[ Hours of sitting bodes well for the trickster. He's passed many a long day sitting at a desk or perched in a tree, a bike will be no different. Once he finishes his juice, he feels refreshed enough, and tugs the straw free after that last sip. ]

[Steve brings his attention back to the present when he realizes Loki's done.] Mouth check.

[ Oop- mouth check. Loki quickly wipes his mouth carefully with the edge of the scarf, and then waits expectantly for Steve. Hopefully he doesn't have to use that spray again. ]

[Thanks to the scarf, it looks like Loki's mouth is doing okay so far, so Steve decides they can skip the treatment this time around.] Alright, you're looking good. Go to the restroom if you need to, and then we'll get back on the road.

[ Oh. Well, good to know, then. He really wasn't looking forward to that stinging cleaning again.

And then Steve suggests using the rest stop facilities. Loki did have two full drinks, yes, but he casts a glance at the building and then gives Steve a look that suggests he cannot believe Steve expects him to do his business in there. ]

[It's a very clear look, that's for sure.] Do you really think I'd let you go in there if it was all disgusting and unsanitary when your mouth's still healing?

[ It's not that it could possibly be disgusting and unsanitary (although it's a relief to know it isn't,) it's the fact that there are people there and what if someone stops him to ask about those threads?

So, nope. Not happening. Loki's going to turn his nose up at Steve as he turns around, and heads into the trees again, searching for a shaded and secluded area. No peeking! ]

[Steve sighs and puts his hands on his hips, but decides to leave it for now. They can talk about the wonder of restroom stalls next time.]

[ Loki shuffles his way back within minutes. There was a stream nearby, so he took the opportunity to wash his hands and get some of the dirt off his face, before returning to where Steve waits for him. See? Didn't need icky mortal restroom after all. ]

[There may be some fondness in the exasperated look on Steve's face. May be.] Anything else before we leave?

[ Loki can tell, he sees it. He's already tugging the scarf back up as he nods his head, ready and eager to get back out on the road. ]

What do you say to four hours 'til our next break?

[ Four hours sounds manageable. Loki nods as he adjusts his sunglasses, ready to get this show on the road. ]

Then we're off! [Once more to the Capmobile!]

[ The enthusiasm is contagious. Loki can't grin as wide as he'd like to, but he manages something close as he bounds along after Steve. ]

[Steve takes full advantage of what little lead he has and gets back to the bike first. As if it could possibly go anywhere without him and the keys. His shield's still securely attached and nothing else looks disturbed, so they're ready to go as soon as Loki gets back on.]

[ He bets that if they'd actually made it a race, he would've made it to the bike first. But, oh well. Next time. Loki will just clamber on after Steve, adjust his sunglasses one more time, and return his arms around Steve's waist to hold on tight. ]

[As promised, it's a long drive after that. They actually make it to an area with hills, though! By the time they pull into another rest area, it's getting to be evening; they may have a headlight, but Steve doesn't want to find out how long Loki can stay awake or whether he can still hang on tight if he falls asleep, so they won't drive too much longer after this.]

[ It really is a long drive. The landscape and scenery keeps him interested for most of the time, but by the time the fourth hour rolls around, Loki's having trouble keeping his eyes open. His hold around Steve stays secure, but he does end up lowering his head against Steve's back as he tries to stay awake. ]

[All this being leaned on is really not helping Steve's stupid fledgling crush, but he can ignore it in favor of the necessities. The bike goes quiet beneath them and Steve allows himself the little intimacy of touching one of Loki's arms to get his attention.] Hey, we're taking another break.

[ Steve is pretty comfy to lean against, even on the occasional bumpy dirt road. He's warm, and strong, he has a neat bike, he takes care of him. What a nice guy.

He suddenly realizes the bike slowing and shutting down, and lifts his head when he feels the other man's hand against his forearm, blinking his eyes not knowing when they'd closed. Goodness, he hopes he didn't fall asleep, but he is really tired so it wouldn't surprise him. Loki makes a quiet sound of agreement and rubs his eyes, bumping the sunglasses he'd also forgotten about. ]

[Sleepy noises? Lord have mercy. Steve gets off the bike to stretch his legs and avoid making an ass of himself, but he's careful to do it slowly enough that Loki won't think he's offended at taking a turn as the pillow.]

Would you rather we look for a campground or a hotel to bunk down tonight?

[ All the sleepy noises. There might be a hint of a pout when his Steve-pillow moves away, but it's necessary, and Loki follows as he slides off the bike and removes the glasses to make it easier to rub his eyes.

The hotel idea doesn't sound appealing, too many people around, but a campground would probably work. He's gotten used to not sleeping on a bed, after all. The nervousness combined with the sleepiness is giving him a weird expression, but he nods all the same anyway. ]

[Oh, yeah, it probably would've been easier if he'd asked a yes or no question just now. The odd look on Loki's face gives him some hint as to which option he's responding to, though, and Steve puts his own sunglasses away in the smaller storage compartment near the engine.] Campground it is, then. According to the map there's one not far from here, but I don't know what their office hours are like so we should try to get there sooner rather than later.

[ Oh- what a handy compartment. Loki mirrors Steve and deposits his glasses there was well, and loosens the scarf around his neck so he can wipe a little dust smudge off his cheek. Campground sounds good to him, so he'll follow Steve close behind, careful to duck away in case anybody they run into along the way looks at him funny. ]
