The Childhood Sweetheart Meme
![]() THE CHILDHOOD ѕωєєтнєαят MEME Ahhh, young love. Whether it's precious or bittersweet, it's something that stays with you. Remember that time...? Of course you do. Both of you thought you'd last forever. Or maybe you were too young to know what that meant. All that mattered was that you were kids and you were together. But time and circumstance tears even the best of friends and young lovers apart. That person, your childhood crush, your first love, is just a memory. Now, you're being given a second chance. Will it be painful? Will you confess everything and try to win their affection again? You've been reunited, and it's up to you what happens. HOW TO ① Comment with your character. You can state preferences and such in your subject. ② Characters who comment will be their childhood sweetheart/first love. The muns can figure out how that works, but when in doubt, just wing it. It's a meme. Fun is the goal here. ③ KISS AND REUNITE. Or argue and storm off. Or cry. Or laugh. Or sex. Whatever is appropriate. |

i apologize for the fact he looks 40 when epting draws him
Miss Lang-- [no wait] ...Cassie.
[He's stiff as a board, but mostly in the way that means "if I don't move at all I can't shift my weight nervously," not to mention the fact he's usually pretty stiff in the first place.]
No. INEXCUSABLE.
[Then she leans a little closer, frowning, her face far, far more alive, more intense. More interested. There's curiosity, and incredulity, and...]
[... and tentative joy.]
Kristoff? Is that ... you?
/flees sobbing
Yes. I've been...away.
[Four years feels longer when you spend them in exile...and he's going to gloss right over that unless she asks directly. Despite a good poker face, he's obviously eliding something, because Kristoff doesn't hesitate or trip over words under normal circumstances, or at least what pass for normal circumstances in his life.]
You look [alive] well.
[And he's worried there's a catch he hasn't spotted yet, like time travel or deals with Mephisto. It's a legitimate concern for people like them.]
Huff huff. (Also OMG keywords. :'( )
It's so good to see you, I. So much has happened, I've got so much to tell you! I bet you do, too! You've learned a lot and invented and built amazing stuff, haven't you? I can now grow and shrink, when I want, too.
... well, usually when I want. I kinda do the shrinking thing when I'm upset without wanting to. I usually manage not to grow when I'm angry, anymore.
it's super obvious and kristoff's just like /okay.jpg
Kristoff freezes as Cassie does something he didn't expect. Doom's not the demonstrative sort, and it's quite possible the last time he got hugged was before his mother died. He's acquainted with the concept, however, and after a moment of what could best be described as a mental "technical difficulties" screen, he returns the embrace, tentatively. His armor can't possibly be that comforting to hug. At least the tunic's a nice fabric.]
When did you start producing Pym particles without exposure to the formula?
[Science is a safe topic, and Kristoff manages to stop short of accusing her father of anything. Though they'd parted on good terms, he'd have been furious at Lang for dragging Cassie into the world of superheroes and supervillains, but he has the feeling she invited herself and Scott couldn't have stopped her.]
Poor boy. He really does need another blonde in his life. (nottalking)
[But she does pull back enough to look up at him, a little sheepish.]
Kind of... the other way around. I, uh. Was stealing and exposing myself to Pym particles for years. I'd sort of given up, when it turned out I could grow and shrink, after all. I just had to get angry enough for the first time.
he likes sue...
Cassie.
Kristoff can't decide whether he should be frowning or smiling, so his expression lands somewhere between the two, lips pressed together but still curling up a little on one side.]
I can't honestly claim to be surprised.
[Though the emotional connection is a new one, as far as he's aware.]
... who doesn't?
[She kind of pouts at him, but then she meets his eyes and. The bubbly just goes out of her. She deflates, leaning a tiny little bit more against him, sobering up.]
Kristoff...
[... nope. Too soon to talk about any of it.]
Have you been all right?
emma frost
Neither Lang nor Pym would have agreed to give you access, while you would not have taken "no" for an answer. From that point, the logic is clean-cut. The only question is whether you saw fit to ask and be denied first.
[He's not accusing her of anything. Going behind Scott Lang's back is perfectly acceptable conduct as far as Kristoff is concerned.]
I-- [he doesn't want talk about it because it involves bringing up his father and that seems like it might be a sensitive subject] have been...largely out of harm's way.
[Not much happens in Tibet, and the Chinese don't tangle with the monks, even assuming they know the monastery is there, which Kristoff isn't sure about.]
... she's allowed.
Mom sued for custody. I - she hadn't even called for so long, and suddenly I only could spend a weekend a month with dad. My asking for things didn't even matter.
[Nope. She didn't ask. She just acted. Now, she chews on the inside of her lip before glancing up at him again.]
I'm glad. One of us managing it sounds like something.
no subject
"Something" that was not by choice. I had no desire to hide from the world.
[[He sounds very flat. That's about as close as Kristoff will ever get to yelling "I HATE YOU, DAD" and slamming the door behind him as he storms off to his room to make angry Facebook posts.]
no subject
[But the words... no, the tone makes her look up at him and sober up, focusing away from herself (it's good for her. Less reason to freak out).]
Right. I meant better than letting what happened to him happened to you, but let's - how about now? Now that you're back, I mean? The past doesn't seem to be particularly fun to think of, for either of us.
no subject
Father's returned from his venture with the Future Foundation, I've relinquished the throne, and affairs have returned to normal.
["Normal" by the extremely weird standards Kristoff's used to. His plans for the future are "hang around Latveria, try not to annoy Dad too much." He doesn't see how anything he might want contrary to that fits into his life.]
no subject
[Except she's back, now.]
And now... here I am. Disrupting things again, of only a little bit.
no subject
That's not a problem, Cassie.
[He knows better than anyone how his father thinks, and he's quite sure that Doom won't care one way or another that Cassie's back from the dead...as long as it doesn't affect Kristoff's ability to perform his duties, and Kristoff is fully capable of uncomplainingly subordinating his own desires to necessity.]
no subject
[However, for all that she knows it's a statement of fact, rather than some sort of silly emotional promise? The simple sentence makes her feel better.]
[She doesn't doubt that Doom won't care if she's back - he didn't kill her because he needed to single her out - it was in the middle of a fight, she attacked him, he fought back. She gets that. But the fact that Kristoff isn't finding it a problem? That's reassuring - and she's lost enough to be in need of it.]
[She can't quite smile up at him, not just now, but she nods, and it's easy to see that some of the lump inside her is easing.]
[And she might have felt a little warm on his using her name just now.]
Thank you, Kristoff. What do I do to keep it that way?
no subject
...Stay away from Latveria.
[And by extension, him. Not putting herself back on Doom's radar is the safest for her...and for him, but that's barely factoring into his reasons.]
no subject
[She should have expected that - no, she did expect it, especially in the silence before he spoke. But it still hurts, and her arms tighten around him for the moment.]
[But she doesn't argue. She can't argue, not right now. Things may change, with time, but not right now. (She doesn't now enough of how the rest of the world is.)]
Will you... come visit me, now and again, then?
no subject
I'd like that.
[Wow, expressing emotions that potentially make you vulnerable is harder than he'd thought.]
Father probably wouldn't object to my visiting the Baxter Building occasionally.
[Since his return, Doom seems to be a lot calmer about Reed Richards and associates. Kristoff has no idea what could have happened between the two to settle his father's grudge without something horrible happening to Reed, but he's hoping it stays settled.]
no subject
[In the best case scenario, you'll choose against her, and you'll both be broken. In the worst... at least one of you will die. Thanks, but she'll pass. And fight in her own ways.]
[On the other hand? Those three words make her melt a little. And she feels guilty, because Jonas, but it really, really makes things a little better. And, this time, she does smile up at him.]
That's a start. I've missed you, you know. Didn't even know if you were alive... let's try not to do that again?
no subject
And wow, way to wreck his judgment, Cassie. That incredulous little half-smile is practically a goofy grin when you consider the fact that this is Kristoff.]
It wasn't my idea.
[That's about the best he can do by way of defusing a situation with humor, and despite his light delivery, it's really not that humorous, given whose idea it was and why.]
no subject
[And, oops. She knows how rare his smiles are, of any description, and definitely brightens at this one. Sorry, Kristoff, she's just saying what she feels. Felt. All of that. But if you were wondering if you can make her feel better, you can probably see the answer, right now.]
[Her response is soft, though, not at the humor but at the truth behind it.]
I know.
[But then, the smile reasserts itself.]
Your ideas, I like.
no subject
And he's just discovered, to his obvious consternation, that he doesn't know how to gracefully accept a compliment from a peer, possibly because Doom considers perhaps five people in the universe to be peers and Kristoff himself has no friends.]
...You do?
[Smooth, Vernard. Maybe for your next trick you can forget what you meant to say and stammer a bit.]
no subject
herpeople who made things clearer? And, no, Cassie's not taking advantage of him. Ever. He's her friend (he's the first boy that she wanted to pay attention to her, the first boy that she felt bad over when she found he had a girlfriend... and the boy she couldn't forget, no matter what) and she'll not hurt him on purpose.][And of course she missed him.]
[She smiles, not disturbed by his awkward reaction.]
Of course. You make the impossible possible, and you do do it for the sake of saving people, when you are given the opportunity to use your abilities that way.
[Up on her tip-toes UGH, he's a lot taller than her, now, not that she can't grow to be of more even height, but she hasn't, since coming back, and she'd rather not find out there's a problem just now; anyway, up on her tip-toes to give his cheek a light kiss. Again. ]
What's not to like?
no subject
Related: he speaks fluent Tibetan now. It's kind of useless.
Besides the fact teenage boys grow like weeds, the armor makes Kristoff even taller; with the mask in place he's indistinguishable from Doom. Once he figures out what Cassie's trying to do, he leans down enough to close the remaining distance. He is really okay with being kissed...and leaving her standing there on tiptoe would be horribly rude.
He's got absolutely no idea what to say to being admired for things besides intellect or deviousness, though.]
...You're too kind.
[Autopilot it is, apparently. Really, he'd be less out of his depth if she were calling him a dweeb again.]
no subject
[But, hey, she wouldn't have been stuck waiting like that. She'd have cheated. Actually, she nudges her size a little up. Because he is very tall, and, while held against his (armored) chest was fine with the initial emotions, now she'd rather get a better chance to look him up in the face.]
[Now that it's not a conspicuous motion, she can try it. And it works okay.]
Yeah, well, you better work to earn it, mister.
[It's a tease, complete and honest, and her smirk should show it to him. She might be emboldened by his acceptance of the kiss. It's - if he hadn't been exiled, maybe things would be different. Her heart sure is thundering in hear chest, and she's kinda certain she should back off. Or things will get complicated with Jonas.]
[But she only cleared her throat.]
I mean, keep on earning it. Because I think you do deserve it.
