let him, "It always is."

He felt this part, after they were done, was one of the few times they could really be themselves, without the pressure of all of the stories that surrounded the two of them.

"I do too," River got to see the part of him that she only reserved for her.

"Ooh you know how to lay it on thick, you charmer you," she teased. Though she knew he wasn't trying to be smooth or romantic - he was simply being him. Which River had come to realize was the sexiest thing of all, no matter how borderline cheesy it sounded.

She stayed close to him, her nose nuzzling his cheek affectionately. "Mm, well while we're here maybe you can tell me an idea or two of yours. Unless you're officially leaving all the plans to me in which you're in huge trouble."

"I don't know. I'm kind of enjoying this at the moment. I wouldn't mind doing just this every now and again."

Leave the adventuring outside the TARDIS and just be together. That did sound rather nice. It also probably meant that he was getting old.

"You're not getting any complaints from me about that," River smiled. "Could be a wonderful idea..

"We always have wonderful ideas. I think we should go with this one."

She hummed softly as she settled her head into the crook of his shoulder again. "Agreed. This one's comfy. Tomorrow we should just do this all day. Lay in bed like two....lay-abouts."
