There’s nothing like watching a movie, is there? It’s a chance to relax and have fun for a few hours. Whether it’s a romantic date with dinner and a movie or an outdoor film festival, it doesn’t matter.

That’s up to you.

So pick your genre, pick your location, and pick your season. Above all else?

[Yu supposed that when Naoto said she was okay with a movie, that they would end up watching a something that had to do with mysteries and a cool detective. Then again, he hadn't even expected the movie until they actually met up in person; her all caps bulletin of a text message hadn't revealed much. How was it she was the smartest person in their group and she texted almost as bad as Teddie?]

[He mentally shook the thought away, trying not to dwell on it and instead focusing on the poster. It had a rose resting on snow, though where the petals touched white, it looked more like blood. It wasn't that had to guess what this one was about, and he turned a faint amused smile toward her.]

I wonder how a movie murder mystery compares to the real thing.

[Naoto smiled in return, still a little embarrassed by openly admitting her favor for the lurid tales of mischeif, revenge, and murder from decades ago, even if it only was to Yu and the rest of the team. Though childish, they had helped her realize the difficult truth that it was alright to just be herself.]

They're easier.

[She replied, as if it were obvious. Then, she elaborated in the fast, bright tone of a passionate fan who spent far too many hours studying and analyzing every facet of her hobby.]

People go in expecting something entertaining, and the writers have made these movies exactly that: entertaining. The detectives are heroes, the villains are truly evil, and the clues fit together very easily.

[A breath.]

They're too vibrant to be real. Policework really isn't so flashy.

Up to you/Naoto whether this is a date. If Naoto even knows what a date is.

Somtimes, Souji wonders about Naoto. Most people, at least most of the people he knows, want to take their mind off their job when they're not working. Naoto, on the other hand, seemed to want to solve mysteries 24 hours a day, fictional or non-fictional. Then again, mystery stories were half her inspiration in the first place...

Either way, they were at the theater in Okina standing in line for tickets, and as usual Souji wasn't the one who picked the movie. It did sound interesting, at least...

It was a modern remake of a classic Noir film from the 1940s, complete with an updated setting and a promise that the characters would still be recognizable as themselves with these updates. Naoto, for one, was excited enough to see the film that she wanted to make it for the opening and, in a moment of altruism, decided to ask if the rest of the team wanted to come and take a break from their case with her.

Unfortunately, it was a busy weekend all around, and the only one that was available to come was Souji.

"Thank you for coming with me, Senpai," Naoto said while they waited in line for their tickets. "I wasn't sure if anyone was going to make it."

[Heck yeah, movie night. Girlfriend-less bros movie night, but still movie night. Yosuke is sitting on the couch in Souji's room, his knees curled up to his chest, with a blanket draped down over his head. The coffee table's covered in snacks and bottles, the empty DVD case serving as a makeshift coaster.

Yosuke looks over at his friend, his face sullen.]

Alright... honestly. No more horror movies. I regret suggesting it. I feel no shame in admitting it's seriously giving me the creeps. [aren't they dealing with a murderer in real life as it is.]
